Everyone is a bit of a hyperbole, I'll admit.
But I just can't help but stir the pot in a thread that has the stated purpose of heaping praise on one of the most unaccountable Presidents in recent memory, and thus one of the most abusive of his power.

Unaccountable? By what measure? He's certainly not abusive of his power if we are comparing him to presidents in recent history as opposed to those in sci-fi.
Stirring the pot however it generally something only idiots do. There is an Obamabad thread, just nobody posts in it. And that's not because everybody loves Obama there are tons of individual fuck you obama threads just nobody with the skills to find the all encompassing thread.
Unaccountable? By what measure?
Could it be that the administration's feel-good propaganda is actually doing what it's supposed to?There is an Obamabad thread, just nobody posts in it.
Because not only are you not a beautiful unique snowflake bringing something original, it's going to be washed away in a huge pot of sauce.
It's this thread that's not original. It's the political equivalent of a collection of teenagers who just love to talk about how pretty the prom queen is.

Such a handsome couple.
Drawing a mustache on pictures of the prom queen.Aaaaaaand...you're doing what, again?
Umm...The unregulated drone assassination wars? The Wall Street bailout? PRISM or any number of other government invasions of citizen privacy? The continued imprisonment of whistle-blowers?
Nixon wiretapped a few of his rivals and was rightfully run out of office with pitchforks. Obama wiretapped the whole damned country, but it's all good because he said some nice things about gay people.
Could it be that the administration's feel-good propaganda is actually doing what it's supposed to?
This thread tells me everything I need to know about the answer to that question.

She's a mean bitch, no matter how popular she is.

After President Barack Obama agreed on Tuesday to sign a $607 billion "defense" bill that undermines his own plan to shutter the U.S. military prison at Guantánamo Bay, media outlets sounded the death knell for hopes that the facility will close before his term ends in 2017.
But Omar Shakir, a Bertha fellow at the Center for Constitutional Rights, told Common Dreams that the president, in fact, still retains the ability to close the prison—and must act now to fulfill his repeated pledges.
"Obama has been able and continues to be able to transfer the men cleared for release by every security and intelligence agency," Shakir said over the phone from Guantánamo where he is meeting with clients. "It is in his power to accelerate the pace of periodic review boards. He has the ability through the Department of Justice to ensure that those who face trial do so in fair proceedings in federal court."
"Obama has failed to follow through with his campaign promises and commitments to close Guantánamo by taking concrete steps while in power to articulate and execute a vision," Shakir continued. "In the vacuum we have seen opportunistic politicians from both sides of the aisle using Guantánamo as a tool for their own purposes at the expense of the critical principles of due process and freedom, holding men without charge in indefinite detention without end."
Europe is finally taking action, with product labels for anything from the settlements claiming to be Israeli. So we're still gonna ignore them building illegal settlements? Yippy. At least they like us?
Well, if that's your barometer, then this is hardly the place to be!![]()

Netanyahu Praises Meeting with Obama, Requests Record Aid
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has wrapped up a visit to Washington. A day after meeting President Obama at the White House, Netanyahu sat down with lawmakers and addressed the Center for American Progress, a Democratic think tank. His appearance comes as leaked emails reported by The Intercept show CAP has censored its own writers on the topic of Israel. Netanyahu has reportedly requested a record $5 billion in annual U.S. military aid, an increase over the $3 billion the U.S. already provides. Ahead of Netanyahu’s visit, Israel moved to greenlight the expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank with 2,200 new housing units. The move recalled a similar act by Netanyahu just before a visit to Israel by Vice President Joe Biden in 2010. The settlements are considered illegal under international law. Addressing the Jewish Federation of North America, Netanyahu praised his talks with Obama, saying, "Israel has no better friend than America."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: "I had a very good meeting with President Obama at the White House, and I deeply appreciate his commitment to bolster Israel’s security at the time when the Middle East is becoming more dangerous than ever. And I also want to say that we are sharing so many things. The United States is giving indispensable help to Israel, indispensable, but Israel is returning that assistance almost on a daily basis in intelligence and in many other things."

On Aug. 14, the Department of Justice (DOJ) blocked the release from the Guantánamo Bay prison of Tariq Ba Odah, a gravely ill detainee who was cleared for transfer by the Guantánamo Review Task Force, which was created by an executive order in 2009. On a hunger strike for the past eight years and kept alive by brutal force-feedings, he now weighs less than 75 pounds and is reportedly near death. Ba Odah, a Yemeni national, has spent nearly a third of his life at the facility but has never been charged with a crime.
The opposition to his release contradicts President Barack Obama’s professed determination to close the facility before leaving office. It also calls into question the validity administration’s interagency strategy for closing the prison and the argument that Congress is solely responsible for the continued detention of the remaining 116 inmates there, including the 52 who have been cleared for transfer.
The DOJ’s objection was filed under seal. The government’s lawyers claimed the unprecedented secrecy was warranted because it contains sensitive medical information. But Ba Odah’s deteriorating medical condition is public knowledge, and his prolonged hunger strike was intended to draw attention to his desperate plight. It appears instead that the DOJ was maneuvering to avoid public scrutiny and backlash, as it has done in its vehement opposition to the release of videotapes of force-feedings of former detainee Abu Wa’el Dhiab.
