2007 Is Finally Finished!!!!

Literotica Author Awards
December Monthly Award Winners

The only good thing I can say about these December awards is that we’ve finally cleared up 2007. Thank god! They’re simply more of the same –stories with low vote totals and/or multi chapters and/or few comments and/or suspicious last minute changes in the vote totals/ratings of the stories.

Romance Seeing Sophie by sophia jane 2 pages 10 comments 4.88 rating, 60 votes

Incest The New Year's Party Ch. 03 by jackal_man 4 pages in the final chapter of a trilogy (10 pages total), 8 comments 109 votes 4.87. First chapter 4.73, second 4.65.

Romance The Scrapbook by wetapap 7 pages in this story, the third chapter in a series (17 pages total) 23 comments, 4.86 rating and 190 votes. The interesting thing about this story is that the first chapter in the saga also won a monthly prize.

Freddie!!!!!

The following was posted yesterday by the lovely LAUREL:

Congratulations to December 2007's Category Nominees
________________________________________
On the 15th of every month (or thereabouts), we tally up the votes from stories submitted during the previous month. The story in each category with the best voting score compared to all other stories submitted that month is automatically eligible for the 2007 Literotica Author Awards voting.

At the end of the year, we will have 12 nominees in each category. The 4 stories in each category with the best voting scores at the end of the year will go on to the final voting. One will be selected in each category as the top story for 2007.

Congratulations to the authors below, whose stories were ranked top in their category for the month. These are December's eligible works.

And all of us at
ScouriesWorlds
would like to add our congratulations to the man from Boston:

WAY TO GO FREDDIE!!!!

It's nice being recognized for writing a story and better being recognized for writing a story that makes a statement, albeit with humor. I love poking fun at things that others never question.

Only, I cannot accept any credit for this, especially after this story was the catalyst that drove Daniellekitten to flee from the board (sniff, sniff).

Ah, what the Hell, she and her dozen or so identities are back in full force (farce) again anyway. So, what difference does it make?

Nonetheless, I need to give credit to my other identity, Daniellekitten. Yes, alas, I am she or she is me, whatever. We are both the same person. Trust me, I'm just as embarrassed for her behavior as everyone else is. I don't know what gets into me, I mean, her acting the way she does, I mean, I do.

Anyway, thank you, again, Daniellekitten for inspiring me to write the 250 Favorite Author story. I await the next time you do more stupid stuff, which will be any moment now, so that it will inspire another story.

God bless, Scouries. I don't know what we'd do without him (or is he a she?).

Man, if that AV is his photo, then call me a gay man.

One wonders, Mr scouries, how it was you missed an earlier triumph. The October 2007 Category Nominees included:

Reviews & Essays - Most Readers Do Not Vote or Comment / BOSTONFICTIONWRITER

Perhaps the subject matter was not to your liking.

Wow!

Thank you, Starkers, you are so kind to acknowledge my nominated story. I didn't realize you were such a fan of mine.

Moreover, I'm so flattered that you are tattooing my name, BOSTONFICTIONWRITER, across your breasts. I don't know what to say.

Take care and may a poisonous Austrailian spider never bite you in the ass.

winners everywhere...

Miss Starrkers: Yes I definitely missed Freddies nomination in October. Actually I generally never look at the nomination page – I only did today because LAUREL put the December ones upside down and I clicked it open without noticing. I have enough trouble with the eventual winners – I definitely don’t want to get involved in the shenanigans going on at the category level.

The first name I noticed when I opened it was my friend from GB land the lovely naughtycakes so I posted a congratulatory note over there. Then I noticed both Freddie and sarahhh on the list so posted their accomplishments on my other two threads.

And what about your triumph? Now checking back I find you won two!!!! Which I was delighted to see and so will likewise wish you congratulations.

Chain Stories - Enchanted Twelve: Angelina Ch. 01 / starrkers
Humor & Satire - All I Want for Xmas is a Big Dick / sarahhh
Letters & Transcripts - A Last Thought / starrkers
Reviews & Essays - The List of 250 Favorite Authors / BOSTONFICTIONWRITER
Erotic Poetry - 4:34 a.m. / naughtycakes

As to the other story by BFW that was nominated in October I must say that I’m not a big fan of bashing our readers for any reason at all (even though I share his frustration at the small percentage of people who comment and vote). I don’t remember reading the October story but I did read an earlier one called Hits vs. Voting and Public Comments and I’m pretty sure I told him then that I didn’t like it but I can’t find the post I made. But I hope you weren’t trying to stir the pot miss starrkers – you’re generally pretty fair.

