Kat had nodded listening to what she had said and smiled as she, took Carolyn’s list with her into the office to go over it while they did the book’s, and thought that a To Do list wouldn’t be such a bad idea either, and was grateful to Carolyn for the idea.

Kat walked back out to the kitchen coffee sounding really good. Looking around she didn’t see Carolyn, and she felt bad about not showing her how to use the coffee pot and decided she would definitely do so in the morning.

Picking up a pen and paper after going over the list She left a note for Carolyn. What you have on your list sounds fine Hun, I will allow you to set up the accounts at the grocery store to your specifications the kitchen is yours Hun.. the only thing I ask is that we make sure to budget on the meals until we get things up and going again, otherwise have at, and enjoy. I know you will do a fine job Hun, welcome to the family.
K.

Looking at George and Sam she set the note aside on the kitchen counter so Carolyn would find it, and started making a pot of coffee. I’ll meet ya in there in a sec just goanna make some coffee I forgot to show Carolyn cas I was thinking more about the books… She said smiling as Sam showed George the way to the office.

Pouring a cup and adding some sugar she stirred it and headed back to the office. Stepping in side she said What do you all think about setting up a to do list of things we need to get done around the Ranch? As we go over the Books?

George

George followed Sam to the office and sat down in one of the chairs in front of the desk, while Sam took the other. They waited a few minutes for Katherin to arrive.

"Sounds like a good idea to me, let me think for a while, I'm sure there are lots of things that need attending to. Oh! One thing we must do in the near future is ride around the boundary and check all the fencing is secure. We don't want the livestock going onto the O'Connor range if we can help it, somebody who knows the boundary will have to come with me." George suggested looking at Sam. He knew he was doing it again but he just couldn't help himself.

after enjoying the cool Montana evening Josh decides to head to bed tomorrow is gonna be a busy day. *He wanders back inside the house and finds an empty bedroom and strips down to his briefs and climbs into bed* and is asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow. He dozes with visions of Kats shapely butt in his head , he awakens shaking his head he thinks 'you have to quit that shes outta your league 'then he turns over and tries to sleep

"Oh, very nice, Tim. Very nice. I agree with you too about that modern art stuff. I like these. Do you have your paints with you?"

Tim continued to smile, not only at Penny, but at her words. It was strange to be sitting outside, flipping through his sketch book with a total stranger. Well, nearly a stranger...

"Yeah, I got 'em with me. Got some brushes too. Heh! Always help having brushes!"

Penny giggles softly.

"Oh, of course brushes. Good. I will want to see what lovely paintings you can make out here ... where it's quiet, so colorful, so ... peaceful."

Darkness came quickly, and with it a fresh set of wonders. Stars. Billions of stars seemed visible in the night sky, and Penny was once more awestruck. In the City you never saw stars, well not many at least, and for some reason she hadn't really noticed them on her trip. She had been to concerned with finding a safe place to park, and getting comfy in her vehicle, to notice them.

Now it was impossible not to see them.

Tim chuckles at Penny's comment and was about to make one of his own when he noticed she had fallen silent, and was looking up into the night sky. Looking up himself, he smiles. "Ever wonder just how many there are out there?"

"I remember once, oh so long ago, when my daddy had taken me on a trip out to Upstate New York, lying on my back and counting the stars. I got up to a hundred something before I lost count."

She giggles, remembering that night.

"I counted a firefly, and my friend laughed and said that wasn't a star, and we both laughed, and I forgot how many I was up to."

She then sighs, and gives Tim a quick hug.

"Great way to end a day. But, breakfast comes early, so I probably better turn in. I need to talk to Carolyn before I do to find out when she wants me up to help her."

"I counted a firefly, and my friend laughed and said that wasn't a star, and we both laughed, and I forgot how many I was up to."

Tim chuckled at the statement. He had done something similar once, only it was closer to stargazing, and loosing track of just where he had counted

He was shaken back to realitly by the quite pleasant suprise of Penny giving him a quick hug. He smiled and, hesitating only a second, returns the hug

"Great way to end a day. But, breakfast comes early, so I probably better turn in. I need to talk to Carolyn before I do to find out when she wants me up to help her."

"Yeah, I always like being outside at nightfall. And, uhh, I better find out if I got someplace to stay here tonight."

Tim packed up his sketchbook and walked with Penny back into the ranch building propper

"Katherine? Have you seen Carolyn?"

Penny looked at her, Sam, and George.

"I wanted to be up in time tomorrow to help her make breakfast, but I don't know where she is."

