Show us, good Lord,

A Christian who lived sixteen hundred years ago, Saint Augustine, left behind some words that open wide the gates of the Gospel. He struggled a great deal in order to come to God. He suffered from his behaviour as a young man. He was so honest with himself that at times he must have despaired of his own self. Then one day he was able to write down these words: "If you desire to see God, you already have faith."

In whoever lives the first of the Beatitudes, "Happy the simple in heart", Christ allows the light of the Gospel to shine, incomparably. And simplicity brings to birth, all unexpected, a peaceful joy.

I pray I dont' kill anyone.

I've boxed with God many times over, but I believe there's something bigger and better out there and I'm on the path I need to be on.

So, whoever you are please grant me the insight and wisdom to move on and do what I'm supposed to do.

blessed be.

Good morning Lord,

Another day and another prayer. Thank you Lord for all you do, small things like my heating coming on this morning, even though I wasn't sure I had it set right, heeding the prayers of football fans everywhere when Mikel Arteta was reported to be doing ok after a nasty knock on the pitch and many, many other things.

Today I have a day of journeys ahead of me, I ask for those travelling mercies, always mentioned in these kind of prayers *chuckles* get me there and back safely and on time, Thank you Lord.

I pray for Joe W as he does some travelling too, Keep him safe.

Abs is in my prayers as she deals with this difficult time in her life, Keep her close by you, and ease her days with gifts of your love.

Thank you for hearing my prayers,

Amen.

Jesus, peace of our hearts, in the Gospel you ask the question: "Who am I for you?" You are the one who searches tirelessly for us. In your life on earth, you were affected to the depths of your being; you wept at the death of someone you loved. And for you, Christ, loving is expressed in an infinite goodness of heart.

Just viewing the news today Lord. Be with those poor people caught up in the Bali bombings today. Be with the relatives of those who've died and those who were injured and traumatised. Be with the political leaders, police and all people involved in seeking out the terrorists who did this. Lord bless these people as they hurt and mourn,

Amen

Humble prayer is within the reach of everyone. Sharing with Christ in all simplicity enables us to be with him one day. The apostle Paul knew this when he wrote, "We do not know how to pray, but the Holy Spirit comes to help us in our inability and prays within us."

An equal trust shown to all the peoples of the earth, and not just to some, opens a way to peace. In every nation, there is a small number of demented persons who are capable, if they come to power, of drawing the masses into the vortex of hatred and war. For this reason it is crucial never to humiliate members of a nation when a few of its leaders have triggered unbelievable violence.
Are we sufficiently aware that no one people is more guilty than others - that doesn't exist and never will.

It's so easy to turn inward when yu're having a bad day. I pray my bad mood lifts so that i don't pass it on to anyone today.

Lord, my thoughts are still with those recovering from the Bali bombings, be with them Lord. For those suffering in the aftermath of Rita and Katrina Lord, be with them.

Amen

There are countless Christians who undergo an inner struggle, and sometimes suffering, in order to be bearers of peace in that communion of love which is the Church. They are not naive when confronted with abuses that undermine communion. They could criticize the inflexible attitudes of some people. Far from allowing themselves to be drawn in that direction, they strive for silence and love with all their soul. When they express their desires, they are careful not to dig ditches that could separate people still more. They search for all that stimulates us to live as people who are already reconciled.

In the presence of physical violence or moral torture a question plagues us: if God is love, where does evil come from?
No one can explain the why of evil. In the Gospel, Christ enters into solidarity with the incomprehensible suffering of the innocent. Did he not come to earth so that every human being might know that he or she is loved?
