The Ranch... Open..

George will bring him to the kitchen for lunch soon and we can meet him then. For now lets get some food, and please call me Katherin or Kat.... She said as they made their way back to the house. Dismounting she helped Josh brush them down and lead them to the stall's, before heading inside.

Stepping in the house Kat could see Carolyn had her hands full and decided to offer her and penny an extra set of hands. After noon all. Here Carolyn... I'll give you and Penny a hand. She said with a smile. Seeing George, Sam, Josh and a few new people she hadnt met yet, but new she would soon.

Penny smiled widely at Kat, as she came over to help.

"Kat, I'd like to stay on. Help Carolyn out, or help around any way I can. I don't need money, just room and board. Well, I guess we can talk more about it later, but I want to help the ranch out ... for my own reasons."

George

The smile Sam gave him when he spoke to Kasey sent shivers through his body, he wanted to give her a hug but now wasn't the time.

Fortunately he was distracted as Mr. O'Connor came up to them.

To, Samantha (and George since he is right there he'd here it), Michael said, "I know you folks are just getting the ranch going again and money might be tight. If it is, I can take a look at your animals on my own time for a while, no charge, except for materials and such. I'm just glad the place is back. Your call, either way."

He dropped his card, with office and cell phone numbers, on the table.

He waved and headed out

George picked up the card and looked at it.

"Do you want to keep this or should I?" he asked Sam. She seemed a bit distracted so he asked. "if you and Kasey want to talk business, should I leave you together?" he asked.

Maggie's eyes light up as she sees Sam sitting there. Drooping her things to the floor she moves to embrace her, "told ya I'd make it out here sooner or later sis!" She is smiling from ear to ear.

Carolyn introduced herself to the new people who arrived and with Penny's help made sure everyone had lunch before cleaning up. She laughed as it seemed like a small town diner, people coming and going, catching parts of conversations, laughing and talking with some.

She had her apron on which by now showed signs of breakfast and lunch. Penny had said she'd love to go exploring after lunch with Carolyn. She was about to go change from her dress to some jeans and a tee-shirt when she noticed a newcomer enter the kitchen. He had a large duffle bag over his shoulder and she noticed how he easily he moved the heavy bad from his shoulder.

"Hi. I'm Carolyn, can I help you out?" She reached out her hand to greet him.

Hello Sam it is great to see you again and it is good you meet you to George.I will try not to keep you long Sam
I just have something to give you.Then I will be on my way to enjoy my vacation.Even though I notice you have horses and I have always
wanted to learn how to ride maybe I could stop back by in a one or two if you had free time so i could take so.This seems like a great place I can see why you need to come home and get away after all you have been through.After talking with Sam and George for awhile I reach into my bag and take out an enevlope and hand it to Sam as i tell her I wish her the best of luck and how great she looks.I also ask Sam to thank the nice man for letting me wait for her to return so that I could see her.I then ask Sam if she knows of a motal close by that i could go to to get some rest.By the way one more thing before I go I just want to say this is a great place you all have in and I really enjoyed look around and seeing the horse and all hope I can stop back by real soon.

"Hello Carolyn I'm Logan, I was hoping to find a cup of a coffee and someone who could show me a room where I could stay here?" I took Carolyn's hand in mine and smiled at her as I looked deep into her eyes. She looked like she had her hands full cooking and running the kitchen for this crew.

Kat smiled at penny glad that she was enjoying herself and wanted to stay on and help out. Your welcome ta stay hun as long as ya like. Kat said while Sam, and George talked with Sam's insurance lady. Kat froze a moment hearing a voice she hadnt heard in a long time. Meg? Is that you? Turning with a smile she saw Sam and Meg hugging and grinning from ear to ear walked over and gave her a hug as soon as Sam let her go. Where have you been girl.. its been ages.

Looking over her head she also noticed another stranger come stolling in. A man with dark brown hair and green eyes. He was a hansome fellow musculer of build and looked to be around 5'9. He also seemed to have some sort of millitary training from the way he carried himself.

Looking around the room she smiled releasing Meg from her hug she noticed the man in the duster who also was not bad looking, and had a millitary baring around him. He had broad sholders and stood around 6ft 2 or 3 she would guess.

He had come in with George and Sam, as well and Kat smiled at them as well as Josh when he came into the kitchen after washing up, and watched as Carolyn introduced her self to all the new comer's. Kats heart filling with happiness as she listened to all the voices around her enjoying the once empty and lonly sounding house now filled with voice as it should be.

Shaking herself from her thoughts to the room in genral she said. To all of our new guests My name is Katherin Renolds and welcome to the Renolds Ranch.. I belive Carolyn, and Penny have prepared us a wonderful lunch. Lets all sit down at the dinning room table and eat shall we.

OOC:AAAARRRGG!!! COMPUTER CRASH!!! But I have a new computer now so everything is better. So now to resurface after about... 10 pages?

