“As the President himself once said, elections have consequences. The most recent one being he must work with the Republican-controlled Congress, rather than spout recycled, failed ideas from past speeches. Americans are looking for leadership. They want solutions. The President has the opportunity to put aside politics and engage with the new Congress. We hope he will.”
So even after the election, Americans are looking for leadership. And Trey admits that he and Congress aren't going to provide any.

I think that's a stretch. But they better start forcing Obama to use that veto pen repeatedly and often or at least get the Dems to filibuster like crazy.

Once again: A president gets to claim an electoral mandate of the whole people, independent of Congress' mandate, for his whole term. That's the presidential system for ya -- if you don't like it, go parliamentary.

In any case, no POTUS is obliged, constitutionally or otherwise, to change course in response to midterm results. W was in these same shoes in 2007.

They are honor bound to in the same way that the minority party isn't supposed to just bring a halt to all business. We can't expect the GOP to behave and then not bitch out our people when they do the same scummy shit.
