I wonder if we can nail this one once and for all.

I have an outline story plot which can be made to work in various directions - but it would be helpful to know something ahead of deciding on exactly which way to take it.

Is the 'predatory lesbian', in all but name, a myth largely invented by straight males to feed their wank moments? Specifically in regard to 'non-consent' or 'forced' scenarios, do such women exist in reality?

Maybe setting the bar somewhat lower, can I ask the L 'community' whether it is at least something lesbians themselves fantasise about?

I think yes. many women including me have such fantasies. I'm a domme so the desire to be a predator or hunter is strong in me. and I also know subs who desire to be the 'prey' in a sexual relationship.
This is something so common in a bdsm relationship between two women.

I've been looking at the reality as far as reported crime stats are concerned. It seems that female-on-female non-consent is not the huge rarity we might think - although almost all the reports appear to come from lesbian-lesbian contexts.

Would be fun to consider that a tough, (necessarily?) butch mama goes out a-hunting down straight prey of a Friday night in deepest, darkest suburbia...

There are billions of people in the world and trillions of human interactions so yes, the “predatory lesbian” most likely exists but I doubt very often. When it does happen it’s in all likelihood a case of criminal violation as opposed to a healthy erotic encounter. Given the Domme to sub ratio, any Woman seeking “prey” in a D/s healthy way isn’t going to have to do much hunting.
