Ben Carson and his wife belong to a foreign church.

Ben Carson claims to be a Christian, as when he held up a sign for a Facebook picture that said, "I am a Christian (fish)". But he's actually from a family of Seventh-Day Adventists. Adventists claim adherents over 18 million worldwide, but only a scant 7% live in the US. Muslims in the US outnumber Adventists two to one.

Adventists believe in tolerance for other faiths, and we've seen that in Dr. Carson's recent comments about Muslims and Jews.

Adventists believe in not carrying weapons, and Dr. Carson thinks unarmed people can bum-rush a motivated guy with an assault rifle.

Adventists believe that the planet was created in six days, and that it's due to be destroyed in about six days. Dr. Carson believes that climate change is "irrelevant".

Adventists believe that Adam and Eve set the only guideline for marriage that we should use, instead of, say, Abraham or Solomon. Dr. Carson likens gay marriage to requiring car seat makers to accommodate conjoined twins.

Many Adventists refrain from vaccination. Dr. Carson says that there are too many vaccines out there.

The highest numbers of Adventists are in South and Central America, and eastern central Africa. And the question we need to ask is, will we advocate to put an Adventist in charge of this nation?

Gallup JUNE 20, 2008

PRINCETON, NJ -- There is a significant political divide in beliefs about the origin of human beings, with 60% of Republicans saying humans were created in their present form by God 10,000 years ago, a belief shared by only 40% of independents and 38% of Democrats.

Ben Carson's views on the age of the earth, and the irrelevance of environmental problems are fairly widespread.

Rich people seldom have these opinions. Nevertheless, they would benefit from the ten percent flat tax that Ben Carson advocates. Rich people will also not be harmed by the ten percent cuts Ben Carson advocates in Social Security and Medicare.

Ben Carson should be taken seriously as someone who might be our next president.

They should give him an IQ test (well all of them really) he has to be the dumbest fucking neurosurgeon in history! I have yet to hear him say one thing that makes actual sense!

He was an undergraduate at Yale, and got his medical degree from the University of Michigan. Because he is black he probably got into both schools with affirmative action policies. Nevertheless, he still seems to be pretty intelligent.

I distrust the judgment of anyone who believes in the literal truth of the Genesis creation story. Such a person believes what he wants to believe. I want a president who believes what can be proven rationally, even when what can be proven are often unpleasant truths.

Nevertheless, you should not evaluate a political message by the effect it has on you, but on the effect it has on its chosen audience.

I do not have a television, so I have not been able to watch the debates. What I have read about Ben Carson leads me to believe that he has a likable personality. In politics that matters a lot.

Hillary Clinton does not seem to have a likable personality. To older white blue collar workers she probably seems like a harsh, strident women's libber, left over from the late 1960's. To younger white blue collar workers I suspect that she reminds them of an elementary school teacher who gave them bad grades and made them stay after school.

Most Americans are worse off economically then they were when Barack Obama was inaugurated president. Although unemployment is lower than it was in January 2009, the median income adjusted for inflation is also lower. Millions of Americans have gone for years without a raise. Millions more are working at jobs that pay less than the jobs they lost. This makes the electorate vulnerable to the appeals of the snake oil salesmen in the Republican Clown Car.

He learned a skill. That doesn't automatically make him intelligent. He doesn't know what the debt ceiling is, he thinks the Jews LET the holocaust happen because they didn't fight back (with guns). I could go on and on with the stupid stuff he has said.
Don't make the mistake of assuming just because he's a doctor, it doesn't make him intelligent. He may be likeable ( although I'm not sure I agree with you there as how likeable can a guy be who blames the Jews for thier own extermination?) most people mistake his "Soft, Calm Slow speach" for being likeable, but that's not enough to run a country. It's just not. People think Barack Obama is a nice guy, did it help him be a better president?
Don't forget to look passed the
"I'm a nice guy and a doctor" stick, to the fact that his policies are terrible when it comes to immigration and Tax.
He was such a follower that when they were at the debate and trump was going on about immunisation and how your kid would get epilepsy.(This is a POSSIBLE side affect of some shots, but still, a 1 out of a hundred thousand chance of epilepsy or a MUCH MUCH HIGHER chance of catching and dying of whatever your immunising from) Did he pipe in and correct him as a DOCTOR? No, just stood there and preyed to look good to the cameras. Although my opinion of him would have changed if he had had the balls to correct Trump. Fox News would have loved that! Ben Carson trumps Trump!

Bottom line, I'm just not sold on him. I'm amazed that these politicians can say such stupid things in a public forum, say them as fact and not be called up on it! The end result is a bunch of people who are misinformed and confused about the facts. Who end up voting for someone that's conned them into it with lies!

Youre right. Hillary and Jeb Bush make it clear they aint working for you, they serve corporations and foreign princes eager to keep Washington bought. Its a struggle tween Stalin and Trotsky.

Carson is smart enough but incapable of recruiting enough like-minded folks to make a government. Government works best with a crew of pirates who share the loot. Philosopher/coroners don't cut it.

