We all talk about "policemen look younger" or "is that song really an oldie ?" but what things make Lit members conscious of their increasing age ?

For me, it is filling out Legal Aid applications for clients -- always in the first line I have to fill out a date of birth for the (criminal) defendant.

When I was first working in the field (1986) the average date of birth was close to my own - 1962 - just occasionally in the juvenile court there might be a 1971ish D.O.B.

Then as years passed I raised an eyebrown when I had a client or two who were not born when I started school (1974)

I am now getting clients who were born AFTER I qualified - that hits home really hard !

Teaching my son to drive (and then him getting his learners permit) did it for me..

My daughter turns 12 this month.

I look at her and remember when I was 12.

How about having a 18 year old son who is going to make me a grandmother in August! And a 12 year old daughter on top of that.

But I really don't feel old.....yet!

when i put my cds on and the kids look at me with a blank expression on their faces and say what the hell is this

Kinda sorta

okay I'm still young by many of your standards, but still.

When I walk down the street and I see people younger than me (in HS, college freshman/sophmores and all) it makes me realize how fast time does fly, and I'm not getting any yonger.

Trying to explain to my kids what a record album is/was and THEN trying to explain how they were played!! I felt about 100 yrs. old that day! *LOL*

Listening to a local radio station that plays 'oldies' and then realizing that the songs were what I listened to in high school!!!

Having my son ask if they had drive-ins when I was little and referring to those days as "back in the olden days"!!

I've been there
Or trying to explain why the movie "Good Morning Vietnam" always makes me cry
Or explaining why I had to use a sliderule (what's that?) when I took statistics and algebra

When I walk down the street and see an 18 year old hottie with his Dad. I am more likely to look at his DAD! When did this happen!

My youngest son is 20 years old, and has been in the Navy for a year.

I've been married almost HALF of my life!

I won't hit that marker for 12 more years, thank goodness.

My dog is getting old. I remember watching his birth, and now I look at him, nearly deaf and cataracts on his eyes, and I feel the progression of age.

when im with my friends nephews/nieces and we say to ourselves we listened to adults better then kids do today :)

is 19 to young to feel old

When I empoyed a girl at work who was born in 1984 and I realised she is *easily* young enough to be my daughter

what makes me feel old is the opening paragraph of eagle70's thread about going to a really great rave. it's not that he went, not that he drank and hooked up. it's not that he had a blast. what makes me feel old is..............................................

I'VE NEVER HEARD OF EVEN ONE OF THOSE BANDS!!!!!!!!

sorry, didn't mean to yell
