yup I second that! :rose:

May God bless everyone in the path of the raging hurricane Rita......Also may God look over all my friends (online and offline) and my family.....God bless everyone

Pray that all our friends out here are doing as good as can be.

Seems Rita - kinda slowed down before she hit land - which was a good thing.
we didn't even get any rain here - was just kinda windy and cool. But tis better to be prepared.

Take care - hope all have a good week.

BTW - any updates on Toni- haven't seen any lately??

Toni UPDATE

Well you Asked for it... and here it is. She just sent me this tonight and... they still need our prayers....

He is doing pretty well. He went back to school Thursday before last. They were taking 6 weeks test. He didn't get any grades for the 6 weeks due to him only being there for 2 days. We had the ARD meeting and they put him in Basic Math and English. His other classes are regular classes. But has access to CMC, content mastery. They have to allow him more time to complete the assignments and his test need to be multiple choice or true/false. He is still not able to come up with the word he needs. He can describe it somewhat and figure out enough info to get his point across but he cannot be specific. It is like I was telling my best friend last night it is like when you are trying to think of something and it is on the tip of your tongue but then you totally lose it! So far he has done pretty well lasting all day, but I don't know if he will be able to handle it or not. He comes home beat and really tired. He had a seizure in my aunt's neighbor yard last Monday and then he had 2 seizures Thursday after he got home. The doctor seems to think that the meds are good and doing pretty well and that they are a good level. So when he has a seizure we have to monitor it and record what happened, what it was like, how long, etc...They don't allow kids to carry backpacks to class. They can put them in their locker in the morning and then get them that afternoon. Well for about week he did not have a locker and he was losing everything out and having a very difficult time and the bus driver told him he needed to get a backpack. He didn't want one because of the rule and last year he just carried his binder. They have books to use in class and some send books home to stay (for homework). So the day we sent him with a backpack they got him a locker. Well he missed the bus one day because he could not get into his locker and this morning he missed almost all of 1st period, Choir, because he could not get it opened and he tried to get help and the principal brought him to class almost at the end. He said that he did not have a very good day all day. He forgot where his math class was. He went to the library for one class and they are doing a group project and the teacher told him to go make some copies he needed. Well, she did not assist him and he didn't realize that it was printing, he was expecting something like on our computer that shows it is printing and he made about 30 copies and so now he has to take $4.50 for the extra copies! They are $.15 each. I think that is partly the teacher's fault. She knows the problem he has. And emotionally and understanding, etc...he is the level of a 5-6 yrs old. It broke my heart when they told us that. I knew he was low, I just didn't realize how much so. I think overall he is about 5-6 grade level. He is in 8th grade. They are still doing testing on him and we may have to change some things. I talked with his choir teacher today and she said that he is fine in her class and she is glad he is there. But she even observed that it does not appear that he is getting into the flow of things. But he has only been there a week. She said that if he continues to have difficulty with the locker to talk with them and just advise them that he cannot do it and that he will HAVE to carry his backpack to class. She said that she has one kid that is on crutches permanently and he has to carry one. So they can make exceptions. He had a project that was due today and he was not quite finished with it, but the teacher told him that she was giving him longer to complete it. She said that she was in the hospital when she was in the 6th grade and she knows how hard it is. His neurologist also wants us to take him to psychologist and see if that helps him any. He is frustrated and upset because he can't do most things. Some things the doctor won't allow him to do. Others he might be ok to do, but I won't let him do it without me there. You know what I mean. I am just so afraid that something bad is going to happen and everyone is going to freak out but not give him the attention he needs. Maybe after I see how they handle things some of this will subside. It scares the kids when they see him have one. Yesterday was Fair Day and we weren't going to go because he can't ride amusement rides for at least a year, but my cousin works at the Science Place and she got us vouchers to go see one of the IMAX movies and we paid for another. We looked around the Science place. They have one section that is interactive physics, or something like that. And he got to have all of his "gotta have it" foods. Corny dogs, ice cream, cotton candy, turkey leg, etc...

I still have not heard whether or not we are going to get SSI for him. They told me to try for food stamps and see if can get medicaid. I went for an interview and took them a lot of things but have not heard from them yet either. SSI said that it could take 120 days and I went the last part of August. Everyone keeps asking me if I have gone back to work. I really can't. I am running night and day. I am worn out. Our day starts between 6-7 and I usually get to bed around midnight. People just don't understand. And Dad doesn't have a clue what to do or how to give him his meds or how much or make sure that Daniel gets it taken. I have to remind him to take his meds. Luckily, his is just at bedtime.

I got my house sold. I closed on it last Thursday. I didn't make anything off of it. After I pay my brothers back for the work that they did to it to get it ready to sell. I also got a loan from a friend at church right after Daniel got out of the hospital. I ran out of money and his prescriptions are over $200 a month. I have to get a new toilet (for the house here) and also a new stove. The oven and broiler don't work. After that I will only have about $3-5,000. But at least that is one less worry I have. I probably will have some final bills for the house also. But maybe it will give me a little to run on until I find out something. I know everyone will think that I am crazy, but even if I DO have to go back to work, I don't think I am going back to the post office. I hated it. It was so hard on me physically. I never got/get any sleep, it is 35 miles one way and with the price of gas I can't afford it! So I am going to try to find something that I can take care of dad and Daniel and have the money that I need to keep things going. I wanted to go to school, but I don't think that will happen unless they provide some training. They do for some people. They even give free computers to some. I am also going to check about getting paid for being a caregiver. A friend of my cousin mom is one of the people that you talk to about being approved for it. So I think I will talk to her about it. I will not get rich. But maybe If I get SSI for Daniel and then get that supplement also it will be enough for us to make it without having to leave home some.