She glanced back at Tim, and smiled sweetly his direction, before returning her gaze to the other three....

Kat smiled sitting down at the desk facing Samantha and George thinking that the two of them made a nice pair as she listened to George's suggestion. Your right on that George we do need to check all of the fences on the property. Taking out a peace of paper after sitting her Coffie one the desk she grabbed a pen out of the drawer in front of her and wrote in a neat clear hand.

To Do List at the top of the page, Bank Payment, and Check Boundry below that that. Ok well first things first.. you should know where i am standing finacialy.

Kat said looking at the books and ledgers she had told Gorge he could look at. Before my parents death they took out a loan on the bank to try and get things back on track themselves as they couldnt keep up on their own, and didnt ask Tom or I to come home and help.

They borrowed 50,000 dollars on a lean against the Ranch, after they died the bank decided they had to have the money back or they were taking the Ranch.

Between the fuanral, Bills and trying to run this place i've mannaged to pay off 20,000 of that, and Get an extention but i am still looking at 30,000 left to pay, and that's not including what all else needs to be done. That is also in the beginning why i only offerd Room and board
Kat said rubbing her eyes and looked over at George and Samantha.

"Sorry Penny she turned in about half an hour ago, I'm sure she wont be up before around seven in the morning," George told Penny.

"If I were you I'd turn in and worry about it in the morning, I'm sure Carolyn wont mind if you're a little bit late. I think most of the house will be up early." he added.

She smiled, a little shyly, to George.

"Ok. Thanks."

She turned away from them, and smiled again at Tim.

"I ... guess we just find rooms."

She shrugged....

"So how much time have we got before they decide to foreclose on the loan," George asked. Knowing that he could cover the loan easily and still have money to spare. He'd received double that as his severence pay from the new owner of the ranch he'd left to come here.

Tim absently scratched his head. "Uhh, yeah. I guess" He then gave his rough beard a stroke and put on a silly grin and a stupid bond-esque villain accent. "Now, to locate ze roomz, ja?" He chuckled at himself and shook his head. "Sorry, couldn't resist that one"

Kat smiled at Penny and Tim as they came looking for Carolyn, and looked back at George when he was done awncering Penny's question. When they had left she continued her converstaion with George, and Sam As long as i continue to make payments on time they wont forclose, but i've used 90% of what i have to make the payments, and i am thinking of selling off the cattle to some of the meat companys near buy. As we need the horses more than the cattle anyway.

Kat said noticing that Sam had remained quiet thru the conversation. The look on her face said she was thinking about something and Kat was curious to know what that was, but would have to wait and see what Sam would say.

She grinned, but was kinda baffled at what his accent was supposed to be. Oh well, she figured.

"I think they're back here. Cozy. Umm.. not really .. modern, are they?"

She was used to TV, DVD, radio, computer, etc. etc. in her room. Back home, her "room" was a condo that daddy was paying for, so this was tiny in comparison. But cozy sounded more positive, and besides Penny was starting to get used to the rhythms of this more natural, older-fashioned life style ....

George

George thought about this for a few moments. He could see that Katerin was looking at Sam, he couldn't understand what was going on between the two girls.

"OK! What's the most pressing thing we have to worry about other than the bank?" he asked.

"Is there anything else we need to see to imediately, I know we need to check the fences, what about branding is that up to date?" he asked

Tim opened the door to an unoccupied room and looked inside. "Well, Uhh, I'll say one thing. It's an awful lot cleaner than my last room.."

He stepped inside and placed his bad at the foot of the wooden single bed. Looking around, the room did seem a little small, but then there must be lots of them in the ranch for all the hands. Of course, he mused, there did seem enough room to squeeze another bed in the room...

He shook his head at the thaught.

Turning around, Tim smiled at Penny "Well, uhhh, I guess I'll see ya in the morning?"

"Okay, see you then! Sleep tight."

She grinned, and went into the room next to his, that she had selected. She pulled the covers back, stretched, and laid down on the bed, relaxing.

Tim closed the door to his room and walked over to his bed. Laying down on it, tiredness overwhelmed him, and so, curling up, he quickly fell asleep

Sam

Sitting there I listened to Kat and George go over things in the books. I was hoping that what I could add would help bring the ranch up to date. “Ok for your to do list, add these things please. We need to see about hiring someone to herd cattle in and get them all branded, they also need to round up the wild mustangs and such out in the high pastures. We need to find out which horses would be good for breeding, riding and then later even racing. Maybe pick out a few that we could start working on training for shows, that I think will come in time.”

