This thread will be for boasting and appreciation of boasting only. If you've done something you're proud of - lost weight, wrote a really GREAT story, aced a test, left the car at home and WALKED to work, pulled the sheet off a Klan-member, or saved the world from evil aliens; boast about it here. We focus too much on negative things, let's enjoy praising ourselves and our own actions!

I'll go first (OK, that WAS why I created this thread  ):

My class had an assignment for today; to evaluate a website. Today was the day to hold a speech to the rest of the class and the super-critical teacher about the results of the evaluation.
I volunteered to go first, which was a little evil to my classmates, as it turned out I was a tough act to follow. Then again, I've always enjoyed show-and-tell, and I've worked as a teacher, I'm good at speaking to an audience. I got the highest grade possible - "VG" (=Very Good).:nana:
My classmates complimented me for being the best. :nana:
Only two more assignments now... and NaNo...

Shite things happened today. Things went badly and I started off with being tired, crabby and feeling put-upon as well as thoroughly bad-food deprived as I'm on a diet. But, instead of descending into maudlinness and depression, I took my seraphinite to work and meditated with it for 5 minutes, staying calm and thinking of good things. Even bureaucracy and form filling didn't bring me down (too much).

I think there might be something in this God thing.

*hugs muchly* That's wonderful, and definately something to boast about!

... I really must get some Seraphinite.

Someone I admire very much, told me yesterday, that-
My writing touches, some practices which they normally considers unpleasant. That I was able to convey to them, why someone else would want to do these things.. and in fact, induce them to feel the eroticism I was claiming.

This person then read another story, and reported the same effect. They said;
"I don't know if that is something you have intentionally mastered or simply a natural talent, but whatever it is, I'm deeply impressed and more than a tad envious"

Since EVERY SINGLE story this person writes is on the hot list- I feel indecently triumphant about it.

Svensflicka, congratulations! It always feels good to hear that you smoke the competition!

I substituted for my journalist daughter for a review.

The sub-editor passed it unchanged.

Now I know that I can imitate my daughter's writing style.

She asked me to. (A feeble excuse)

She was supposed to be in two places simultaneously. Helping daughters is what fathers are for...

I managed to endure the unbelievable stress of US immigration and security checks......WITHOUT....... losing my temper, or ever losing my inherent natural British charm........;) and believe me.........when there are hundreds of 'Foreign Nationals', (many of whom were young....very young ........children) who have just endured a 10 hour non-stop flight waiting VERY patiently to make their way through 3 immigration entry booths.......this is no mean feat........

............you can still see the teeth marks in my fist where it was jammed in my mouth. :D:

You have far more patience than I. ;)

I've sent another boxload of stuff to Pine Ridge: blankets, clothes, etc., and am looking forward to buying a couple of Christmas gifts for some elders to send up there in the next couple of weeks. Just wish I could do more.

I've also "adopted" a home for elders on a reserve in Ontario. I know where all my Christmas money is going, anyway.

Well done Matriarch.

Last time I went to France I went through the full security procedure - strip search and all. I mentioned my ordeal when I arrived at the event I had gone to France for - and received a written apology signed by the Mayor.

Apparently I should have waved my invitation card and all would have been well.

I suppose terrorists don't have invitations.

Stella... Svenskaflicka. Not Svensflicka. That means Sven's Girl. *shudder*

Mum was so proud when I told her about this morning's success, her voice was vibrating a little.
When we hung up, she said she was going to make coffee for dad and spread the boast to him, too.

I love it when I can make my parents proud of me. I owe them so much for all their kindness, and this is the only way I can give something back to them.

that's kind of what I thought!
What does "Svenskaflicka" mean? I do get a little dyslexic, honest. And spell check takes care of what it can, but it's useless for so many things... :(

And that is deserving of a congrats, too!

Svenskaflicka means "Swedish Girl", and it's a phrase all the guys at tourist resorts learns, so they can pick up drunk Swedish tourists. :D

Only when she wants me to.

I help my eldest daughter. She's a teacher. I provide materials, briefing notes on topics, help with school outings and glare at misbehaving pupils when required.

My middle daughter is the journalist. If stuck, and she rarely is, I can source stories for her. I can get her introductions to people she might want to interview. I have run her around when she couldn't drive because of the after-effects of an operation. Covering an amateur dramatic production for her is no big deal.

My youngest daughter is now (a whole 2 months) a doctor. I have found people for her to examine who have 'interesting' ailments, found people for interview when she was studying a topic and provided her with dozens of medical books from my bookshop (useful for different opinions from her standard textbooks. When she was at school and considering medicine I introduced her to local doctors not in the practice that treated her.

That's what fathers do. But only when asked.

I feel like such a Good Girl. I sat down and worked hard this morning, and now my essay's finished. I just need to type it down (I write everything by hand in a notepad, it's the only way I can be creative) so I can mail it to my classmates for responses. Then the cleanwrite. And the Power Point presentation... but the worst part is done now. After this, it's just minor clean-ups and adjustments and corrections here and there.
Phew! What a load off my back! :nana:

I think I passed my exam. Actually, I'm pretty sure I did. Question is - do I get a "Passed" or a "Passed With Honors"? :nana:

It's Friday night there. Soon comes "Passed Out".

Good going girl.

Not before I watched all the Simpsons Halloween Specials!

It's that episode with Harry Potter right now. :nana:

I haven't killed anybody at work yet.

Sincerely,
ElSol

Well, I lost 18 pounds since end of July AND managed to keep it off these past 3 weeks of no working out, and halloween candy, and stress of the husband (the only source of external income) being out of work.

Now if I have enough Karma on bank for him to start the new job MOnday and Not Tuesday I will be incredibly happy.

On a sad note though, I calmed down a friend this week. She had been in a halloween parade and she was driving the hummer the Tae Kwon Do school had, and was totally freaking. She had been soo worried about running over a kid in the parade, but she got through OK, but then she found out someone else actually did! The boy is OK, he was brought to the hospital with 'non life threatening injuries' but she was super freaked that it could have been her that did it if things were just a little differant. I hope that made sense
