Granted, it’s ridiculously early to be making projections about 2024, but with the midterm voting behind us, the presidential primary season of speculation is upon us. Trump is expected to announce his plans today.

At the moment, DeSantis is widely perceived as the most viable alternative to Trump, but other names are out there. One of them is Mike Pompeo. There are already threads where people can discuss DeSantis. This one can be the common thread for posting updates and commentary on Pompeo. Here’s what the former SOS said about the status of his 2024 plans at this point.

Trump will attack anyone who runs against him, but he's going to go thermonuclear on being challenged by someone who served in his administration.

I still think the odds are against anyone noteworthy running against Trump, except for known anti-Trumpers who obviously won't have a prayer.

I don't think much of Pompeo: unlikable, homely, lots of shady spending as Secretary of State that would come up in any campaign. The fact that he wouldn't even make the Kansas governor's race, which should have been teed up for him, tells me he's all about making money now.

Gotta wonder what dirt Pompeo might have on Trump that he could surreptitiously release during the "republican" primary.

That said:

Between the potential squabble over the speaker of the House position, and what Is shaping up to be an ugly GOP primary, the American people will get a good isolated look at the chaos and hate that permeates the right wing in politics, government, and society.

Must see TV.

You do understand without a right wing ya don't have a left wing.

As long as the present speaker takes a hike!

ineedhelp1 hasn't been paying attention. (Surprise)

The "left wing" HASN'T hijacked the Democratic Party.

The "right wing" HAS hijacked the republican party.

Hope that helps.

The left wing hasn’t hijacked the dem party?? Well, that is an unequivocally false statement. Apparently you’re not paying attention. You’d be hard pressed to find a true liberal or moderate Democrat in your party. What you will find is 223 bots marching in lockstep with their noses up Nancy’s ass gurgling **YESSS BOSS** ” fuck my constituents my allegiance to party comes first”

Every time I think I'm immune to the shock of how much projection goes on in this place...

Of course, if you believe everyone to the left of John McCain is a communist, of course you're going to believe the left wing has hijacked the Dems.

Oh, and I have never once heard anyone express any desire that Mike Pompeo run for president. Not from any point on the spectrum.

Try media outlets other than the ones you frequent, Pompey‘s name is out there.

That's a good opportunity to provide sources that back this up......or not ¯\(°_o)/¯

ineedhelp1 and hir ilk will never appreciate how much of a moderate olive branch nominee Joe Biden was in 2020 or how moderately he and the Democrat controlled congress have governed.

*shrugs*

Pompeo has accumulated so much negative baggage that I think it would be great for the Republicans to run him in the next presidential race.

You poor thing. You sound like you are really hurting from the GOP's stunning failure to comply with the history of midterm elections. Keep putting party before the needs of the people-- some day that strategy might work, right?

Read my post again. I didn't say anything about Pompeo raising a trial balloon, or about speculation that he would run (which is what your links and Boomer's are about). I said I'd never heard anyone express any desire to see him run, like we have with Trump and DeSantis (and, come to think of it, that's about it for the Republicans).

I agree that Trump and DeSantis have the stage at this point, we’re not finished with midterms yet. Nothing happens in a vacuum, I’m sure within his inner circle the push is on. I’m sure he wouldn’t hint at running if there wasn’t support behind the scenes.

really?
"San Franciscans face about a 1 in 6 chance each year of being a victim of property or violent crime, which makes SF more dangerous than 98%of all US cities, both large and small."

Way to go Nancy!!!!!

https://www.hoover.org/research/why-san-francisco-nearly-most-crime-ridden-city-us

Hmmm seems you're wrong.....colour me surprised....SF doesn't even make the top 20 list.

https://worldpopulationreview.com/us-city-rankings/most-violent-cities-in-america

But if you use percentages only, and use EVERY city in the US,then yes SF is in the top 2%....(19,495 cities)

Plenty of things to criticize her for, but crime in the city of SF is not one of them. She serves in Congress. She is not the mayor, the DA, or the chief of police in SF.
Neither does McCarthy, that was my point, I responded to # 17

Did Pompeo announce at the rally last night too? I think I missed that one

That's what you were attempting........lol...you failed.
I put the same onus of local governing responsibility on Nancy as # 17 put on McCarthy, none, neither have that responsibility, both are on the federal level. I just pointed out that Nancy's back yard has its problems based on # 17's analogy.
