Yeah, I assume I'm pretty far down the line to be vaccinated (assuming health care workers, nursing home residents, prisoners/prison employees, anyone else over 65, and anyone who can't socially distance on the job gets to go first). If there are side effects, we should know before my number gets called.

But the more people out there who are immune (either "naturally" or because they've had a vaccine), the fewer people remain to spread the virus. So the benefits will still show up.

Interestingly I saw a poll from the UK that more Tories than Labour supporters are in favor of forced vaccinations, I think it was like 56% of Tories and 48% of Labour supporters favor mandatory vaccinations. I also saw something similar from some other country but I can't remember which one now. At any rate, its not a clear cut "left vs right" issue.

I'm happy to become part of a new outcast caste for standing up for human liberty and bodily integrity. Even if I'm the only one and end up living in back alleys and behind trash dumpsters I'm cool with that. Gates isn't putting his junk in my body. The reality is I won't be alone. 50% said they'd get vaccinated BEFORE the election. Now that Trump is a lame duck and no longer interested in pushing an untested vaccine to boost his reelection hopes, the number of Americans who would get a vaccine rose to 58%. LINK

Interesting short story on Reddit this morning on how the vaccine was developed so quickly.

Back in 2014 were trying to come up with a vaccine for MERS (remember MERS?) which was the "end of the world" vaccine of the day. Then MERS died out and research funding dried up.

Two British researchers soldiered on, despite limited funding. They came up with a viable vaccine but no money to do clinical testing. Then COVID hit and the researchers realized similarities. The Chinese published the Covid genome in late December and the researchers re-coded their vaccine over New Years holiday. When all of the pharmaceutical companies realized there were megaprofits to be had, the researchers had a budget to allow for clinical trials.

The result was at signed, sealed and delivered Covid vaccine delivered in near-record time.
