Modern American conservatism includes both neoconservatives, who are foreign military interventionist warhawks; and paleoconservatives, who are isolationists and recognize the DOD as as egregious a case of expensive biggummint as anything in the New Deal.

After this week, they can no longer march together.

Trump is running a coalition of factions and overinflated egos. He is herding cats. The occasional catfight and dramatic exit is a cost of doing business.

🙄

Unfortunately for DonOld & the MAGAt republicans, they are going to need every vote they can get in upcoming elections.

Which leads me to believe that DonOld & the MAGAt republicans are setting the stage for the suspension of the constitution & elections.

👎

We. Told. Them. So.

On most issues, we can and do.

The Democrats are also a coalition of factions. That's the nature of a two-party system. The difference between our system and the European systems is that we build our coalitions before the election, while they build theirs afterwards.

So THAT'S why theirs works better!

The factions are:
1. RW populist/nationalists, heirs to the Reform Party and the Tea Party. Stubbornly isolationist -- ideological descendants of the WWII America Firsters. Economic nationalists -- they object to the drug trade in a way they would not if the drugs were home-grown.
2. Neocon warhawks -- they peaked in the W years, and now it appears they did not entirely die out.
3. Libertarians, who vote Pub like Communists vote Dem -- for lack of a more suitable choice that isn't a wasted vote. Usually isolationist.
4. Christian nationalists, who have no particular interest in this kind of war, not since you can no longer call it anti-Communist.
5. White nationalists, who don't much care what happens in nonwhite countries.
6. Business interests, who control the GOP more than anyone else. Not always in accord with the Libertarians, especially WRT corporate welfare and sweetheart contracts. Business has no interest in any political system as such.

Proving again that you don't know what you're talking about.

No, you do not. As I've said, I have grown up in it, studied it, and had to put up with clowns like you for decades.

Obviously, you got no clear picture of conservatism FROM THE INSIDE -- which is often a difficult thing to do.
