The Tigress is a bridesmaid on Saturday 8/9!!!!!!!

I am soooooooo excited......being in my first real wedding!!!!
Saturday is just right around the corner!

Well, when I was way younger, the only other weddings
I've been to were for my uncle (my dad's younger
brother).......married twice (divorced twice).....the second
wedding I was old enough to be a junior bridesmaid
but nothing was really involved with that.

So this is a whole new experience for me........I've been
learning a lot of diff things, so when my time comes around,
I'll be ready!

Just had the rehearsal and the dinner afterwards tonite...
which went well !

I couldn't resist starting a thread......I am so friggin
excited!!!!

And oh yes.......I have a date (my guest!) who will be there,
and I am not saying who it is....but he's from Lit

Had a bit of excitement on the way home. Picked up a piece of metal and shredded a tire on I-40. Things are fine. I did get a ride in my van on the top of a flatbed!!!

If you are taking a camera, just have them put the pictures on a disc too when you get them developed. It costs me an extra $3.95 to do that. I think just about anyplace can do that. I go to Walgreens. Just a drugstore that developes pics too. I bet Walmart, K-Mart do that as well.

Yup I was. It surprised me too. He had me keep the engine running, put it in neutral and a metal cable pulled me up. He chained it down.....Had me put the van in park and we were off.........

That was a ride. I have had some thoughts of a Lit story go through my mind, but it didn't come together yet..... I know my mind is in the gutter.

To those inquiring minds.......DETAILS! (PART ONE)

Yes......details.......I will start w/ Saturday morning......

6:30am.......got up w/ the alarm after only 5 hours of
sleep.....saw my date at his hotel only a few hours
before........proceed to get up and sleepwalk to the
bathroom.......showertime.......thank god I washed my
hair the night before........

6:50am......lite breakfast of two lite waffles and lite
syrup, oj, vitamins.......afterwards, quickly make my
bed and brush my teeth, and get dressed in casual
clothes......Mom proceeds to warm up the flat iron to
do my hair with, to get most of the frizz out......

7:35am......grab dress, suitcase (had two pairs of shoes,
one pair for the ceremony then a lower heeled pair for
dancing at the reception; makeup bag, undergarments
for the dress, and other thingamjigs (i.e. bandaids, safety
pins, Aleve) that might be needed.

8am....arrive at my friend's parents' house.....her mom
laid out a breakfast for all the girls...oj, fresh fruit, coffee,
mini muffins, Balance bars...yogurt.....most of us are too
keyed up to eat much; I just have some fruit and oj..am
way too jumpy for coffee....plus I don't want to have to
keep running to the bathroom.....

8:15am.....The caravan of two cars---my friend the bride
(her car)....and my car brings everybody over to the salon
right around the corner.....its a very posh salon.....my friend
treated us to getting our hair done, which is a very
nice thing! While others are getting their hair done, others
are allowed to use spare mirrors in the salon to apply
makeup to save time. The bride-to-be is in the back of
the salon getting her hair done....HOWEVER, she was
informed that the makeup artist that was going to be
doing her makeup quit on Friday So my friend had
to do her own makeup, which she can do easily.

DETAILS.....(PART TWO)

9:15am........my turn to get my hair done! I had done
my makeup very successfully...and mind you, I don't
usually wear much makeup except for lip gloss and
mascara (lipstick for special occasions). I took my time
with it that morning though, even w/ the new cream
eyeshadow...just added a little at a time...ANYHOW...
the woman who did my hair was British and she was
a tough cookie to her assistant who was helping her
out (w/ handing her bobby pins, hair pins, etc.) but she
was very good......I had a classic French Twist done,
w/ a little height to it (not too much).....understand that
I am not a fan of super crazy hair styles.......I stick to
classics....... anyhow, it came our real nice.....had three
mini orchids put on top of it, plus 5 of those tiny sparkly
hair thingys lining up w/ the twist itself. All the bridesmaids
had orchids in their hair, but not all of us had sparkly
thingys, as I later found out. But all of our hair turned out
great!

9:45am......Me and two of the girls (my friend and two
other girls still at the salon) arrive at the house....ready
to change into our dresses and shoes. The photographer
is there already, prompt, and already pressed for time.
It is a job to get into the undergarments.....but had no
problem w/ mine as I have worn them at least twice
before Saturday. It is a team effort getting into our dresses,
as they are two piece----a long A-line skirt paired w/ a
fitted sleeveless top, not low cut, but still very elegant.
The back of the top is laced like a corset would be; all
of us had our back panel for that taken out so we can
show some skin, baby! One of the bridesmaids however
had hers in halfway because her bra was showing in the
back.

Between 10-10:15am.......my friend is rushed upstairs to
her room to get her bridal dress on, and the two other
bridesmaids rush into the other room to get their dresses
on, and we help them out also. All of us are wearing
the same shoes, about 2-2 1/2 inch heels, black w/ sparkly
on the buckle on the toes and ankle (by Mootsies Tootsies),
and earrings that we all received as gifts at Thursday's
rehearsal dinner----Swarovski crystal----mine were tiny moons!
We all received a different pair of earrings geared toward
our personality and tastes, which was real cool.

10:35am........ceremony supposed to start 11am.....bride is
still up in her room w/ her mom and a neighbor, who is a
seamstress, getting on that dress.....us bridesmaids get pix
outside individually....after another 5 minutes, the bride
decends down the staircase.......all decked out in her dress
and veil! Mahhhhhhhvelous!! We get pix w/ her, both
formal and somewhat informal ones.......she gets pix w/
her parents, and also by herself. It is not until 11:20am that
we finally pile into the limo and rush off to the church which is
less than 5 minutes away! Oh yes, almost forgot......the
bridesmaids had nosegays made of pink roses and mini
white orchids.......the bride had a nosegay of pink and red
roses w/ mini white orchids.

DETAILS ............(PART THREE)

11:25am...........bride and bridesmaids arrive at the
church..........we see three of the groomsmen at the entrance
area, all in tuxes w/ vests (NO cummerbunds!) and each had
a boutinnere (sp?) of a rose and a mini white orchid. We
all form a human wall so the bride can get inside w/out
anybody from inside the sanctuary noticing.......the music
playing was by an Irish flute and harp duet (very beautiful!);
and us bridesmaids started to line up! I was the FIRST one
down (cuz I'm short and I'm' cute!), and so on, and then
the matron of honor.....

And then......THE BRIDE and her father....EVERYONE stands
up! It's like the paparazzi down the aisle for all of us, esp.
her! I can't believe it was happening......I almost started
crying but remembered that I didn't have a tissue on me.....

Then it was the Mass, as it is a Catholic church. Two of
the guests close to the family did readings. The priest did
a very short sermon (!)......and the vows occurred shortly
after. Then the usual part of the Mass, Communion and
whatnot happened, and before we all knew it, it was time
to exit! Since we had one extra bridesmaid, one of the guys
got to walk down w/ TWO bridesmaids! (I was one of the
lucky two..heehee!) Next thing we know, everyone is piling
out of the church......and I'm anxiously looking for my date,
who finally shows up......I spotted him when I was walking
down the aisle and he was getting pix of me.......so good to
see him dressed up I thought I was going to melt into the
sidewalk! Anyhow, I get my stuff (my comfy shoes, dressy
bag, and other needed stuff) from the trunk of the limo, and
me and my date get into his car, and make the crazy trek
from Fairfield to New Haven, running into traffic along the way!
