The Walking Dead

Ok people....while gas will degrade quickly it would still be viable for 4-6 years assuming it was stored half way correct. A little less if there is ethanol. I wouldn't want to put it in a high performance engine. But you could.

I'll take your word for it but the internet says your pushing it after 2 years. Granted that's in a car but that's where these people are getting their gas for the most part not from proper storage and that's assuming that there are many of those around. With something that generally gets used up in a matter of weeks to months there is little reason to have proper storage.

I don't know of much in the series that gives us a concrete time scale to work with. A little over two years is the answer that makes the most sense to ME. That said from evidence we know we're talking at absolute minimum ten months or so since what's her name was polite enough to get married and it's stated she doesn't know if it's Shane's or Rick's.

We also have no real way of knowing how much gas was used almost immediately. Regardless I'd be in the market for a horse right about now and migrating if not toward farms to whereever wild horses live in the US.

I'm really curious about the state of education in their world. Libraries seem like a places to get ransacked but there is a lot of useful medical, chemical, and botanical knowledge stored in there. Most of us for example have no clue what berries are good to eat. Having access to medicine is great but I'd rather be able to make some of my own but again I would know which stupid flowers to take with me when I wandered through a green house.

Love the season so far, but the shows are just too short....

I hope whatever situation everyone seems heading towards isn't just a repeat of Woodbury, because we've already seen that. (I'm not a comics person, you can probably tell.)

And how has the scientist kept that mullet going through the zombie apocalypse?

I dunno, the last three episodes have been dull as fuck. I hope it's not gone off the boil.

The group split up, so you're going to get these individual stories, I guess....

I guess its a lull after the Governor....but I agree, lets get it on!

I think this season is slow. It looks like they are deciding who lives and dies.

This was like a Lost episode, putting character development ahead of thrills and gore. My guess is the show's normal audience wasn't entertained.

It looks like they're pointing towards criminals and random bad guys emerging as threats (unlike the Governor, who was a bad guy but never stopped thinking of himself as a good guy). The men Rick and Michonne escaped from last week, and whoever it was that laid waste to the country club and its members, are the sort of ruthless bastards that are going to come to the fore whenever civilization falls apart.

Life has no value, apparently, in that world....its like the living are burdens

I actually liked Sunday's episode.
I assumed the the country club residents did each other and themselves in, the survivors hanging themselves.

I told my girlfriend the same thing I'll say here .

They spent the last episode....2 epis ago going through Michonnes past and now we finally found out who Darryl was...or is. Not that it was hard to figure.

It needed to be done. Now everyone's introduced and re introduced from the lesbo hottie to Beth, the Professor, Maryanne and Gilligan (people on way to Washington) Michonne, Darryl and Judiths alive and Carols back so now we can proceed to that camp and everyone presumably gets together somewhere along the line.

everyone's talking " oooh beth and Daryl are going to hook up"

and that's the kind of tv bullshit I can't stand..why is it when you put a man and a woman together the assumption is automatic that they have to have a romantic relationship

Beggars can't really be choosers in the zombie apocalypse, but there's a pretty big age difference between those two characters. The show isn't going to go there, even assuming Beth lives much longer, which I don't.

Because that's how good writing goes and it's really the only logical reason to put a male and female together for any length of time. However I just don't see it with those two. I don't think the age difference is something they would avoid in this case. I personally think Michonne and Carl have been making serious googly eyes at each other that we know they could never do. Even in a zombie apocalypse where even though we as the audiance know they'll find other people they have no good reason not to think that the three of them are if not the last people around certainly the last three you'd trust to hang out with.

I don't think they're are going to have Darryl and Beth get romantic, but I'm at the point where I'd be good with just about anyone having sex with Darryl. I want his character to go there. Is he like waking up with some morning wood in the bushes and goes off and jerks on a bush while Beth still sleeps?

Can I have a spoiler from a the comic books peeps? Does Darryl ever have sex?

Comic versus TV update..spoiler city

I've got the first 20 of the Walking Dead graphic novels, and have been following the series for years..that being said, the tv show is not identical to the comics..in many ways it veeers entirely off course..which I love

I look at the comics as a guideline for the show.. I have a general idea of where the show is going.. but how it gets there and what dynamic changes is very exciting

in that spiirt, I thought I'd show some differences between the two

just a warning.. this will contain some spoliers

RICK

in the comics Rick has his hand chopped off by the Governor when he refuses to give him information about the prison; he also finds the phone where he talks to Lori after he leaves the prison

CARL

Carl is decidely younger it's only been a couple years in the comics

LORI

does not die during childbirth, but is instead killed when the Governor launches a massive attack on the prison

JUDITH

dies with Lori

DARRYL

does not exist.. was created solely for the show.. and he's hot

CAROL

loses her mind at the prison after being reected by Tyrese and freeing a serial killer which kills a couple of Herschels kids.. she commits suicide by offering her self to a bunch of zombies

SOPHIA

Carol's daughter.. lives.. Maggie and Glenn " adopt" her.. she and Carl are " dating"...it's very cute

MICHONNE

batshit crazy...raped and tortured by the Governor... slowly gets her shit together and is Rick's best friend..the two are pretty much a powerhouse

ANDREA

very much alive.. wicked scar across face from the serial killer..missing part of her ear lobe from the same... she dated Dale... is an absolutely insane sniper or as she describes herself with a gun " It's ridiculous how good I am with a gun".. is ow dating Rick

GLENN

rather not say what happens to him

MAGGIE

develops some serious shell shock later on, almost kills herself a couple times

SHANE

killed by Carl long before they left the initial camp from the first season

DALE

lives a good long time... gets his foot amputated.. eventually gets bitten and Andrea has to put him out of his misery

GOVERNOR

grade A scumbag from day one...see above Michonne.. she then takes out his eye, castrates him, chops off his legs and one arm..is eaten by walkers

BETH

killed by the walkers in the barn

HERSCHEL

killed by Governor..shot in face

TYRESE

is the guy that gets head chopped off by Governor.. meets up with Rick and crew long before they reach prison...bangs Carol and Michonne

LIZZY and her sister

don't exist in the comics.. but methinks they're just replacing the twin boys from the comic.. one of whom is a sociopath

ABRAHAM, EUGENE, ROSALITA

bang on so far

WHATS-HER-NAME with GlENN

created for the tv series

other things different

they only stay a couple nights at Herschels farm before finding the walkers and moving on

they never go to the CDC..when they leave Atlanta they never go back

the people of Woodbury never move in..after the attack on the prison, both sides are broken

since there's no Darryl..there's no Merle

no T-Dogg either

Thank you for the tidbits. Doesn't sound good for Glenn if you can't say.

By leaving out the rape of Michonne on TV, I thought, there was always something unsaid, something not disclosed ast to why she hate the Governor so much and tried to kill him.

It doesn't take a zombie apocalypse to occasionally need to find a reason to go on living.