And even when I disagree with Freddie, and even acknowledge that he can be extreme at times, l prefer him to your AHland colleagues. He works hard, produces a great number of good stories and lets you know how he feels. He doesn’t roll over and spend his time kissing rear or plotting mean tricks. He’s a man. Besides, he named his dog after me…

I hadn’t looked through my thread for a few days and when I did today I came across the above.

The above, part of Post #2019 made on March 15th by darkboy perhaps exemplifies best why I have absolutely no respect for him as either a man or a writer.

Below is my suggestion made for improving the monthly contest system – I believe it’s now the fourth or fifth time I’ve posted it. Darkboy has read it before. And yet, in his normal dishonest manner he chooses yet again to misrepresent my position. I’d suggest you read it again little fellow, then get mommy to copy it and paste it on the wall over your computer.

I’m always quite happy to see people argue over my definition of the problem or debate my potential solutions. But this childish crap?

I’ll soon update the figures I used in the post below to reflect the 2007 statistics.

james r scouries

so, for the fifth time,

ON CONTESTS #1

On Fixing Literotica’s Monthly Contest System

The Problem:

Did you know that, of the 72 monthly contest winners (1st , 2nd, and 3rd places) announced for 2005 and 2006, 35 were ‘Romance’ category stories and 19 were ‘Novels and Novellas’ category stories? In other words 75% of the winners came from two categories that represent only about 9% of the stories submitted. And to a large extent the winners in these categories were a chapter 2 or 3 or some other later chapter in a series and usually the winners have under 100 votes and limited reads. What the hell’s going on?

The seven categories with the most submitted stories in them (Erotic Coupling, Incest, Loving Wives, BDSM, Non-Consent, Group, and Exhibitionism), more than 67% of the stories submitted to Literotica, some 20,000 stories in 2005 and 2006, produced a pitiful total of only 3 winners (4% of winners) over the two years. Shee-it, can’t we spread the wealth around some?

Scouries Suggestion to Bring Fairness, Honesty and Good Will to the Monthly Contests

1 – Each month 4 prizes would be awarded
2 – One prize would go to the highest rated story, one to the most viewed story, one to the story with the most votes, and the final prize would go to the story which received the most comments.
3 – A category can only win once every quarter (in other words if an Incest or Romance story wins in January, no Incest or Romance stories can win in February or March)
4 – An author can only win once a year

The hoped for results of this system:
- A fairer distribution of the prizes over all the Literotica categories;
- A much broader group of writers will have a chance to win a prize;

- A recognition on our part that stories that are popular with our readers might be good choices as winners. Maybe, just maybe, resulting in more attention from our readers to contest winning stories;
- An improvement in the mental health of Literotica’s authors. Not living and dying with every vote almost certainly will reduce the level of paranoia among us;
-Happiness will reign in the kingdom

I love the idea.

Actually, what you have designed is really fair. Now, that I read it over again, it really makes sense to me. You've put much thought into this for the betterment of the site. Thank you.

I like the idea of 4 winners.

I hope it your ideas are well received by the other writers on this site as much as it is by me.

Keep up the good work. God knows no one else is stepping up to the plate and taking the resposibility to make this a better site for authors.

Thank you, Starkers, you are so kind to acknowledge my nominated story. I didn't realize you were such a fan of mine.

Not tats for me, buddy. I wouldn't sully my flesh that way.
Your name tends to stand out in a list.

It may have been a small dig - I'm an Aussie, sometimes I can't help myself ;)

You can play "For the good of the site" all you want, but your real motivation is completely transparent, scouries.

If the winner isn't you, then everything is fixed, and you'll rant and rave until everyone has a lobotomy and agrees with you.

Anything remotely relevant you say becomes kryptonite to anyone who might consider agreeing with you, because the time necessary to disavow the other 95% of the delusional idiocy you foam at the mouth about to agree with one thing isn't worth the trouble.

I neither need, desire, nor give the slightest inkling of a damn about your respect. I'd probably have to find religion and seek absolution for whatever black sin I'd committed to deserve it, if you did.

Where are those 10,000 people *snicker* *guffaw* who've voted on your best selling masterpiece, anyway?

