The stars have aligned against me...

It's true. {What follows is a rant}

The best meteor shower from this comet's tail is tonight. If CNN does tell some truth every now and then, the optimum time to watch it will be sometime around 5:30 in the morning (4:30 for me, but given the rate at whcih they should be coming, would I notice? No). The put a little thing on the bottom stating the next best show would be in 2099. I'll be 120 then. Not that it doesn't occur every year, but I'm not good at catching these. Despite going out to see it, I missed Haley's Comet last time. To young to really know what I was looking for, I guess. I'll be 80 something when it comes back around. Regardless, a dandy of a meteor shower should be on display tonight.

But no. It's raining outside. Nice, thick layer of cloud cover to prevent any star gazing. Even if it were to clear up overnight, I'm in no condition to go out and watch them. I'm having a nice bout with a cold. Being out in the freezing rain (or just being out freezing for that matter) isn't something I should be doing in my condition. So I gotta cross it out.

With the exception of that one comet that came by sometime in the late ninties (I forget it's name - I keep thinking Shoemaker-Levy 9, even though I know that was Jupiter comet, not ours), I've missed the better astrological events so far in my (admittedly short) life.

Hmm. I know I'll have more chances in the future, but I really lament missing these things. I think they're soooooo neat.

*sigh* Oh well, maybe next year.

the comet in the 90s was the Hale-bopp. Or something like that.

And I'm in a similar situation as you.

I think the clouds are the ones who aligned against you. You shouldn't unfairly place blame on the stars, they can only do so much, ya know.

I was thinking quasars. With all their pulsing and twinkling in the sky.

And I know it not the stars. I meant fate. But if not religion or destiny, well, I got to blame something then. Can't just be chance year after year.

Hale bop was also a pop song.

It's a beautiful world we live in, full of versatile words.

I am going shortly avec my Hudsons Bay blanket to the beach to watch meteors. It's unseasonably warm and very clear here tonite. Yay!
