It looks like no rain for the next week, and that it warms up for this weekend.


I have a bit of electrical repair to do before putting the a/cs in and firing them up. A couple of breakers have gone bad again, it seems. I really need to replace the whole Allah damned panel box, but . . . .


They hired a new guy at work - he started last Tuesday. The owners hired him - the mysterious ones I have heard of and have never met. Rumor has it the current GM, who hired me, will be stepping down Friday, and that Bob, the new guy, will be taking over. Bob is an HVAC guy.


Best of my knowledge, I'm the only other EPA card carrier there, and he knows pretty much fuck-all about how to reframe a rotted out bathroom subfloor - this week's Task of Great Challenge.

I've done my bit on the bathroom subfloor/new tub/new door rebuild.


I wish I could stay longer and make it look like something, but that's not my call.


Off to fix a deck tomorrow. At least the weather will be fabulous.


My "USGI refinished" birch M14 stock showed up today via UPS. I must say, I'm quite disappointed with it. I'm going to strip the finish and start over.

It's a good day for tushies, too. It's 52 outside - rather chilly for this time of year. And it's forecast to be 97* on Sunday, which is also like weather around here.


I need to rig up an irrigation system for the garden this weekend, and I have to fix a circuit in the electric panel.

We had a sort of massacre last night. I laid down the law for Princess and told her that her late-night antics were coming to an end until she gets a job and stops sponging off of us.

It did not go all that well, but I stayed calm and strong and didn't let the Queen speak, because as soon as she does, she feels sorry and begins negotiating for a more lenient sentence.

Home. Survived the day . . . so far. The GM is stepping down next Friday. Simply, his business plan didn't work out, so he and the owners agreed that the time had come for him to go.


So he said.


So, when he leaves, he's the Designated Employee for the class A contractors license for the company, and he'll be gone. So he called me this afternoon to tell me this, and to tell me that, yes, he told the owners that Wat has held a class A license in the past. Since I have already taken all the tests and submitted to the torrent of bullshit, I guess they'll maybe want to keep me after all. They may even want to see if I know anything . . . like a GM might be required to know. Heh.


It doesn't matter - not an Allah-damned thing has happened yet.

Wat is on call again this weekend, filling in for the young guy who is supposed to be, but he had some family stuff to go to do, so I told him I'd do it for him. As it is, there is a window that needs to be secured. Think boarded up. Damn break-ins.


At least they agreed to wait until this morning, which is so much better than having to go out last night.

I had a strange interaction with my student last night, so I called his father and asked him if the lad was okay. Well dad (the local fire chief) said that he had just talked to him and he was okay. Well this morning I woke up and there was a text on my phone with dad saying that the kid was drunk, he's been getting drunk every weekend and thanking me for calling. I'll, of course, do everything I can to help, but when I was that age, I didn't want help, I wanted to party, but it sounds like the kid is getting drunk in solitude.

No good can come of that.
