Strictly speaking it was the English Puritans who brought Thanksgiving day to the US. The Puritans did not recognise Christmas or Easter. The only recognised three Holy days as specified in the New Testament - one of those was Thanksgiving Day.

Well, we don't have pumpkin pie here, but we did pick up a pecan pie cheesecake hybrid at Wally world last night. Looks yummy. Funny thing is I wanted Pecan Pie and he wanted cheesecake. I just happened to look over and find what would make us both happy.
