The Quiet Thread

While on vacation recently, I went canoeing on a lake with my son.
It was the middle of the afternoon, but a weekday. We pretty much had the lake, or at least the part of it we were on, all to ourselves.
Of course we chatted and stuff some. But he's my quiet kid.
So, we just paddled. Nothing but the soft sounds of the paddles moving through the water. The gentle breeze on our faces.
Being with him.
Quietly.

You're three for three, Lakey. :rose::rose::rose:

Welcome Miss B. :)

I need quiet time, too.

This morning. It's the first day of schools here. And it's the last day of first day of school for my family.
I woke up this morning, feeling a little melancholy.
I was the first up. (which is not unusual).
I went down and got the coffee going.
I was the only one up.
The soft "shhhhh" of the coffee maker was the only real sound.

It was quiet.

I'm going to break protocol here.
The golden silence was broken for me as my son - nearly a man now - came down the stairs (if you have teenage boys, you'll know what I'm talking about).
It was OK that the quiet ended that way, this morning.

I laughed (quietly) to myself when I read this.
I have two teenaged boys, i know exactly what you're talking about. :)

A friend of mine has just been appointed as a librarian. We are planning to celebrate this good news, but she says it must be quietly  :)

Also, isn't a quiet room in which the only sound is the ticking of a clock rather lovely?

Lol...

Well yeah...an appointment of Party Planner would have had a different celebration vibe:D

Hehe :D

Actually, she's not known for doing anything quietly! She's been waiting a long time for this opportunity, though, I'm so pleased for her.

In an attempt to be quiet I've decided to purchase and SLR camera and hide behind lamp posts to take pictures from afar. Although someone suggested to me that it might be inappropriate. Can't think why?

Aren't SLRs quite noisy?