They never seem to show up here, despite your reception in this thread.

They never find the time to nominate you for special categories, you always have to do that yourself.

They obviously don't think much of your recent work, because they sure aren't turning out to read and vote for those.

Somehow, while everyone else's average vote totals rise with the new voting element, you've seen a marked decline from your "pinnacle" of 10,000 votes *chortle* *snort*.

Two-hundred-some-odd is a pretty piss-poor percentage of 10k to add you to their favorites list. The percentage of that 10k that list it as a favorite story is even worse.

You're a laughable little grinder-monkey, scouries.

As always, for the amusement of those few poor saps that wander in here accidentally and silly sods like me who don't have you on ignore, because talking to you is like trying to reason with a stump. I have no intention of trying to change your mind, because trying to change something that doesn't exist would probably rip a hole in the space-time continuum.

Buh Bye now, oh Sock Puppet King of the land of make-believe.

Possibly the fairest and most sensible thing to do with the monthly contests is just to toss them out of the window. Their greatest result is divisiveness and bad voting behavior. If writers won't post stories for the lack of contests, their stories probably aren't such that would be missed all that much.

Thanks, Darkniciad. Being new, I thought that this guy was a site owner or something. So, what you're saying is that he's merely delusional? That makes more sense.

He's just another scribbler like the rest of us.
HIs main claim to fame is writing mediocre incest stories and inflating his ego around anyone who will listen.

ETA: Sadly, the man does actually have a few valid points about faults and possible improvements to the site now and then, but they tend to get lost in the fanfare and own-trumpet blowing that is his forte.

Honestly, I agree... or at least take out the cash prize money in favor of just the W and maybe a credit for say 5 stories to move to the front of the queue when you submit them *laugh*

But we're meandering off into rational conversation again. [/threadjack]

But he scribbles in color and large font and florid, breathy language. Don't you get extra points for that? At least that's what Trysails told me. :)

That's pretty sad. Reminds of numerous politicians with delusions of grandeur. Some have a real idea of making our world a better place, but have lost credibility due to their own egos. If you can’t play nice, no one wants to be on your team.

Keep up the good work, Scouries

So be it, that is your opinion whether or not Scouries writes this thread for his personal purpose or he is a whinner. Whatever.

You all miss the point of this thread. Allow me to elaborate.

This thread is the closest thing to a public service thread that we have on this site. Not only is Scouries an author, he's one of the best writers on this site.

Me? I'm a hack. I'm just having fun writing.

Now, I earn my money as a Corporate Controller, an accountant (you should see me on a blackjack table) and Scouries way with numbers and statistics is nothing short of amazing.

Who else would take up the baton and give such a breakdown of numbers. All of you who have bashed this thread and this person know not what you do.

Stay the course, Scouries. I appreciate the inner workings of what goes on behind the scenes, even if I never win a contest. What you write here is a more interesting read then what some of these self-proclaimed authors offer up as a story.

By the way, now that I think of it, Scouries has more than a point. I haven't checked his sheet, but I assume he or she hasn't won a contest. Why is that? Here we go with popularity instead of talent, which is why Scouries new system removes some of the popularity from the equation of winning.

Keep up the good work. Just because I'm one of the few not afraid to stick out my neck and tell you that I appreciate all your hard work, doesn't mean that there are others who don't appreciate what you write. You just have to look at the hits of this thread to realize that.

Go away

By the way, to the person or persons who are intent on removing all my red H's again (for the seventh time) you missed 12 of them.

You need to get a life. Why are my red H's or lack of red H's so important to you?

Listen, I know you lost your girlfriend 20 years ago, but you can get another one. Just zip up your pants, stick your cock back inside, and stop leering at women as you jerk off when they walk by you. I know it's a stretch for you, but you'll have a better chance of attracting a woman if you act normal.

And I know it is doubly hard on your when your mother stopped giving you sex but, really, c'mon, you're a grown man now and your mother is what, in her 80's?

It's time to move forward with your life. That's right, remove your fingers from the keyboard, shut down my page, and stop erasing my red H's. Me and my red H's have nothing to do with the loser that you are.

You did that to yourself 30 years ago when you started having sex with farm animals.

Go outside, walk to the sun, embrace life, but go away.

Last night I decided to read a sampling of both your work. It seems unfair to judge someone without knowing what I'm talking about, and I want to be fair.

