Welcome to the DragonKeep of The Bay Primeval...my name is Camber and I am the Dragontender here.

My family have long been the Dragontenders here...for many generations. It is something that is bred into us and we carefully watch over them. We will let no harm befall the Dragons here and they realize that they are in a safe place when they come here to mate and nest.
The high cliffs here are perfect for dragons and their lairs. The many caves are just right for the females to lay their eggs and the clifftops are full of bittersweet which is what gives the sires the energy to mate with them.

~Ammalia was restless ~ for some reason unrecognized by her she had again assumed her human form ~ this time as a female ~ it all had something to do with this feeling of something coming ~ glancing out the window overlooking the valley
she wondered why there were so many dragons gathering over the Tor ~ looking more closely she gasped in delight ~ Camber has arrived! “Anethyb” she cried and of course She appeared instantly ~ quickly Ammalia climbed upon Ane’s neck ~ “Hurry!” she said as if Ane couldn’t read her mind ~

~In no time they were settling down in the big open space in front of the largest cave ~ Camber came to the entrance to see about the commotion ~ “Camber! cried Ammalia, running towards her old friend ~ at last ~ I knew you were coming ~ I am so glad to see you ~ so glad your here ~ to stay this time ~ with a rush of wings Anethyb rose to the heights to visit with friends not seen in a long time ~ Ammalia and Camber, arm in arm as always, headed in to Cambers quarters ~

~ Follow me down to the beach Ammalia and we will catch up ~ I had 2 dragons start a nest today and after being gone so long there is so much to do ~

~ as I follow her I can't help remember going down this path so many other times ~

After hearing a commotion outside,I go out and see two old friends of mine that I haven't seen in ages! Anethyb and Ammalia...it's so good to see you! After dropping Ammalia off Anethyb flies off to the roost on top of the mountain and I take Ammalia's arm and lead her down the path to the beach. As we walk along we talk about other times we have walked down here to see to the eggs that are in the warm sand!
We have lots of things to talk about.so much news to catch up on!

"Come Ammalia...it is so hot out here. Let's go up to my quarters and sit in the cool shade and have something to drink."
As we walk along the beach to the stairs that are carved into the side of the cliff...we look up to see Anethyb flying overhead,soaring on the currents.
When they got to the top of the stairs,Ammalia gasped.."This place always takes my breath away when I see it,Camber. I remember when your family moved here after it was abandoned and made friends with the dragons on the mountaintops. They have done much improvements on the old ruins here!"
Camber smiled at Ammalia and nodded her agreement at the beauty of the home carved in the side of the mountain.

~ Camber! I had forgotten about the sunsets from up here ~ I could watch forever ~ but there is much to be done ~ there are others coming back to the Valley ~ it will soon be like it once was I hope ~

~ and there is someone special coming ~ I have no information on who it is or why ~ but it has made me nostalgic ~ I have had visions of other residents here and of times long past ~ that is why I am so happy you are here ~ you are such a part of my past here ~ will there be more of your family coming? ~ we need the sound of children here ~ many of my old family retainers will be here soon ~ there are many children ~ laughing ~ you will be busy chasing them away once they hear there are dragonettes here ~ they will all want a dragon of their own ~ but it is up to you to make sure the right matches are made ~

~ I see you are tired ~ go sleep ~ Anethyb is near and I would watch the sunset from up here if you don't mind ~ many nights have I slept here ~ one more will not matter ~

~By the Dragon ~ Thats the best sleep I have had in a very long time! ~ Ammalia rose from her hammock and stretched... ~ leaning over the railing she saw the empty streets, and the untended fertile fields ~

~ again, Ammalia was struck with the strange feeling that had been bothering her for days ~ since the vision in the Temple, really ~ something is coming, she thought ~ something- or someone ~ she gave a very human shiver even tho the morning was already warm ~ and whistled for Anethyb ~ "Come, my friend, there is still much to be done"

~ Flying over the southern regions in a big circle back to her own dwelling Ammalia felt a pang of loss ~ and again that shiver of something hovering ~ she remembered the families who had dwelt in these caves ~ Anethyb gave a shudder and Ammalia ~ patting her friends neck ~ shook off the feeling and said "You are right my Friend, it's all best forgotten ~

~ pausing before the home of an old friend ~ Ane! Do you hear that? ~ a faint voice ~ weak ~ sounding frozen and desolate ~ but familiar ~ Anethyb makes no answer but continues on her morning flight ~

