I recently mentioned a trip to New Orleans in a thread and was reminded of the Vodoo tradition and flavor that permeates the area.

I was wondering if anyone had ever considered or written a story where a Mambo or Bokkor used their powers to coax an unwilling person (or persons) into bed? I thought it might make an interesting premise for smeone with some area knowledge, knowledge of Vodoo and ability in writing mind control/NC stories.

LOL, I am interested, and though my story is based in Jamaica it deals with the ancient ritual practice of Voodoo and Voodooism. I was inspired when on my last visit home I met with a Voodooist for real and it was a uniqu experience. Then listening to Mary Janes last dance (Tom Petty) I was not so much into the Hex portion of Voodoo but that real belief of necromancy they control to a point that is almost real, or is it?

Deep respect I have for such concentration of the minds thoughts is it capable of more than the average person is aware?

Any way I thought I would be fairly original with a Voodoo story. I would like to hear/read other stories ideas if they are not childish mockery.

Colly, has many ideas I like. Hhmm!

A long time ago I read a voodoo story here on Lit. It wasn't great for my tastes, 'cause I was looking for something specific in the story. Although it was present, it was so in a very odd way. Still, it floated my boat (I read all of it), so it had enough going for it. I doubt it had the voodoo history and terminology you seek though.

Although I think it's a niche genre (voodoo in particular), it would be nice to see a few more stories catering to it. Too many would water down it's allure.

I think the terminology and some area familiarity would enhance the appeal. I have considered trying it myself, but I haven't done enough research and am not sure how an F/F mind control or NC story would go over with people who read my stuff.

I rather be time consumed and make a real story have the proper facts. That is for me though. My bigest obstical seems to be translation of the language so the reader does not have too. I type what I want to say and Paul my friend in Jamaica types back how to spell it. (in exchange he gets to be the bus driver) I type it in the story and then translate it. Keeping it brief not so much for the reader it is too much work for me. To give a feeling of the real language I think adds to the story especially any one who ever visited. Basically French, Spanish and english mixed. mainly english.

I think most readers would be willing to accept that the mind is a force beyond our own control.
Voodoo is not as much about little dolls and potions. As it is a belief they can comunicate with the dead souls and provide answers for the future. "necromancy"
The witch doctor has a control over the path of the person in question only because what he can visibly see from the spiritual world. Much like some shows on TV today in that the astound people by talking about loved ones from the past. Today John exploits this for his own wealth.
I think the Gilligan Island example of the doll and needles is retarted. sorry "mentally challenged"
The Idol doll represents the person and the needle is symbolic of different placement for the life in question and the path which that person is now allowed to choose.
The Hex is no more than a Evil prayer, or wish of bad luck spoken to make the other person concentrate on short falls in everyday life.
The spells and interpitations are endless..Tea leaf, broken glass, palms, salt, sand prints,blood,cards,fire..........

I chose this topic because one I love the island and the people. Two it is a non consent story that is, but is not the control of others. It has to be. For Voodoo to be a factor it is because something happened to a character beyond physical that they could not control as much as they may have wanted to they were helpless in changeing the path set before them.
It is my chance to write nonconsent (which I do not agree with)Romance, sexual behavior beyond the normal bounds of age and rules of marriage, and dead people. To use a bit of foreshadow and memories of the past events to bring all the detils together

How much of that loss of control is coincidence or actual human control is up to the author.

If it helps my witch doctor is a "huge" woman so I think it would be easier to have a FF story. I am not, but you probably knew that.

You know I never been. I often think of the excitement of Fat tuesday. I want to go and I know I should. It is located so it is not worth flying and yet a long drive. I'll put it on my to do list.
