The summer of 2022 is drawing to a close, the air is starting to get a chill, the first few leaves are starting to change color, and the Summer Lovin' contest is in full swing, that can mean only one thing - it's time to start cranking out that Halloween story that you've been dying to tell! Let's kick off Autumn 2022 with a new support thread

Halloween (Oct 31)
Themes: scary stuff, costumes, Halloween traditions (trick-or-treating, etc.), etc.
  • You can begin submitting on (or before): September 30

  • The last day to submit is October 21

  • Winners Will Be Announced: October 28

  • Author must copy and paste the phrase "HALLOWEEN 2022" to the "Notes to Admin" field of the submission (without the quotation marks)

  • Add the tag "HALLOWEEN 2022" (without the quotation marks)

Read Laurel's notice of the start of the contest sticky at the top of the Authors' Hangout before submitting and follow the instructions in that thread. I will keep an eye out for that information and update this page as soon as I see it (or as soon as someone points it out to me)

This thread is to SUPPORT and ENCOURAGE authors to enter stories in the 2022 Halloween Contest. For you new writers, this thread is a great place to meet your fellow authors and share ideas, tips, and tricks of the trade.

As Ogg always tells us, there is an advantage to entering stories in one of Literotica's themed contests, apart from the possibility of winning, and that is that your story gets far more exposure and attention than it would normally do.

Some of that attention might be unwelcome, some abusive, this thread is good place to vent after getting that kind of attention. Some of that attention could be appreciative and helpful and this thread is a great place to come and share those accolades.

It's that time! Bring out your masks, candies, and creepy accessories, and prepare put a spell on your readership.

Ooh, coloured fonts and all, fancy!

No idea if I'll manage this one, having only just started a new horror story. My last Halloween story did well, but took about 18 months to produce...

I'm hoping some inspiration strikes me for this one. To this point, I've focused most of my writing on contests, with a few additional stories that don't quite fit those themes. My challenge this time is, trying to come up with a life event that happened around Halloween - or I can at least adapt to fit a Halloween theme. After 2 years of writing, I'm realizing this is the toughest part of writing only "adapted non-fiction" for the site contests.

I'm currently polishing up my Winter Holiday story and discovered that it fits here better than what I've been working on for this contest. Hmmmmm.

How fortuitous is that?
Not fortuitous, more like serendipitous, but it needs to stay right where it is, I'm taking a famous story back to its roots. I need to stay on track so I can double up on the Halloween contest and the Amorous Goods event

There is nothing more fun then following lots of rules.
Are you familiar with the military tradition of a "Dining In" or a "Dining Out"? They're semi-formal dinners held by officers and higher-ranking NCOs. They're meant to look serious but deep down they're quite silly because of all the silly rules, often they're intentionally contradicting because the consequences usually involve the purchase of alcohol.

I write about a "Dining Out" in We're a Wonderful Wife Ch. 6

Firstly, thanks Duleigh for kicking this off.

I'm working on one that has been very slow to write. It's a version of the age old story - aliens meet lonely girl, girl falls for aliens, aliens take over her body and slowly dissolve it. Well, that was the original idea but I can't quite do that. I'm thinking that they are like parasites, feeding off but not killing the host.

With that, Erotic Horror is out which leaves me with Scifi or Non Human as the category. I'm leaning towards SciFi...

I think I might have an idea after all. Non consent, I'm thinking from the start of it but ya never know which way it might go at this early of a stage. Only 3k words in.

THAT old trope? I can see why you backed off ;)

It doesn't have to be spacy or inhuman. A sorority trick-or-treating at a fraternity house could be quite the Halloween story.

There is also the Amorous Goods, A Literotica Anthology Series Season 3
which will over lap with this contest. A person could be in both using just one story if they follow both sets of rules. There is nothing more fun then following lots of rules.

Rules, to god-damned hell with rules! We have no rules. In fact, we don't need rules. I don't have to follow your stinking rules, you god-damned cabrón and chinga tu madre! (guess what I been reading lately)

That sums up most of the military. Look serious but deep down they're quite silly

I was hoping for two stories, but that muse keeps whispering dialogue in my ear for Story #2 not letting me get back to Story #1. I hate when she does that!

My muse is always moving me to a new story before the old one is done. If not constant murmurings of new ideas, she on vacation in Florida, sun, sand, sex with strange men, and drunk on tequila and attention. Straight muses, so fucking promiscuous, They're such sadistic bitches!

Jeebus. Already?

I'm currently working on a Winter entry and I'm also getting SF ideas. I'm not sure I'll be able to get it together for a Halloween entry.

I'll try. I usually enjoy this contest.

Tell me about it!
I had to move to Florida to catch up with my muse! Look at my story list and you'll see when I became a Floridian 🎃
