Since the first oil embargo in the 70s The US has really not had an energy policy. No clear cut plan for the future needs of the country. Theres been lots of talk but no action. Here it is almost 30 years since that first embargo and still no solution in sight. So whats the answer? Nuclear? Oil Drilling? Solar? Every option will have its detractors. But clearly the country needs a policy. The US cannot continue to ignore this issue. While conservation is one piece of the puzzle it is not the total solution.

I'm sorry, I can't deal with your posts. You are obviously a thinking, opinionated individual. Why don't you take the time to make your posts more readable?

Lavender. I read bored1's post before I came to yours and then I went back and read his again.

The first time around it made perfect sense to me, the second time around I noticed a few minor punctuation and grammatical problems but please will you put me out of my misery...

Where the hell are the spelling mistakes?

:D

Much as I hate to agree, Peepee, with my Learned Friend to the Far Looney Left - and having an Undergrad Minor in English... There are no spelling mistakes, IMHO. :D

As to a cogent Energy Policy - I also agree w/ M. Penible. IMHO, only a Dubbya-loving Texican would try to defend Cheney's "MORE, MORE" stance.

Well....... y'all.......... I'm a G.W. respectin...... TEXAN.....

and I say.... "Let the free markets work." ......

When government tries to force demand, or to control supply, it always screws up. A free market will drive innovation, but only to the extent is is practical. To characterize Cheney's energy policy stance as "MORE, MORE" is completely inaccurate.

Oh.... and to all those from outside the U.S. who are criticizing Bush's energy policy....... How much is a gallon of gasoline in YOUR country????..... wanna compare that with what we pay here in the U.S.????

(any spelling errors are intentional and for lavy's benefit.)

:p

Hell, Tejano! Y'all know that markets work best when there's a level playin' field - I'm a free-trader from W-A-A-Y back - and hated it when we tried to be a Protectionist state. :) NAFTA has been good for all 3 countries - except the Big Dawg keeps whinin' like a mangey pup, IMHO :D

You know as an honourable Citizen of the RoT, that Uncle Sugar, in the form of a great many Dems and other 'crat-lovers, has skewed the market in Uncle sugar's favour - witness the recent Softwood Lumber tarriff - imposed by a certain G.O.P. Administration.

And dollar for dollar - we get one HELL of a better deal. Your Health Insurance costs SOMEBODY big bucks. Be it you, your employer or the Gummint... Even w/ our SUPPOSED terrible taxes, our gas is still about $1,80 US for a 'Murrican gallon...

Also remember that this Canookian cat has played in "The Patch" as a WORKER, not a spoiled l'il rich boy... I know Westheimer Road pretty well, Dude! ;)

Spellcheck?

We need a fucking computer to check our spelling?

Don't get me started.
