Over the last several days, “protesters” have pulled down statues in many cities across the country. A monument to Columbus was torn from its base, set on fire, and tossed in a lake. Another statue of Columbus in Minneapolis was destroyed, despite having been sculpted by an immigrant and given as a gift to the Italian-American community in the city. Several other Columbus statues have been, as the media so innocuously puts it, removed. Confederate monuments have been toppled as well. And now the mob has set its eyes on the Washington and Jefferson monuments. The mob may want to be careful felling those enormous statues, though. One mob member was critically injured on Wednesday night when a Confederate statue landed on his head.

Yet something rather conspicuous is missing in all of these videos of crazed mobs tearing down statues and monuments: law enforcement.

It’s a silly question to ask at this point, but, still, where are the police while these vandals destroy public property and tear down priceless works of art that have stood, in some cases, for a century or more? You almost have to remind yourself that the people tearing down the property actually do not have the legal right to do what they’re doing. You’d be excused for thinking otherwise – does the term “public property” mean that the public can do whatever it wants with it? – however, destruction of property worth more than $500 is a felony in most states. These statues are worth many thousands of dollars, making these mob-led “removals” felony crimes. They are also dangerous crimes, as the man who had his skull cracked open in Virginia convincingly discovered.

But this has been the theme in recent weeks. The police standby while leftist radicals do, quite literally, whatever they want.

The problem is that when the Left has a legitimate point (once out of 10 tries) it is ignored. And because the Left controls the education system, the entertainment industry, and most communications outlets, they have a really dumb, easily manipulated audience for the one-out-of-ten idea.

The Right needs to move faster and take issues head on. President Trump - a populist - is about the only figure who does it even as clumsily as he does. Republicans generally suck at it especially losers like Sen. Mitch Turtle McConnell. That guy totally sucks.

And the Right needs to learn to pander. Pandering works. Pandering is effective. That's how the Left stays in power. Authenticity is irrelevant. Pander. Dump VP Mike Pence for a "minority" female. There are several highly skilled and talented women of all races and national origins who should be on the populist ticket. Or maybe someone gay or nonbinary. Or a talented African-American male. And someone not in their 70s or 80s. Whatever. Symbolism matters. The Left gets it.

people are desperate for a cause

well, there are some people who are simply happy to pillage and destroy

but.....most people....especially young people.....are desperately seeking a cause they can get behind.....why? because they essentially have no moral compass......mama and daddy were off working their entire childhoods....and thought someone at school was going to teach them something.....and someone did.....they were taught a far left doctrine put out by the dept of education.....taught that everyone is a winner.....that grades dont matter......taught that "citizenship" is a joke.....that national pride is a crime.....that the flag is an oppressive symbol.....that, in fact, America is a terrible place......all brought to you by today's department of education or dis-education

and so you have a generation or generations of young people literally with no grounding.....no clear understanding of what to stand for or why......and so an empassioned emblazened "war cry" comes along.....and they are chomping at the bit to join the cause.....

meanwhile on a much higher (or lower) plane.....the string pullers know that they can count on the young, the naive, the cause seekers to rally around and carry out whatever mission they set forth....so they hire antifa and and antifa hires troublemakers.....and you have the makings of a civil war

except....not really .....because the other side.....the people who can see what is happening.....patriots.......are not willing to engage in the insanity.....come try to burn my house down....yes, i will kill you all......but.....stand on the sidewalk and yell and scream....ill ignore you......but desecrate a cemetary or burn a flag and im not standing for it....at least not where i am.......

so yes....we are witnessing the most passionate, most desperate, most misguided effort by people who simply want something to follow.....led and fueled by those who would overthrow the president and largely the country......and for what?

because they are too ignorant......too unwilling to consider, study, or go see for themselves the results of the very type of society they so clamor for and aspire to.....go and see venezuela.....go and see greece.....go and see cambodia....go and see russia or any of countless other failed systems where the only people who have anything are the privileged few bought and paid for on the backs of everyone else.....the desire for socialism and communism is borne completely out of a fantasy concept where everyone is equal and everyone shares equally in the output of the collective......unfortunately it has been demonstrated over and over and over....that when everyone shares equally the output diminishes constantly because the least common denominator is the lowest output

i will rest my peace by saying.....yes....if we were to believe CNN, MSNBC, Facebook, Fox News and any number of other purveyors of propaganda we would believe there is rampant lawlessness and that we all hate each other......but, on the other hand, if we were to look around our own areas and the circles we travel in, and our own hearts....we would realize that it is all baseless lies.....that that is NOT our America.......so....yes, in some cities...misguided and foolish leaders may cause law enforcement not to do their jobs......but.....in the vast majority of America law enforcement, government leaders, and citizenry themselves.......are not hate mongerers, vandals, and America hating despots......quite the opposite!

