The Story of Stuff

I watched part of it.

It's Usual Suspect Propaganda.

First, the American military doesnt consume 50% of our economy. The real amount is about 20%. Welfare consumes about 50%.

Second, there are more trees in America today than there were in 1776. Recall that 98% of Americans were farmers in 1776, and they felled most of the timber east of the Mississippi River for crops and energy. There was a serious scarcity of hardwood in 1870 when Standard Oil needed wood to make barrels for its oil. America was filled with farms that cleared land for crops and pastures.

Third. In the 19th Century America moved by horseback. Horses shit a prodigious amount of manure. Consequently, every road and street and stream was filled with shit. People shit all over the place, too.

Fourth. America burned wood and coal for energy. There were no clear, pristine skies above America.

This video is being utilized currently in U.S. schools to help provide students with insight into the consumer economy. It has won a ton of awards and it is really interesting. The link is below:

What do you think about it?

A bit over-simplified, I think.
Too many individual matters (for example, BFRs) just rounded up and presented as a fait accompli .
Personally, I HATE some twerp talking to me as if I was a retarded seven-year-old. Was all that hand-waving necessary (mime or sign language?).
