a thing of beauty, but i can see why that would hurt.

Wow.

It hurts because it's squeezing through an itty bitty tube, not because it's sharp. Still. Fucking wow.

a stone coming out hurts a lot more than a catheter going in, so i'm told, so it seems logical that the abrasiveness would contribute to the pain.

There's pain, then there is kidney stone pain. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Best laugh I've had all day. You'd wish it on your political detractors in a heartbeat, then put up a dozen posts rationalizing why it was okay for YOU to do that.

as the stone travels through your system. the pressure build up is worse than the exit

There are different dietary recommendations depending upon whether the stone is of the calcium oxalate or of the uric acid variety.

The unfortunate fact is that those who suffer an initial incident are highly likely (>75%) to suffer recurring episodes.

I've had one. Two, actually. Once it passes through the little tiny tube the pain goes away until you pee it out. Pissing it out is more uncomfortable than painful. The period of horrific pain comes from the size of the tube it goes through on the way to the penis, not the sharpy triangles. If you look at Dove Soap under a microscope I'm sure it looks like shards of jagged glass. I'm sure.

I've had stones twice.
I now do everything possible to prevent them.
You are right - I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy..... not even KRC!
I've been told that even though I am doing all the right things, chances are I will develop them again regardless :(

I currently have a stone that is too big to pass. It's being held in place by cysts. I have kidney issues. :(

hey avoid spinnach,tomato,lemon.....
use aquaguard filter for drinking water....

The thing with kidney stones is that the pain is so bloody annoying.

Most time when you're in pain, the best thing to do is DON'T ROCK THE BOAT. Find a position where there's the least discomfort, and stay there. ...unless you're, like bleeding to death and need to get to the hospital.

But not with kidney stone. It builds up and gets worse and worse, unless you perpetually hobble around like a hyperventilating geriatric penguin. Not only is it painful, but it's counter-intuitive and embarrassing.
