So, how about those of us who have never been able to define ourselves by any term other than "outsider"? If you really feel like you don't belong anywhere, then welcome to nowhere. Feel free to post whatever you want here, within these walls of invisibility, where you probably won't be read, and if you are, you are likely to be forgotten, but at least you got it off your chest.

Hi, everyone! Surely being a somebody can get quite tiring. Always fitting into a category.... I think as a nobody I can be more of a free spirit - and, in my opinion, that's much better than any one category!

This thread reminds me of the Jerry Van Dyke character in the tv show "Coach". He decides he's been a nobody loser all his life, and decides to write a book about being a loser, and its inherent benefits. Of course, the book is a hit, makeing him an ironic success.

One of the chapters in the book is about getting fired from your job and what to do. He explains that when you quit your job, you can't collect unemployment insurance, but when you get fired, you can. The title of that chapter of the book was "fire me all the way to the bank."

I feel like a nobody most of the time - back of the queue, bottom of the pile, lowest of the low - until somebody wants something. Then it all changes until wife/family/boss have what they want - then it's back to being a nobody . I don't want to be numero uno, head honcho, big cheese - I just want to be appreciated for who I am , not what I can give others
