The Peace of Art

One of my favorite places in the whole state of New Jersey is right near where I live: https://www.groundsforsculpture.org/

I visit and walk around the grounds several times a year not only because they're always updating and changing displays, but also because walking around the grounds is so tranquil and inspirational.

I love this place and what it represents. Bringing artists from all over the world to explore themselves and be with like minded creative people 🌹 BTW they have a dam good restaurant 🌹

A great chef is as much an artist as a painter, writer, sculptor, or architect. Therefore, I submit this epic wedding cake by Malizzi Cakes and Pies.
I'm legit obsessed with cake art. I watch all the shows. A couple of friends tried it and it astounded me! One did a revolver for a groom's cake. The other did the wedding cake and it was gorgeous. The icing was so smooth it looked like fondant, but she had spent hours smoothing it. 😍

When I was in my early 20's, I took a baking class at our local community college. The instructor was the head pastry chef at Mother's Bakery in New Hope, PA (very high end bakery that's still in business today). I learned quite a lot, but nothing even remotely close to the cake art that's being created these days.
I love Nailed It on Netflix because that's what my cake art would look like. 😂😂😂 Bless my heart! 😂

Good morning chocolate coffee art for our beautiful thread hostess. :rose: 😘 🥰
OMG, I love you! That is the most delicious... um, I mean beautiful thing I've ever seen! Thank you!

Château de Versailles, France
I laughed when I saw this because I have been to Versailles twice, decades apart and BOTH times it was raining like crazy. Now I can't even see pics of it without rain! 😂

Bri's last pic reminded me of a pic that my Mom always said was me (minus the dog, they never let us have one) because I spent half my childhood in the corner. 😂

I'm fond of many artistic style, especially modern ones. But I love the more traditional styles, and my favorite is the Hudson River School. I just love epic portraits of natural/regular scenes with a lot of detail. The Western artists of the late 19th century really had a great grasp of that. The Hudson River School focused on upstate New York, which is still one of the most beautiful places you will ever see. This particular one dated 1844 is by Thomas Cole, considered the father of that particular school.
