Marine Corps Colonel Ricky Burria has had a rather odd career for a Marine.
Most of his career was stellar, starting as a close-support fighter pilot in Iraq and exceling at both command and staff jobs at every level.
He had "a star next to his name", meaning he was being groomed for senior leadership in the USMC.
He got a huge break being named "junior military assistant to the Secretary of Defense" which looks good on paper but is actually a pretty dull job for a Lieutenant Colonel in Washington DC where there are hundreds of higher ranking service members, mostly generals.
Anyway, he was the junior military attache for then-Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin under President Joe Biden.
Burria got rave reviews as being the first guy there in the morning and the last guy to leave at night....absolutely committed to the job.
Well done.

(Side note: it is important to know here that the Secretary of Defense is authorized two aides: one civilian to handle political matters and one military Lieutenant General (3 stars) to be his liaison to the mllitary).

Trump wins the election, and appoints Pickled Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense. Hegseth immediately fires a large number of senior officers, because he can. He uses the excuse "not loyal to President Trump". The majority of the firings are disproportionately non-white and/or female. Strictly coincidental, I'm sure. /s

Burria survives the purge, as does Austin's military aide Lt. General Jennifer Short.
Burria does two canny things right away.
  • Burria ingratiates himself with Hegseth's Machiavellian manipulative wife Jennifer (the power behind the throne).
  • He also volunteers to accompany the Hegseths on their bi-weekly helicopter trips to their home in Tennessee. He has two hours of uninterrupted time with the boss, and uses this time to educate the clueless Hegseth on how to run a Department of Defense. They talk of classified stuff, and Burria answers MRS. Hegseth's questions about classified intelligence.

Then came the Signal App affair.
  • Hegseth wanted the Signal iphone app installled and configured on his personal phone.
  • Hegseth asked his political aide to get this done, who deferred saying you had to have permission from the military to get a security waiver.
  • Hegseth then asked his military aide to get the waiver. The Pentagon pushed back strongly, saying Hegseth would open a security hole wide enough to drive a Tesla Cybertruck through. They wanted a waiver from President Trump.
  • Hegseth fired Lt. General Short for failing to accomplish her mission (plus his wife didn't trust any of his female direct reports, given Hegseth's documented history of fucking the hired help at every professional position he's held since college)
  • Hegseth informally names Lieutenant Colonel Burria as his military aide.
  • Congress gets a bit pissy, Hegseth has installed a guy 5 ranks below what is authorized, this could make for potentially embarrassing situation in certain situations and makes a mockery of chain-of-command.
  • Hegseth says fine and promotes Burria one rank (the maximum he can without Senate and Presidential approval) and declares this will have to do. Burria is now an 0-6 "full" Colonel.
  • Burria puts on his uniform, with all combat medals, at the DOD IT department unannounced and demands that they install and configure Hegseth's app requests IMMEDIATELY.
  • The DOD staff has never seen this sort of shit before. They comply.
  • Signalgate happens. Congress finds out Burria's role in this and asks for a written explanation of events, and oh, btw, why is a colonel doing the job of a 3 star general?
  • Burria's response is basically four words: Fuck you. I retire.
  • Burria submits retirement paperwork immediately. but because he was only a "full colonel" for a month or so, he is forced to forfeit his rank due to lack of time-in-grade at his position and retires at his old rank of "lieutenant colonel", forfeiting about $1200 per month additional retirement pay.
  • Burria is immediately hired as a "civilian" aide to Hegseth at the highest rate that doesn't require Senate conversation.
  • Burria, who is now retired military, opens up an account on Elon's Fascist playground and Trooth Social. He issues daily tweets about how great Trump and Hegseth are doing.

Thanks for reading.
Also, fuck you Lance, I'll post whatever I want.

Meanwhile we look over our shoulder and recall the failures of the Biden Pentagon:

1. Gaza Pier Operation Mishap (2024)

A Pentagon initiative to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza via a floating pier resulted in 62 U.S. service members injured, one fatality, and $31 million in damages. The operation, active for just 20 days, fell short of its objectives, delivering aid to only 450,000 Palestinians instead of the projected 1.5 million. A Pentagon watchdog report cited inadequate planning, poor inter-service coordination, and failure to account for environmental conditions. New York Post

2. Repeated Audit Failures

The Department of Defense failed its seventh consecutive audit in 2024, unable to fully account for its $824 billion budget. Auditors reported insufficient information to form a complete evaluation, highlighting persistent financial management issues within the Pentagon. Responsible Statecraft+9Fox News+9Responsible Statecraft+9Stars and Stripes

3. Afghanistan Withdrawal (2021)

The U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan was marked by chaos, with the Taliban rapidly taking control. Top generals attributed the disorderly exit to inadequate planning by the Biden administration, leading to a rushed evacuation and the fall of Kabul. PBS: Public Broadcasting Service

4. Secretary Austin's Undisclosed Hospitalization (2024)

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was hospitalized for several days without informing the President, senior officials, or the public. This lack of transparency raised concerns about national security and continuity of command. An internal review acknowledged that the failure to disclose increased risks unnecessarily. Wikipedia

5. Airspace Safety Incidents

In May 2025, an Army Black Hawk helicopter caused two commercial flights to abort landings at Reagan National Airport due to its unexpected flight path near the Pentagon. This incident occurred despite recent safety measures following a previous fatal mid-air collision, prompting investigations and criticism over military-civilian airspace coordination. Now Biden will never be President!

You're such a fucking dumb simp. Address the failures of your administration or fuck off, Jack.

Weak deflection, even when considering the low bar we set for you.