Stopping to let my mind catch up with me and my thoughts. “George is right we need to run the fences and see if any need repairing so we can get a team out there to get them fixed. I volunteer to go with George to do that tomorrow bright and early, since I know the ranch and George will know what needs doing we would be the best to go out and do.”

“As for the bank there was one thing that I did not tell you outside and that is the fact that Tom did do one thing right before the accident. He left a insurance policy in case of his death and it just so happens that even after I paid off his debts and the funeral expenses. I have enough left over to help with the bank and a small start at getting things set up the way they need to be. And before you start to argue with me Kat, I have had enough time to think about all of this and it is my choice. This ranch is the only place I have looked at as being my home for so long that it is killing me to know that it is in danger. Mainly because Tom couldn’t get off his ass when he was alive to help you and now that he is dead I am going to make sure that he helps.”

Giving Kat a small smile when I see that my words have made some small bit of sense to her, then seeing her begin to shake her head in denial. “Kat listen to me ok, I don’t want a share of the ranch I just want to be able to call it home. That’s all nothing more, well that and to be able to help out. I think we could make this work and if I could be a part of it then I am more then welling to put in my share to make it happen.”

“George would you please tell her we can make this work with all of us here. We can make this ranch better then it has ever been but she needs to accept my offer of help and stop letting her stupid pride get in the way... Please Kat I just want to help and I know money isn’t everything but you have to admit if we were to walk in tomorrow and hand them the money owed to them it would help out a lot and if I am here then I see no reason to ever really honestly needing money. Except maybe to help build more on to the house or to update some things here. Otherwise there really isn’t anything I need except to be here at home with my family.”

With my last words there was another thought that came to me but I shoved it away quickly. George ....here was a man that in a very short amount of time had gained my respect. I just couldn’t tell if he was interested in me or if he was just being friendly and I was reading to much into things. Time would tell and her on the ranch that was all I basically had was time.

Kat raised her hands in a jester or surrender and said. its ok Sam relax I agree I’ll accept your help I would be foolish not to... If you can help take care of the bank then what’s left we can use to hire more help and pay them something besides room and board. She said a small grin on her face to let Sam know that it was truly alright and that she agreed with what she had said.

Picking up the Pen once again she wrote Breeding, Branding and Hiring more help beneath Banking and Going over the Grounds.

Looking back at both her and George she said Ok next up?? We need to discuss a night rotation schedule so that the cattle and horses are safe at night, and as for you two riding the property and checking the fences that is fine with me but you might leave in the after noon or the next day so that you have time to discuss the ridding lessons with Anna, and Penny if she decides she wants them.

Carolyn slept great, she woke with a stretch and a smile. She was looking forward to the day, it would be a busy day and she loved it. She showered and put on a sundress with a sweater then headed for the kitchen.

The coffee pot looked like it was daring her to try so she did. She found the note Kat left her and added it to the other notes on the desk in the corner. The radio, she turned that on too and got busy making breakfast.

She found some sticky rolls in the freezer the night before and put them in the oven to warm. She had the kettle hot for tea and she smiled when she heard what sounded like percolating from the coffee pot, if it could be called a pot. She took out a few loaves of bread, for toast if anyone wanted and for French Toast. The eggs were on the counter and when she found a grill pan large enough for the stove she put it on and warmed it up.

She heard some noises and figured there'd be a few people making their way into the kitchen. She could deal with breakfast as if she was a short order cook... as long as no one wanted anything too fancy. The mix for the French Toast was all set, waiting for bread to soak.

Carolyn was satisfied with things so far, the smells of coffee and warm cinnamon from the oven was nice. She felt the happiest she'd been in a long time. Going into town for supplies would be a welcome task. With each passing moment she felt more at ease and useful.

Michael O'Connor

As Michael sat filling out paperwork, he thought about the developments at the Renolds place. He was happy to hear that the sisters were taking over the ranch and seemed to have some hands to help. From the looks of the fancy cars, some friends of theirs must be visiting. No need to disturb them tonight. Maybe some time tomorrow he'd stop by and say hello. If the finances were as tough as they were before, he might offer some vet services pro bono until they were back on their feet. It'd be the neighborly thing to do, as long as it didn't take him away from his other patients too much - something this boss, Dr. Cortland, wouldn't much like.

Once finished, Michael hit the hay and slept well.

As day broke, he got ready for another round of visits to ranches and farms.

OOC: Not sure how time works here. At least one other person is in the morning, but given this is an SRP and there were a couple folks awake, I don't want to jump the gun.