IC: Breanne had spent the night before with her horse in the barn and bedded down in the bunk house. It was nice to be alone for a little while to sort out her thoughts. She couldn't believe it. She was out from under her fathers thumb and actually had a job. She knew she was on her own now, but it felt great!

She worked by herself most of the day in the foaling barn, looking over the new foals and getting them used to being handled. Katherine barely had enough time to keep the ranch afloat as ot was, without spending time with the new arrivals. They were a little skittish at first because they hadn't seen much of humnas in their short lives, but by noon time they were happy with Bre's attention.

Suddenly a loud noise startled the young filly she was grooming. It was her stomach. She hadn't eaten anything all day and forgot all about dinner the night before. After calming the young filly she headed for the main house and found everyone sitting down to a table full of food. She sat at a seat near the end of the long table, smiling in greeting to everyone.

Maggie's eyes light up as she sees Sam sitting there. Drooping her things to the floor she moves to embrace her, "told ya I'd make it out here sooner or later sis!" She is smiling from ear to ear.

George didn't know what to say or do, when the newcomer called Sam sis. He was getting a bit confused, Katherin called Sam her sister, but the newcomer didn't call Katerin sister.

There was a lot he needed to find out from Sam, but it looked like they weren't going to get any time alone to talk with so much going on. When Kasey said she was leaving but wanted to learn to ride he was expecting Sam to suggest that Kasey stayed.

He was glad that Riger was going to clear out the bunk house, and as another guy had arrived who he thought had introduced himself to Carolyn as Logan, he could help Roger.

They needed the bunk house cleared, there was now a total of thirteen heads in the room, that was two more people than rooms. All the guys would have to move to the bunk house to make room.

Hearing Katerin call everybody to sit and eat.

"Shall we get some food," he asked Sam, Kasey and Maggs, moving to the table and pulling out a chair for Sam then sitting next to her.

Giving Meg a hug, "hey sissy its so good to see you, when did you get in? I thought for sure that school was going to keep you forever." Watching Kat give Meg a hug I knew that our family had just grown even more.

During that time I turn to Kasey, "oh no hun you can just stay here. We'll have the room here soon we are going to get the bunk house up and going so we will have plenty of room for guests in the house and if your on vacation then where better to spend your time on a ranch learning how to ride. Besides thats what we are trying to do here, so welcome to the Renolds Dude Ranch." Giving her a bright smile.

Turning back to George again making introductions, "George this is Meg she is my sister by blood. Not marriage like Kat is, but Meg has been at school for several years.. Basically forever it seems. Meg this is George he is our foreman here now." Giving Meg a wink and smile before continuing. "Meg is learning to be a vet so she can help out with the animals around here."

"Meg.. Kat, this is Kasey Kershaw she has been helping me with Tom's policy and it looks like the worries for the ranch is almost over with since she has brought me some good news from the sounds of it." Reaching out to take the envelope that Kasey is offering to me. Without looking at it I place it in my back pocket. "I'll open it in just a moment, is it what I think it is?"

I could see everyone heading for the dinning room, today was going to be interesting. I kept adding up the things that needed doing before heading out with George. We had to get the bunk house set up and fast since we had Roger and now Meg and Kasey with us. Counting rooms up in my head I knew we could actually pull it all off. It was just going to take some time and a lot of help, and with George by my side I knew we could make it all work out right before leaving.

Hooking my arm through George's I pull him along noticing the vet's card in his hand still. "Keep a hold of that for me for now, we'll get one of those books to put buisness cards in and put it in the office. Sound good to you?" Grabbing Meg's hand and winking at Kasey I pull them all with me into the dinning room. Whispering softly to George, "your fine you don't need to leave so we can talk. Besides I appreciate having you here with me." Smiling softly to him as we reach the dinning room.

Now I understood Tom was Katherin's brother, that's why Katherin made Sam a partner so she'd have some say in the running of the ranch.

Sam hooking her arm through mine was a bit of a surprise, a nice one but a surprise none the less. I wondered if we'd be able to get everything done in time for us to leave later to check the fences. But the working of the ranch had to come first and if need be we'd have to wait until the following day.

From the way everybody attacked the meal Carolyn and Penny had prepared it looked as if they hadn't eaten for a few days.

Sitting next to Sam at the table I moved so we were just touching as we ate, not really careing if anybody noticed. The only ones who'd comment were Katherin and Meg. I knew Katherin wouldn't comment she'd seen us reacting to each other virtually since we met. I just hoped that Meg would accept me as well.

Turning towards Josh who was a couple ofseats from him.

"Josh, How are you getting on with the branding?" George asked him knowing they'd been working hard all morning.

"If you don't finish them today, maybe Roger could give you a hand tomorrow, he clearing the bunk house this afternoon," he added so everybody could hear.

When George scooted his chair closer I couldn't help but smile. I had asked him to stay and he had, he had even went so far as to place himself closer to me. Which pleased me greatly, the soft brushing of his arm against mine didn't bother me. In fact it had another effect on me and I found myself blushing rather a lot during the course of lunch.