I'm not sold on him either. I think his policies are terrible, and that he would be likely to make terrible mistakes. Someone who thinks God started the universe six thousand years ago might think God is telling him to nuke Russia, or China, or any other country that angers him.

My point is that what he is and what he says appeals to a log of people, and he might be our next president. That scares me a lot.

Carson said he doesn't necessarily believe the earth is only 6,000 years old, but does believe it was created in 6 days (as we know days), believes carbon dating isn't relevant because god can alter the results and he believes there's enough water on the planet to have submerged the Andes during the great flood.

Yeah so? What do you believe?

Carson is no philosopher. He might be smart enough to understand neurology, but he manifestly is not smart enough to understand philosophy. No philosopher in this day and age could conceivably be a Young-Earth Creationist.

As my brother the engineer says, doctors are just glorified mechanics. I.e., neurosurgery is the kind of thing you can learn without really thinking, in the sense that a philosopher or any intellectual thinks. (The underlying scientific research would have required thought.)

I'm not running for president, so what I believe is pretty irrelevant.
However, the evidence is that the earth is about 4.5 billion years old, it wasn't created in 6 days and there isn't enough water to have submerge all land a mere few thousand years ago.

Of course, if you believe in god and that he would alter scientific evidence then why not just believe the earth and all of us were created 5 minutes ago?

See the Omphalos hypothesis and Last Thursdayism.

Why? Rick Santorum won Iowa in 2012 and lost. Mike Huckabee won in Iowa 2008 and lost. You have to go back to 2004 when Bush II won Iowa. And he only won Iowa because he had no challengers.

So it's been well over a decade since a "serious" contender for the GOP won Iowa and won the presidency.

Ben Carson is an extraterrestrial alien. He was sent her as a social experiment to see if people would vote for the most insane politician.

What nonsense! The only ET alien in this race is that parasitic organism that lives on Donald Trump's scalp!

Ben Carson’s latest surge in the polls pushes GOP race from comedy to full-blown ’Idiocracy

A CBS/ New York Times poll released on Tuesday found former surgeon and fetal tissue researcher Ben Carson pulling four points ahead of Donald Trump in the national race for the Republican presidential nomination.

By any reasonable standard, Carson is nuts. But that appears to be a feature rather than a bug with Republican primary voters. A poll of Iowa Republicans released by Bloomberg News and the Des Moines Register last week found that 81 percent thought that his statement that Obamacare was the worst thing since slavery — worse than the ebola, New Coke and even the Holocaust! — made him more “attractive” in their eyes. Seventy-one percent said the same of his attributing Hitler’s success to gun control. (Fact-check: Hitler significantly loosened Weimar-era limits on private gun ownership. He did bar Jews from owning them, but only in 1938, when the Nazi war machine was poised to roll over actual armies bristling with heavy weapons.) And nearly three-quarters found his belief that Americans shouldn’t accept a Muslim in the White House super-attractive. The poll only tested a small fraction of the wacky things Ben Carson has said out loud.

The GOP “establishment” duped their constituents for years — and raised a lot of money doing so — so it makes sense that rank-and-file GOP voters no longer have any faith in the establishment.

The Republican establishment is simply reaping what it sowed.

By everything I've read or seen so far, this seems to be the bottom line:

"By any reasonable standard, Carson is nuts."

Adventists believe in tolerance for other faiths

I'm gonna call shenanigans on this one.

Like Jehovah's Witnesses, they are notoriously intolerant of other faiths. From a faith perspective, you are not worthy in their eyes unless you are one of them. You are a "worldly person".

And Christians speak poorly of 7DAs all the time. Except for the next upcoming months, where Conservative Christians will either forget all about their previous reservations, or go out of their way not to learn anything about 7DAs to keep from disliking Carson.

The bible also states that Abraham died at the ripe old age of 175. Do you believe that? 6 days could mean 6 billion years for all I know. The point is, what he believes may or may not be in your belief system, but it doesnt make it false. Unless he is talking to his TV, everything is up for grabs IMO. Was there Alien life on Mars? we're going to find out one day....

No, the point is that a person who denies all scientific evidence for something and instead substitutes myth has no business being president.

But you're right, I could be wrong and God created the universe 5 minutes ago, but I'll go with evidence rather than believe God is a liar.
If I ever see contrary evidence I'll reconsider.

6 days could mean 6 billion years for all I know
Not according to Carson. 6 days is 6 days.

No, but scientific facts do make it false.

Was there Alien life on Mars? we're going to find out one day....

 Yeah, we'll find out if we ever send an expedition . . . what's that got to do with Carson? Does he have a position on this?

That's. . .making more sense than I am comfortable with.

What I believe is that the man has some seriously screwed up beliefs as opposed to the scientifically accepted facts. This has two major reasons why it's important, first as is kinda joked about is that someone who buys this crap may very well buy that God wants them to nuke China. We're laughing but we do have a Republicans claiming that God told them to run for President. . .

Then while the president has no real power over education you've still got a problem when the head fucker in charge basically goes "science is BS cus you know God says."

And sure gay marriage seems to be a settled issue and abortion is law but a fanatic with power can move mountains if he has faith.
