I was a Ford person until one one-half years ago when I cut loose the last one I had. Now I have a Toyota... I learned a thing or two about resale and when I worked there. As an investment, foreign is better. (But I do buy other made in the USA things, it's pure economics)

Well, for what it's worth, I posted an apology on Nomade's thread. I think he deserved it.

He tried to play by the rules. He's new - but he registered. He put his thread in the wrong place, and it could have been handled better than it was. Since I posted first, and goofed all over him, I'll take the rap for this one. I think he was used pretty badly by some of us who know better - I know that I do. Had that happened to me, I'd have concluded that you (me included) are all psychotics off their meds.

I feel that having fun is one thing. Smarting off to a twit who pulls some crap is one thing, too - what happened to Nomade was beyond the pale, in my estimation. I hope that I was able to convey that to him in both my post and my PM to him, asking him not to give up on us. We were, all of us, new once.

I'm not sure that I can give my "stamp of approval" to a thread such as this if it means that people like Nomade will be abused like the new little kid on the first day of school when the bullies find him. They deserve better for the reasons sited above.

This is the Playground. Let us not play too rough. These are humans, just like us, and they have feelings, too - and they can be hurt.

I have a razor tongue. I can be funny as hell, and I can hurt people profoundly, too, if I don't play right. I was out of line on the Nomade post. I will try not to do that sort of thing in the future. I feel that I was unfair, and set him up for ridicule and verbal abuse.

What concerns me is that some of you helped - maybe you might have told me I was off-base sooner. Most of you know me, and a gentle nudge, or a swift kick in the ass, might have been in order.

We need to police ourselves. We cannot afford to form cliques, nor can we flog the newcomer just because. How many of us, if we found that someone, would be here 30 days later? Damned few, I think. So, the life of Lit, and the fun it has brought us, needs to be preserved by welcoming the newcomer, not harassing him.

I will continue to try to look out for people in Nomade's shoes, and offer guidance instead of the back of my hand. I can smile, and should do so, instead of sneering. None of us is so special that we get a free pass. I know that I have done nothing to earn one.

Frankly, I hope the guy accepts my offer and can find the fun here that each of us seeks.

I hope also that some of you may consider this course, and help me in the future to follow to a more sensitive and considerate approach to the rest of you in general.

I will not give quarter to rampant bullshit however. And I haven't gone soft, either. I just think the guy deserved a chance. I feel I may have cheated him out of it. I hope not.

Ya know..i somewhat agree with what you said mbb..but you know what??? when i came here and started posting, i got flamed hella just for being new and for being a whole lot of other things..and i often got my feelings hurt, and then i realized, this is the internet, if i had 1.00 to everytime i got hurt on here, i'd be one rich bitch. But inturn i learned to stand my ground on here, i hope he comes back and gives us all the middle finger and tells us to fuck off in addition to finding what he was looking for. I really do. Am i sorry, a little. It feels shitty to be flamed i've been there, but anyone that posts here at lit is subjected to some kind of possibility that one may be picked on. I'm still picked on to this day, but i can't let it drive me away, he has every right to be here, as we all do, and if he leaves, well you know what, that's a personal problem, maybe he needs to learn to tell people to fuck off or just ignore us. We're not all "shiny happy people", there's many of us that have a wicked sense of humor. Yes, we should learn how to control it, but this is me and who i am. Just like in real life, not everyone's going to get along, and not everyone is going to give someone a chance. Sad but true. Maybe one day i'll get called on my shit, and that's fine. I accept full responsibility for my actions.