Reaching out to grab a piece of fruit, grinning at George as he reachs for the same fruit. Our hands touching just briefly but being enough to send shivers through me. Laughing lightly taking the piece of fruit I cut it in half offering one to him as I take the other.

"I don't mind sharing with you George," giving him another smile before turning to look at Meg and Kasey. "Kasey we need to get you settled in if you deside to stay. George and I are to ride the fences and we are suppose to leave today but I believe with all of everyone here we should be able to get things taken care of before we leave. Meg hun you should remember your way around the ranch, you might check our local vet though and see if he can take on another assistant. Um the vets name is Dr. Cortland and his assistants name is O'Connor I believe." Turning to George to see if I got the vets name correct or not.

I wanted to scoot closer to George, his presence just made me feel so much better. Even though I had told him thank you the previous night I hadn't told him why. This was why, he had made me feel like I was home again and even though he was new here. He had a way about him that made being home better. Seeing that he had turned away from me I look around the table noticing another new face. Giving him a smile as my eyes continue to scan landing on Penny.

"Hey Penny you and Carolyn did it again from the looks of it. The food is great thank you, your a wonderful cook you and Carolyn both work miracles."

Anna was pleased at how the ranch was now bustling with people. It gave her great fodder for thought, all of the different personalities to contemplate--even if it didn't alleviate her writer's block.

There was a pretty blonde girl and another one with darker blonde hair. Both seemed nice. One was there to help Catherine and Sam with some financial issues.

A younger man had also arrived. He was rugged and well built and seemed friendly.

Anna hoped that she would get to see more of Michael O'Connor. She was secretly very pleased that he'd be helping with the Renolds' animals. She'd have to find some way to see him again. "He's interesting," she told herself. But she knew it was more than that.

"Carolyn and Penny, lunch was amazing. I'm on dish patrol," Anna offered, smiling.

"Carolyn," she said softly, scooting by her with a handful of dishes, "could I make a small care package with some of the leftovers?"

Hearing Josh reply to his question George nodded.

"That's good, That's one problem that will be out of the way," he said.

He then addressed the whole company raising his voice so that he would be heard.

"Roger, is clearing the bunk house this afternoon. We are quickly running out of rooms in the house. So the guys should all move to the bunk house as soon as Roger has finished. Oh Logan you could help Roger, that will get it cleaned quicker and give you a place to sleep," George told the room.

Listening to George's words again I felt some dissappointment, he was going to leave the house. But then again George was right there were truly to many here in the house now. The only thing I could see wrong with the ranch hands moving out to the bunk house was the fact that Breanna was one of the ranch hands now, and with her being a girl she needed room away from the guys.

"Thats a good idea George but we will need to see about setting up somewhere for Breanna. It would not be proper for her to be out there with all you men, maybe we could set the office up as her own private domain?"

Looking to Kat and then George with my suggestion on the floor for everyone to hear.

"No Sam," George replied. "I said all the guys, Breanna doesn't look like a guy to me. So she'll sleep in the house with the rest of you ladies," Smiling at Sam and her misunderstanding.

"With a bit of luck we won't be here tonight, and things might change by the time we get back," I whispered in Sam's ear so nobody else could hear me.

"Oh ok your right I am sorry, she should be in the house it would be much better that way. I wasn't thinking as I should have been." Of course I wasn't George was so close my mind was addled and I wondered if he knew this or not, I even thought about telling him but figured he would just laugh at me.

That was until I caught his whispered comment to me which both excited me as well as confused me. Was he meaning that someone would leave? Or that something else would happen?

I'm back in town. Anyone who wants to get ahold of my guy Michael O'Connor can "phone" him, go to the vet office during the day (I'll have him be there when needed), go to his apartment above the vet office or to his brother Jay's at night (he splits his time between the two).

For the time being I'd be in "reactive" mode and respond attempts to get ahold of my guy rather than "active". I hope to have some more active time soon.

Carolyn watched him move, there was a sense of security about his movements. His presence couldn't be denied, if he was in any room his strength would be evident. "About a place to stay, I'd suggest talking with Kat or George. They're the folks that could help best. But please make yourself at home and enjoy some lunch with everyone, they'll be coming in soon."

Penny and Carolyn kept everyone fed and happy. Listening to sounds in the room was homey. It reminded Carolyn of her childhood, lots of people, lots of fun and tons of noise.

Carolyn and Penny, lunch was amazing. I'm on dish patrol," Anna offered, smiling.

"Carolyn," she said softly, scooting by her with a handful of dishes, "could I make a small care package with some of the leftovers?"

"Hey, I'll never turn help away Anna. Thanks." There were lots of helping hands. It seemed overnight the ranch came to life and everyone was working well together. "Of course you can make a care package Anna." Carolyn sensed it was for a special person but didn't want to pry. "Anna, there are some cookies in the dry pantry, put some of them in too." The ladies smiled at each other.

Carolyn just smiled a lot period. The ranch was really becoming home.