Your work, BFW, is mildly amusing, if somewhat self-serving. I'm not sure it's award-winning material, though. I have read better work here, but you have potential.

Scouries' work is another matter. I couldn't finish even one of his stories. I'm curious as to why you would call him the best writer on the site. His work is trite and juvenile at best. At worst it’s nearly impossible to read. His dialogue is silly, his prose is common and his scenes are ridiculous. I’ve seen better work from grade-school kids.

The best I can figure out is that, since he’s not able to write at the level of many of the good writers on this site, he has to tear them down in hopes of making himself look better. He uses this thread as the avenue to reach the masses and only manages to make himself look like exactly what he is, a wanna-be.

You, sir, are a better writer than he is. It’s unfortunate that you’ve created such a pall of hate and animosity around yourself by the attacks you’ve made on others here. As I have witnessed in some of your many other posts, you only wish to hurt others and seek to drive them out. Writing ability aside, I have to wonder if you and this Scouries aren’t the same person. You both certainly seem to have the same agenda.

It's about the story...stupid.

No, I can't be Scouries, too. I'm already Daniellekitten or she is me, I forget which one of us is which.

Why do I think Scouries is one of the best writers on this board? Well, because I've read a few of his stories and was blown away. I've read stories of other writers, writers who have a page full of red H's and who have won contests...they suck.

This is what I think, the better writers, unfortunately, those with the lower scores and who don't parade around this site with an entourage of 'AH friends' don't win anything but bashing comments.

Now, do you think I care what you or anyone else thinks of my writing? Newsflash, I don't. Besides, consider the source. This, in case you didn't know, is a porn site. This is not a literary board. There are some very strange folks who frequent this site (an understatement).

I would write what I write even if there were no audience. I have to write. If you don't like what I write, don't read it. I'm having the time of my life writing. Writing is my passion and is what I love to do.

Isn't this what this board is all about...stories?

You must realize that if it wasn't for the stories and writers like me and Scouries, we wouldn't have a site. Do you think a site would exist if there were only the AH forums to read? Have you read some of the posts lately? C'mon. Boring!

Give me a story any day. And good stories around here are few and far between. Now, I try to write the best story that I can write. Even though I have written more than 350 stories in 14 months, I take time writing what I write.

This site would be a better site if people would write stories instead of bashing other writers and instead of spending 24/7 posting shit on the forum boards about writers who are here to write stories. What is wrong with you people?

Hey, I'm not a shrink, but too many people here have too many serious mental problems. I'm only here posting stories because, there aren't too many places like this and I appreciate the shit out of this site.

I've never written a sex story since I found this site. Sex is not my thing. Most of my stuff is written with tongue firmly planted in cheek. Yeah, I've been around, but to me sex is a personal thing between me, my wife, my mistress, and the group that I party with at the swingers club (lol).

You must reflect upon why you are here. If you are not hear to write and/or read a story, then don't bother the rest of us who are.

This site would be a better site if people would write stories instead of bashing other writers and instead of spending 24/7 posting shit on the forum boards about writers who are here to write stories. What is wrong with you people?

This is a very good question, and I am considering the source. As I said before, I've read a few of your previous posts. It seems the worst of the bashers here might look you in the mirror every morning. One wonders where so much anger comes from.

I will not justify my reasons for being here; that will be revealed in time, but I will say that I find the discourse of this particular thread most amusing. I knew it would only be a matter of time before you went on the offensive, attacking me or any other person who would dare to be critical.

As I’ve said, sir, you have potential. But you, being Daniellekitten? I think not. I would say that you’re both very prolific writers, but the styles are vastly different. I can easily see why she’s so popular, this being an erotic writers’ site and all. I wonder, though, what the reason for your animosity toward her is, or hers toward you. Forgive my ignorance. I only found this site a month or so ago. It would seem the two of you have an on-going feud that I’m probably better off not knowing about.

There are many stories on this site that are not deserving of those red H’s that you mentioned. There are others, though, that are incredible. There are few stories that I’ve read without those H’s that deserve them, and even fewer of those that have those little markers that don’t deserve them.

Popularity is something with which I’m sure you have little experience, but it will most definitely have something to do with the ratings some writers have. All of life is a popularity contest, dear man. He who knows the game will be the winner. To win without playing takes true talent, talent which you may or may not possess. It’s almost an absolute that Scouries does not possess such talent.

Thank you for the conversation and do have a wonderful day.