because they are too ignorant......too unwilling to consider, study, or go see for themselves the results of the very type of society they so clamor for and aspire to.....go and see venezuela.....go and see greece.....go and see cambodia....go and see russia or any of countless other failed systems where the only people who have anything are the privileged few bought and paid for on the backs of everyone else.....the desire for socialism and communism is borne completely out of a fantasy concept where everyone is equal and everyone shares equally in the output of the collective......unfortunately it has been demonstrated over and over and over....that when everyone shares equally the output diminishes constantly because the least common denominator is the lowest output

i will rest my peace by saying.....yes....if we were to believe CNN, MSNBC, Facebook, Fox News and any number of other purveyors of propaganda we would believe there is rampant lawlessness and that we all hate each other......but, on the other hand, if we were to look around our own areas and the circles we travel in, and our own hearts....we would realize that it is all baseless lies.....that that is NOT our America.......so....yes, in some cities...misguided and foolish leaders may cause law enforcement not to do their jobs......but.....in the vast majority of America law enforcement, government leaders, and citizenry themselves.......are not hate mongerers, vandals, and America hating despots......quite the opposite!

The problem is, this kind of immaturity and ignorant lawlessness is like a run away cancer when it goes viral. If we let it happen in Seattle, it won't be long until it comes to a town near you and we become a balkanized country that can be easily exploited by our enemies to fuel our destruction from within.

A lot there, but I more or less concur.

On a one-on-one basis you can have a conversation about this and it not go sideways. Picked up at friend to take him to work now that the curfew us lifted. I like him I would not describe him as super bright, and I think he would acknowledge that he's not the best informed human being on the planet about current events and that if he had a better idea about the wide variety of sources he would understand that his limited sources are fairly narrow. He trusts me to be a person of goodwill and he understands that I'm coming from a completely different point of view politically and we both understand that we've lived completely different lives and respect each other.

To give you an idea about how not informed he tends to be he was making the three mile walk to work when he was stopped by cops after curfew quite late at asked what he was doing. Since you're not supposed to be out after curfew. He doesn't like contact with law enforcement in general and was a little panic-stricken that he wandered into a curfew situation. I was the one to explain the curfew to him because he hadn't even heard there was one. Keep in mind their mirror may not be some weed involved with his day today getting by.

He is under the impression that cops are supporting what Chauvin did. I quietly explained to him that what was done is pretty universally condemned by everyone, no matter where they are coming from including cops who have said point blank it was wrong. That's a pretty big divide.

I explain to him that the only thing even remotely controversial about what happened was whether this is they symptom of a huge problem that happens frequently or an isolated incident that indicates underlying issues that needs address.

Because of where he lives and we're a works and because of really poor infrastructure there's a stretch of freeway on ramp that he has to walk along in order to get where he's got to go or he's got to take about a mile extra to go around. He's been talk to buy cops on several occasions to see him there where he's not supposed to be he explains himself and they are compassionate and Express concern for his safety but he's never been ticket adore picked up a really hassle because he's relatively compliance individual. He's not looking to cause trouble but he's fearful that he will be caught up in an incident. That's sort of how I became acquainted with him a couple of years ago and how I came to give him rides to work when I can I just don't happen to be in that area very much anymore.

When you actually talk to people about their own personal experience is with the police they all have incidents where things didn't go ideally. That's no different from me and I can usually explain to them how things go wrong regardless of the color of your skin and they need to be made right when they go wrong. Did it's okay and appropriate Escalade those situations to a supervisor who will come out who will listen to you and will get the situation resolved.

Robert Byrd left the KKK in 1952 after being a member for a little over a year. He had apologized for his involvement with them a million times before his death in 2010. Hillary was 5 years old when Byrd left the KKK. Byrd also went on to champion civil rights, and the NAACP acknowledged his contributions to civil rights. I can see why Hillary looked up to him. He acknowledged he made a mistake when he was young, and he worked to atone for that mistake. That's what honorable people do.
