bonnie's parents move away, taking her with them.

Ronnie is now 35 and single. Seeeking a fresh start, he accepts a job across the country, in a strange city. when he arrives his first day, Bonnie is the woman in the next office....

Or maybe there's an arranged marriage for one of them but they truly desire the one they were unable to marry. Sort of similar to "Like Water for Chocolate." The sex in that story was so hot that things were literally getting set on fire.
