Why is that most people are cowards? They have beliefs, but always would rather just watch, then confront the bad. Kind of like the German people who lived near Concentration Camps. They believed it was wrong, but didn't talk about it, didn't bring it up, were too afraid to speak. And yet they were a silent majority. It's sad, isn't it?

I don't give my opinion on everything that comes my way. I feel it best to pick and choose my battles. Personally, I get sick of people who have views on EVERYTHING and feel the need to ram their opinions down the throats of others. This "picking and choosing" approach works for me because when I finally do have something to say, people tend to listen to me instead of rolling their eyes and saying..."oh there she goes again!" I also get annoyed with those with give their opinions and aren't educated on that which they are arguing. I know if I'm gonna shoot my mouth off on a particular topic then I better damn well know what I'm talking about.

I don't think this makes me a coward. I do get out and vote and I participate where I can to try and make a difference in the injustices of the world of which there are too many to count. I don't do it though just so everyone knows how I feel about a particular subject. The German concentration camps make me ill. The horrific things they were made to endure all because they were Jews makes me sick.

In the spirit of that statement, let me ask you this when was the last time you spoke out of gang violence, drunk drivers, drug-addicted mothers, or the homeless. What one thing in the past week did you do to help a cause that you felt strongly about besides just giving your opinion on the subject? We have MANY, MANY, MANY people in the world who are willing to give their opinion and far fewer who are wiling to put in the blood, sweat, and tears to change what they don't like.

This is not to anyone here

I feel that it is easier to speak your mind when you type than it is in person. I've seen people that talk behind others backs rather than do something constructive or speak up. (ouside the computer world)

I myself speak up if I feel it will do any bit of good. Depends on how the 'speaking out' is done also. If someone speaks out about what drug dealers are doing, the drug dealers get wind of it, and well.....your putting your life on the line. If action is taken, thats a different story. Example, things should be done slowly around the area to prevent dealers being in the area.

So, maybe I'm not the speak out type of person (online I can be, no one even cares...besides, it usually is a cause for argument for no good reason.) but I am more of the action type.

Sometimes people don't speak because they know that it will not be heard. There is a lot of assumptions made on what a person posts here. I am guilty of doing so and I know I am not alone. Most times it rolls off but sometimes the patronizing attitude displayed here is sufficient to silence many less hardy souls. If I have ever made anyone feel as if their input was not valuable I apologize. Sometimes in my struggle to grow I forget that others too struggle.

Only speak when spoken to. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. "This is an adult conversation, go play with your dolls."

Was I the only one taught these things as a child?

Am I being a coward because I don't speak up/out on the political issues threads? Or because I don't join in on the flaming wars? Does it make me a coward because when I see something that I don't like, or that irratates me, here on the BB I surf on to the next site or shut the dang thing off??

What exactly do you want from this silent majority?
