Have a quiet evening on your hands and don't know what DVD to rent from your local Blockbusters?

THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!

Here, you can review DVDs or one find one to watch. And if you don't like the movie, you'll know which Litster to flame. :D
Each recommended DVD should be given a :nana: rating. Tops is 5 :nana; Crap is 1 :nana:.

Enjoy.

Here are my recent views:

1) Ice Age - very funny movie; for kids and adults alike; short (only 80 minutes). Rating: :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana:

2) Sum of All Fears - If you're a Clancy fan, this is not the movie for you. It's a HUGE departure from the book. Rating: :nana:

videodrome~with debbie harry and james woods

littl voice and

blood diner.

I'm not sure if you can rent this one since it's a limited edition, but Disney just put out a 2 DVD set entitled "Mickey Mouse in Black and White" which is a compilation of a lot of the old 1928-1934 Mickey shorts. The nice thing about it is that it has a complete, uncut version of "Steamboat Willie" which hasn't been seen completely uncut in over 50 years.

1) Victor Victoria: 4 :nana:
Julie Andrews, Robert Preston, Dir: Blake Edwards

Classic gender-bender film set in '30s Paris. Great soundtrack, wonderful Blake Edwards comedy (he of 'Pink Panther' fame) and the best appearance by a waiter in any film, ever.

2) Amelie: 4 :nana:
Audrey Tautou, Mathieu Kassovitz, Dir: Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Beautifully shot French language film which follows the everyday life of Amelie, a girl with a heart. A wonderful story of how she helps others dreams and eventually finds her own.

3) The Thomas Crown Affair: 3 :nana:
Pierce Brosnan, Rene Russo, Dir: John Mc Tiernan

An updating of the classic Steve McQueen film in which a bored millianaire businessman plans and executes a daring robbery. This time around Pierce Brosnan is the antagonist stealing a painting and Rene Russo is the insurance investigator playing cat and mouse with him.
