The smell of babies

What did you replace the sweet smell of babies with when yours grew up?

The sweet pungent aroma of freedom.

I love my kids, and believe me, if I found out I was pregnant right now, I wouldn't be heartbroken, but I wouldn't be the happiest camper either. (Then I'd be wondering where the hell s/he came from. Haven't had sex in a VERY long time!!)

I don't ever remember NOT having children. My oldest is 21 and my youngest is 12. It's nice to have freedom from diapers, worrying about childcare and two o'clock feedings.
I'm content.

Replaced By HUGE Freaking Messes & Swill Experiments!

But I Do So Look Forward To The Next Small Person:D

Babies are stinky. My niece dropped a load today and when my mother went to change the diaper, I gagged for about 20 mins. Dee-fucking-sgusting!

My house has only ever briefly had that wonderful baby smell. My nephews visits are always much too short for it to linger long.

Someday, it will have that beautiful mix of warm skin, baby powder, and love from a baby of my own.

ooooohhhh stop it, all of you. I got my 'monthly' today and it's just another reminder that shit, there's another (probably) perfectly viable egg gone down the tubes and you know, I am not getting any younger. I used to think this whole biological clock thing was just such a load of old bollocks. Now I am jealous everytime I see a woman with that nice round baby belly. :(

Mine are grown ..really grown up. But even now I sprinkle baby powder on pillows, sheets..anything that it won't hurt just to smell the "baby smell"

The baby smell at my house was replaced with the typical smells of a boy. Dirty socks, lots of mud tracked in & out, things like that. I loved all the phases from babyhood to teenage aftershave.

I am sorry peachykeen. Good luck to you.

I understand exactly how you're feeling. The teacher that i work with everyday, side by side, is pregnant. She's 13 weeks tomorrow. Some mornings it takes everything in me not to cry. I just walk away. Luckily, she knows how i feel and doesn't get upset.

The ticking doesn't go away either, it just gets louder.

It's amazing how that scent lingers forever. My daughter uses Lavender after bath lotion on my grandbaby, and I can't put her down for hours. Then the smell gets on my shirt, and I'm constantly reminded of her.

Peechykeen and Morninggirl, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. I know how rough it can be, I have a friend that has been trying for many years. She has moments of sadness, but she always hangs on to the hope. I swear, if I could, I would have the baby for her.

Oh ha ha, thank you all so much for your kindness and well wishes, but to be honest it's not that my husband and I have been trying and been unsuccessful - I know for wwomen who are in that situation, it is very painful.

We are not actually trying to get pregnant yet, it's just that I feel quite 'ready' physically. However, being expats, we just literally do not know right now what continent we will be on in six months time! We will probably still be here in England for a while, but if my husband's company doesn't pull in a couple more big jobs soon we could be back in the US. Or if they get a major contract in France they are hoping for, we might be sent there. We just figure, a baby needs a bit more stability than that, eh? We should have a better idea in the next 3 to 4 months what the next couple of years will bring, but right now we're in a major state of flux.

So, no babies for now. But soon as things are clearer and we can make real plans...I'm really looking forward to it.

Oh you meant the smell of babies cooking?

Yum and yum.

That baby smell is decieving, they grow up and become kids. They fight and squabble and mess your clean house all up. They drive you simply out of your mind. Then they go to sleep and you fall in love with those people all over again.:D

When my kids were no longer babies, I started taking care of others peoples babies.