~ I have spent this day working magic ~ my home is now how it should be ~ used to be ~ the walls ~ carved a thousand years ago or more ~ are freshly whitewashed ~ except for the rooms with the drawings on the walls ~ sacred runes ~ prayers and wishes from another time ~ all the floors are freshly sanded and swept and the mosaics freshened and repaired ~ the colors still astonishing after so long ~ the furniture all repaired and polished ~ all very primitive pieces ~ simplicity being utter elegance in these halls ~ I have added rugs and draperies and pillows from all over the world to brighten the rooms ~ natural dyes of cobalt and crimson and jade ~ even the tiles lining the natural hot spring are brightened and refreshed ~ the pool room lit by dozens of candles ~ pillows lining this room also and cloths of every hue folded and waiting ~

~ Waiting for what? ~ that voice calling out to me rings in my ears ~ my heart quickens when I hear it ~ I feel as if I am Human in my reaction to these things ~ I want to go back to The Chapel and ask what is happening but I know not to go there unless called ~

I slowly walk to the top of the house checking for things undone ~ the flowers I'll add later ~ wondering what has happened to keep Abbeely away ~ Anethyb will not speak of the matter to me ~ it must be very private and very important ~

I reach the roof top and glance over the valley in shock ~ Abbeely! ~ My Friend! ~ What is it that makes you so sad? ~

~ My Anethyb ~ my beautiful Brown friend ~ comes to rest outside my sleeping quarters ~ She whispers in my mind ~ 'Worry not about Abbeely ~ She will be back to herself soon, and She will be ok ~ Worry instead about yourself ~ and with a whoosh She is off to fish and bathe with the other Dragons ~ I walk to my window to watch ~

~ How can I shake this feeling ~ something is happening and I know not what ~ I sit and stare and my mind starts to travel back in time ~ again I hear the Voice in my mind ~ familiar yet not ~ I'm beginning to be afraid I think ~ a feeling unknown to me for centuries ~ in the back of my mind I hear Anethyb laugh softly to herself ~ why can't I read Her? ~

...tripping and falling Albi looks up from the frozen ground. "I don't think I can make it" Looking ahead at the mountain range still to be crossed, he slumps and passes out, whispering 'Ammalia... please... help me!'

A wet nose in my face wakens me. A soft whickering sound reminds me of my journey. Struggling, I rise to my feet, and see the reason for my journey...

A loud ripping sound causes me to startle. I had fallen asleep as I trudged along, step after agonized step. The lightning lit up the world around me. 'So close Ammalia' I whispered...' So close yet still so far.'

But with a renewed strength I remembered I had traveled the earth for a hundred years or more. I have not yet paid for my crime, but I have alleviated some of the pain. And soon I can rest.

~ I cannot sleep ~ I can hardly breathe ~ my body feels like anothers ~ I rise to meditate and pray and suddenly feel my Guardians all around me ~

Waking early,I walk out to the edge of the cliffs overlooking Bay Primeval...and marvel at the beauty of it...the waterfalls,the forests full of wildlife and overhead..the dragons lazily circling in the early sunlight.
I hear a low rumble and turn...there is Anethyb...Ammalia's dragon friend...her protector and companion,flying lower and lower until she lands on the cliff above me and then hops her way down to where I am. Anethyb was born in my Grandmother's time and so has been around for my lifetime and that of my Mother. Being the Dragontender here,I learned at an early age,how to communicate with them and Anethyb has come here to ask about Ammalia.
Ammamlia is not herself this night. She has not slept..she is very quiet,staying in her rooms and not even wanting to fly. Please come to see her and help her if you can!
Immediately,I jump onto her back and she soars off the cliff heading for Ammalia's castle and when I get there I am in shock to find Ammalia curled up in a ball on the floor of her balcony. I help her to her feet and inside to her bed. She laid back,exhausted and looked at me as if she didn't know who I was,then she closed her eyes and drifted onto a light sleep..eyes fluttering as if she were fighting it. I cover her with a sheet,then pull a chair close by her bed to sit and watch over her until she awakens.

I stay here all night...watching over Ammalia and occasionally going out to the balcony to watch the sun rise over the mountains.
I hear a flapping of wings overhead and here is Anethyb again...flying in circles, lower and lower with each circuit until she lands on a platform set away from the balcony as a perch for her when she wishes to visit Ammalia.
How is she,camber? I can feel her restless mind. She is worried about something...someone. She must have been looking at the mountains when she fainted...there is a force pulling her to the mountains. I will fly over them and see if someone or something is there..and if so,will bring them/it here![/SIZE][/B]
I think that is an excellent idea,Anethyb...I will also call more dragons to help you look. I walk to the balcony and look towards the Dragon'sNest, sending my thoughts to Nybor asking her to go with Anethyb.
Returning to the room,I see Ammalia sitting up in bed and by the look on her face I can see she is wondering how she got there. She looks up and seems surprised to see me.
Anethyb came to me and asked me to come see you...when we got here oyu were passed out on the balcony. I helped you to bed and stayed here with you while you slept. What is happening with you, Ammalia? Tell me,maybe i can help you!

