The Peace of Art

Diego Velázquez was criticized by his fellow artists for painting scenes of the lives and daily chores of common people. They also criticized him by saying he was just a portrait painter, that he couldn't paint historic scenes well. Just goes to show that you will always have haters, no matter how talented you are! His most famous painting is "Las Meninas".

Another one of his masterpieces is "The Triumph of Bacchus", also known as "The Drunks".

I remember an entire class on that painting, most of it discussing the man in the doorway.

"Thunder Ridge" - A lovely painting by Chris Cummings. It almost looks like a photograph. The detail of the brushwork is breathtaking!

I have always loved horses, I think they're the most beautiful creatures! Thank you for sharing!

“Maternal Happiness” by Adolf von Becker
This reminds me of my Italian grandmother who was never happier than when she was feeding the family.
