So, I'm about to get on the pill. I wanted to know which ones you ladies use and which ones you prefer. Please tell me why. I haven't been on the pill in years because of various reasons - including the way my last one fucked up my system. But, it's time to get back on it.

The pill I'm currently on is called Zovia. It's generic for something, but, I couldn't tell you since I've never really looked into it. Now, I'm the type that could get pregnant just standing next to a man, but, this pill seems to work for me as where the other Ortho Tri cyclene(sp?) pills didn't work. I've had 2 miscarriages and one live birth while taking those.

Good luck.

I love the little white ones with the plus sign on them, unless I am feeling like color, then it is the red and yellow ones (as long as I am not taking the purple ones.)

heh heh jk:D

I've been on the pill since July......started out on Minestrin, but had horrible experiences with it (frequent breakthrough bleeding, extreme mood swings, and several other problems).

Since November I've been on Tricyclen (a low dose progestin/estrogen combination pill). The difference with it compared to Minestrin is that it's a triphasic pill (rather than a monophasic pill, such as Minestrin), so it increases the dosage of progestin each week, until the placebo/no pill week (the progestin, according to my doctor, is what holds off the period until the end of the cycle).

I've so far had absolutely no problems with this pill.

Swollen ankles, major irritability, and some weight gain. Oh, and the headaches from hell. The weight gain is still there, but the other symptoms are not so bad this month. I still think I will try another pill.

While I've not been on the pill in eons, the one I used (and used from the age of 17) was called Triphasil. I never had any side affects from it and it never failed me.

A condom for me

As a girl in my mid-thirties I no longer want to be on the pill, I use condoms as my chosen birth control, and I feel all the better for it.

Yasmin

I've been on both Ortho Tri-cyclene and Yasmin... and I like Yasmin the best. It's a lower dose and I don't have as bad cramps as usual and my skin doesn't dry out like it did when I was on Ortho Tri-cyclene.

I tried Yasmin and spotted during the month and my short little periods went to 10 days. I just started Ortho-Trycyclin low and although this one hasn't made me nauseous...I do feel a little more emotional than normal. Then again...I've had a tough couple of weeks.

I'm not taking the pill for birth control though, I'm taking it to regulate my periods.

Good luck.

It's hell to be a woman sometimes.

I'm taking TriPhasil (generic Trivora). It's a low dosage, tri-phasic pill so the level varies each week. I haven't had any problems with it. The first month back on it, my period lasted 10 days (that sucked) but since then the length has been normal (5 days) but i've been much less emotional and i've been taking half the usual amount of Aleve to deal with the rest of PMS.

The generic, Trivora, is apparently very popular, it's been back-ordered to the manufacturer since November.

I was on Loestrin Fe, I liked it very much. Time for me to get back on actually.

Ortho Tri-Cyclene made my skin outrageously dry. Nothing seemed to help. I decided to try the depo provera shot at the beginning of the month after asking people here for input and checking the web for information. So far so good. No spotting, no moodiness, my skin is clear and best of all NO PERIODS!

I am in the first month of three though. I'll keep you posted.

Low dose Alesse (sp?) only the generic version. I've been using it for several years with no problems.

It's Elesse (or something similar), but it starts with an E. It was one of the generics available at the pharmacy last month when my usual one was still back-ordered.

I have been on 2 different pills... first was Alesse or whatever way it is spelled.. its a 28 day cycle pill... you take 21 day of pills and then 7 those dfferent colored once (I'm guessing there placebos).. this pill is suspected of being the cause for fucking up my thyroid.. I personally doubt it thought I just dont see how.

but fact that its been fine since I quit it is pretty quincidental.

the next I took was ortho tri cyclen.. 21 day cycle. 21 days with pills.. 7 day NOTHING.. I dont like this I am worried of forgetting but on the other day you ALWAYS start on the sunday.. ALWAYS. so not that hard to remember... I didnt like that pill made me sick.. breasts hurt for the first few cycles.. and my tummy (uterus or overies or both) hurt 2 weeks before each period... so thats almost all the time. I'm not on the pill now and it doesnt do that.. so it must hve been the pill.

gotta keep in mind I'm only 4 foot tall and 50 lbs.... these pills arent ment for little people.
and cant cut the pill in 2.. may not be enough.
not safe to do.

if it wasnt for my thyroid.. I prefer the first. but I'm still not convinced its what caused it

its only about 85-90% safe.

I've been on the Ortha Evera patch for the last 3 months and I love it! I could never remember to take the pill and the patch is so much easier. The side effects the first month were nausea and tiredness but they got better after the first month. On the plus side, after three months of taking it, I have gone up a cup size!:D

I cant take the pill anymore. They gave me a blood clot back in 99, but if I could use them, I would choose Ortho-Tri-Cylene. Good luck on choosing.
