OK, this is probably a stupid question, but someone has to ask them. How does a story get the red H status? Is it by readers voting or does someone at Lit decide? Or what? I have just submitted my first story and I just know everyone will want to read it (Ha!).

The story has ten or more votes and a rating of 4.5 or higher.
IF you reach 10 votes with a perfect rating of 5.0, that won't last more than a couple of hours because a troll will vote it down. Take a copy of the screen before the trolls attack.

Now that is depressing. Not the part about the votes, that is as it should be. I guess I am a little naive to think that peole are better in fantasy land than they are in real life.

. So I will bite - how does one get an "E" or a "W" - just out of curiosity....
and if anyone else can tell me, how do some stories get hundreds and even thousands of votes? Do people advertise or something?

The E is editors choice and the w is for a contest or monthly or yearly win.
As for the thousands of votes, you got me. Hundreds take time, thousands usually need a lot of time or some mechanical help.

Hmmm, well darlin' I have to be honest, I am no stranger to mechanical help
, but if that made for thousands of votes, well,.....Seriously though, thanks for the enlightenment. It would be nice if there were a way to search stories based on "show me the E stories" since that sounds like a good indicator.
