Here's a different question. What is the root of the incest fetish? I suspect that the origin dates to pubescence when social development is still limited and our attentions are still mostly on immediate family. It does in my own self-analysis as well as in some psych papers I've read.

In that case, underage characters should actually be the norm in incest stories and all of our over-18 stories are kind of writing around the reality.

Part one, that is sort of an endless loop. One person cannot stop egging on shit other always respond because they don't feel they should have to take it.

IN this case Pilot admitted he was baiting by pretty much saying most of the readership in incest want under age sex. he has no right to speak for other people, not one, let alone many. Starting an attack then going oh poor me is his MO and its a shame the mod here seems to play favorites with who they go after.

To your question, as corny as it sounds perhaps because it is simply so taboo. Sex is so open now because of the internet, every fetish type of porn at your fingertips so people tend to go deeper an deeper and look for the 'ultimate' line to cross and that would be family.

For me the interest lies with the emotional as much as the physical. The idea that love knows no boundaries and that a brother and sister, despite what 'nature' and society says is wrong, will fall in love.

Loving the one person in the world you are told you can't. Being a satanist and not buying into 'Gods' laws and buying less into man made rules regarding rights and wrongs(other than basic criminal obvious things of course) I get a kick out of anything considered forbidden by religion and society.

That is simply speaking for myself, note I don't claim what the other 99% of people think.

I find the readers are a mixed bag, many seem to have wanted a family member at one time, but never acted on it so they live their desire through these stories ina harmless manner.

Others, like myself, have no incestuous desires for any blood relatives so its all fantasy for me. What I mean is I have no desire for my mother, I would not think sex with my mother could be hot. But a mother having sex with her son is. If that makes sense.

Except incest, like non consent, in the real world with all fiction and fantasy elements taken away is a crime and a disturbing one. Let's face it, 18 and over consensual loving incest is not what we get in the real world, most in th real world is molestation and abuse of young kids.

But there are a hell of a lot of siblings out there with real life stories of "I'll show you mine, you show yours" types of experiences, far more than would ever admit it.

All I know is anywhere the kink is allowed, (or its watered down "step" version) it dominates the market. So there are a lot of people into it.

If you're talking the attraction to an author, its the numbers which can far exceed any other category. But its like anything else, the best incest authors, have or get the kink.

The authors who go the route of I want those numbers too and wing their way through it do not do as well. The incest crowd knows what they want and they know when the author wants it too and also knows when is disingenuous.

Pilot's contempt for the category is on full display here and it shows when he tries to write it, hence his below average numbers there-and not scores that can be blamed on trolls, but things like very-and I mean very few comments and favs and votes-lead to more contempt.

I know it will raise a shit storm here and I'll post on it just this once here, but I believe that 80 percent of the urge to write incest at all is being dialed into wanting to write pedophile sex. It's OK with me for others to write it, but I can't see any other motivation. I've written some incest, but I've had to strain to make any sort of story out of it that doesn't serve that fetish.

Its very long, which isn't that unusual for me (I've done back to back 22 page Halloween contest entries) but there is no incest until way the hell in.

That's why I decided on it being a long one shot contest entry rather than chapters as it would be four or five chapters with no 'real' incest. There is however a lot of incest role play of sorts to hold interest, or at least that is the plan.

I/T seems to be in kind of a funk right now. Skimming the list, it looks like there are a lot of recycled setups and story lines. Is a sudden lack of creativity the problem?

On the other hand, readers seem to like the same stories over and over again, with the names changes and words rearranged a bit. I guess if you're doing a one-handed read then a new idea might be tough to deal with.

Funny you call that out because I think that all the time. If you look at the all time favorite story list(not just taboo, but the entire site) I think there's four mom on son's lap type stories in the top 25 or so

As for a funk, again I see what you see, a lot of the same types of stories, but...as we all know readers want that over and over again, maybe the familiarity? It;s like people who eat the same thing for lunch every day and never get bored with it.

Its hard to say anything is unique in any category here, no matter what you concoct, on a site this big someone else has done a variation of it.

And that's all we can do is try to take known ideas and give our spin.

Now I have one series here I feel I could say is very different from anything else here. Siblings with Benefits. Now if you run down the scores its a ton of 4.7's and 4.8's, but at the time? I was lucky to be getting 50 votes a chapter while things like "sis has boobs!" were getting 900. Different is not a great thing here

But I will write what I choose.

Maybe, things like that we can only guess on.

I know a couple years ago when Lush stories decided to get rid of their incest category because they got tired of weeding through and rejecting tons of under age attempts, lit received a new influx of taboo traffic.

But for me personally, in the last year a lot of my non contest i/t stories got a lot fewer votes and comments than the couple years prior and the scores were a little lower.

Contest entries seem to still see those 1500 or so vote numbers.

Something else I noted, is obviously if you have a following in a category you will get bigger numbers than occasional writers there or newbies.

But I'm seeing authors with no history in the category raking in big numbers on their i/t stories and established authors getting lower numbers. It made me wonder if lit wasn't starting some type of amazon like algorithm and maybe putting lesser known authors on top of searches to help them out? Again, no one knows anything, we just take shots in the dark.

I have noticed something suspicious and will leave off the name-especially because I don't think that person is doing it themselves(can anyone say scrouries? Maybe...)

But Silkstockinglover is insane here, 15k+ favs and she can hit 2k votes on an incest story falling out of bed, especially for contest entries. Yet her latest is way below her last few and she is using the same over the top porno title she admits really works for her and nothing unusual to turn people off

But another author in one day-and not one of the bigger voting days-doubled her 3 day vote total in that one day.

When I see things like that I just feel someone is screwing around with something here.
