The worst songs ever

There's a Danish nursery song, 'Solen er så rød mor', it starts something like this:

The sun is so red mom, and the forest is so black
Now the sun is dead mom, and the day has passed on

The rest of it is still glum, especially to the slow melancholy melody, but less fatalistic. I know it's actually just a fancy way to be like "hey the sun has set", but as it turns out, poetic license doesn't always work so well when you're 4 and the only major non-family adult in your life has just died.

My sister who is slightly younger loved this song, so my parents would sing it to us almost every evening when we were kids. I despise it, it always made me feel sad and empty.

I very rarely hate music. Even if I really detest listening to it, someone is probably enjoying it. This one is personal though, fuck this song.

This is all subjective and no one is right or wrong for their picks (despite what someone here just hinted at) but I'll go with one I've hated for the 40 goddamn years it continues to be overplayed. Take it off the soundtrack of an iconic movie and I don't think we'd still have to be subjected to it after all these years.

Here's one that's kind of odd. I find the original to be flat out awful but every cover I've seen of it isn't bad.

Maybe its the voice.

And the lead singer of FYC had a supporting role for one season of the old Highlander TV show. Wait, is that a good thing or a bad thing for that song?

He was also in Scandal with John Hurt, about the Profumo Affair. Joanne Whalley at her absolute most gorgeous.

That's shit, but few songs are more outright offensive and insulting than "Do They Know It's Christmas."

Too bad they're both earworms.

I'll give "Do They Know It's Christmas" the credit of at least being original.

So of course the American artists decided they had to rip off the idea, only to do it worse.

Not sure it's interesting but your post is telling. Save the judgement for the PB.
I wouldn't call that a judgment, just an observation. As far as telling, sure it is. It should tell you a lot about me, if you have the ability to look at it with a clear eye. And as far as judgments, who judges more than you? Not a person here. I'll happily compare every post I've ever made here against yours.

Tom Ate a Banana

I once owned this album on cassette (gift from a friend who shares the same hometown as the singer). Decades later, I still can't eat a banana without hearing it.

It haunts me.

We are no longer friends.

To not jack this thread, and inject ideology as you were doing, I'll respond in a PM.

Unless you have a nut allergy.

Peanuts are not nuts! Peanuts are peas that look like nuts -- they are legumes. Entirely different allergy.

My apologies for being pedantic here, but I can't eat tree nuts, but I love peanuts.
