Knee Grow first came to most Anericans' attention a few years back when some white kids at a basketball tournament in Ohio thought it would be funny to wear jerseys with fake names that mocked black people with racist terms.

These names included "Coon" and of course "Knee Grow."

"Knee Grow," in case you didn't know, is a bogus phonetic spelling of "Negro," which is one of a long series of objectionable names imposed on black people by whites that were ultimately abandoned. Negro in particular is uncomfortably close to the "N" word, which is probably why racist white people have so much fun saying it.

I have reported its use in the title of a thread and its direction toward me as an insult. I have not received a response, none of the offensive posts have been removed, and the authors are still posting.

So I guess it's okay to say things like that here, and I owe an apology for questioning the white trash hillbilly cracker toothless meth-head NotSees regarding their racist babbling.

First off, I'm taking your word that this is even true. I've never seen the N word used in a story here. Second, HOW DO YOU KNOW that the authors using it are BLACK? No one is required to self-identify here by race, so you're just assuming. Third, the story side of this site is different from Forum or Chat, so it's not rbe sane. Fourth, if a decision was actually made to allow "black" authors to say it but not white,that's a decision by the people who run the site, and I had no visibility or insight into that so I cant tell you why.

Just myself, but I find nothing offensive in the term Negro. It has been used harmlessly for centuries. If it does get misused then that's on the moron misusing it and not the word itself.

Conversely, I do find it offensive to use the term "Knee Grow" because when you pronounce it as two separate words it definitely comes off with the kind of Southern accent you'd hear from bigoted, ignorant, white trash hillbilly crackers.

That said, I appreciate why you would react strongly and invoke the denigrating epithet of white trash hillbilly crackers because that's what the author of the post intended to provoke.

In the future though, it is best not to respond to bigoted, ignorant comments with more bigoted, ignorant comments such as 'Not-see' and etc.
