Intro -
Set in St. Guy's Hospital, after dark when the doctors and nurses taking the night shift come on duty. The whole place is divided up into many different wards, Accident and Emergency, Trauma and Orthopaedic, Burns and Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Cardiology, Rehabilitation etc... so staff with varying expertise are on call to take care of any kind of emergency which could present itself; and on the night shift that could mean anything - from a man with a brain haemorrhage after a drunken fight to a woman suffering internal bleeding after being knocked down in a hit and run.
Both men and women can be doctors or nurses, and doctors can specialise in different kinds of medicine depending on your personal preference and imagination.
The night shift is decidedly unpredictable, one night it can be incredibly busy le aving the staff exhausted and in need of a warm bed, or the nights can drag out - being long and boring; so the staff have to keep themselves occupied - in any way they can.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dr Rouge was leaning against one of the bleach white walls of the A & E ward, he was one of the on call surgeons active in the hospital at that time. However a slow night had left him with little to do but chat to the other staff and enjoy afew coffees in the communal staff room. Rouge sighed as he dropped a clipboard he'd been fingering through onto a sideboard to his right, thinking over his list of duties for tomorrow - a knee reconstruction and an appendectomy. Snatching the clipboard from the side once again took afew slow paces down one of the many winding corridors of the place, turning the handle of the third door along and strode inside, closing the door behind him. He was in what had been affectionately nicknamed 'The Snooze Room', a simple square room with two bunkbeds at one end and a set of lockers at the other; ontop of which he placed the clipboard. He seemed to have a fondness of this particular 'Snooze Room', as there were a number set up across the hospital to cater for any staff who were on a break. Perhaps his fondness for it stemmed from the fact it was closest to A & E, and in his opinion that was where the action was - he'd taken up surgery after being badgered into it by an overbearing father but much to his suprise he'd found that he loved this career path. Without a hint of arrogance he could proudly claim that he was an impressively capable surgeon and had spent a good few years in the position he currently held, making him somewhat senior amongst his peers - that however didn't make him old, he was a respectable 28 and felt rather accomplished in the way he'd handled himself in the working world. He sat on the edge of the bottom bunk and massaged his temples with two fingers, shaking his head afterwards to try and get some clarity - he didn't often work night shifts and this one in particular seemed to be taking it's toll upon his sleep pattern.