~ I awaken and see Cambor sitting by my bed ~ “Cambor! I am so glad you are here! Something is happening to
me ~ I feel as if I’m turning Human ~ Someone is coming and I cannot read who ~ I cannot read Anethyb ~ but
it’s soon, very soon. ~ Please, Cambor, stay with me awhile... Anethyb knows ~ She has been instructed not to share ~ I believe it is because of this Humanity coming on me ~ I have work to do with someone ~ it's something hard ~ something I want to do ~ But for some reason it is scaring me ~ I think tomorrow night I will know ~ it is the Solstice ~ it will all be clear then ~” ~ Closing my eyes, I fall back into a deep sleep. ~

Standing finally on the mountain top I look down into the Valley. My home for many hundreds of years, but I have been away for so long! It is good to be back! It looks as though most of the settlements are empty, but I see some activity around the Dragon Heights. Could it be that the old Cambor is still alive? It must be one of his descendants. I see a lot of dragons flying in the sunlight. It looks like a lot of young ones. Starting down the slope with my companions my step quickens. I wonder if my old home is still livable. I wonder who is still here. I know the Bedazzler is gone- the Immortal Ones work never ends. My heart feels a sharp pang of loss, and thinking sadly of Ammalia, I continue on.

 

[Bedazzler]

~ I awaken sometime in the night ~ Cambor is still here ~ sleeping peacefully on the chaise ~ I tiptoe past her to the window and hear Anethyb on her ledge above me ~ She is laughing in my mind ~ laughing at me ~ I feel the heart pangs again ~ I reach for a blanket and whistle softly ~ Ane flutters silently within reach and I climb on Her ~ I feel like I'm sleepwalking ~ I ask no questions and She rises slowly and turns south ~ in just a few minutes She sets me down in a glade I had often visited a long time ago but almost forgotten ~ the lake here is small and peaceful ~ the water looks like glass with the Moon shining brightly ~ I decide to bathe now and slowly head for the deeper water ~ floating on my back I hear a splash and a snort behind me ~ I turn and look and my heart nearly stops! ~

~ I can't believe what I'm seeing! ~ a Unicorn ~ out of the mist ~ there aren't any more Unicorns ~ I begin to cry and slowly it all becomes clear ~ this is Glass Lake ~ Albigeois named it when he was a child ~ His family were the Keepers of the Unicorns ~ it has been many many years since there were any Unicorns left ~ and his family left here in shame a long time ago ~ where did this one come from? ~

~ I walk slowly towards the creature so as not to disturb Him, and He stands and watches me ~ it's as if we knew each other ~ when I get close He reaches his soft nose and nuzzles me ~ I DO know him ~ It is Luminus ~ Albi's own favorite ~ with a cry of joy and delight I throw my arms around him and He snickers with joy ~

~ I can't believe what I'm thinking, but Albi is near ~ I feel him ~ I know now what is happening and I shout with joy and laughter ~ the sound ringing across the hills ~ Anethyb Trumpets Her own gladness and rises into the air ~ a great blast of flame lighting up the night ~ suddenly I hear trumpeting all around me ~ Dragons fill the night sky and the stars sing with the them ~ The Solstice has begun! ~

Cresting the ridge of the mountain range that has been such a trial to cross, I gaze in wonderment at the panorama below me.
Is it an Omen that I arrive just in time for the Solstace?
Mayhap there will be a call for my meager talents at some fete or gathering. It has been a long tiring journey, and my stomach growls...

I awaken and look towards the bed...Ammalia isn't there...where could she be? I send my thoughts out through the sunny sky and receive thoughts back from Anethyb..Ammalia was bathing in Glass Lake and found a unicorn.

A Unicorn? There haven't been any unicorns here for ages! Anethyb tells me that the unicorn's name is Luminous...that was the name of a favorite unicorn of an old friend..could it be? Is Albi on his way home?
I don't know if he will remember me or not,I was a small child helping my Grandmother,whom I was named after,care for the dragon hatchlings that were born the year I saw Albi last.

I remember that today is The Solstice...a day of celebration...too bad there aren't many people here anymore to celebrate! It would be so nice if a wandering minstrel showed up to help brighten the moods of everyone. I call out for my friend and companion, a purple dragon named Elisel whom I raised from a hatchling. She is still a baby compared to many of the other dragons on the Heights but is already one of the better trained dragons. She arrives in a flurry of her wings and holds out one out so I can climb aboard and return to my home atop the mountain.
