i wouldn't know for sure, not having watched it since not long after Jeff Zucker and cuomo were shown the door. It wasn't cuomo's departure... after all, he lied, and after coming back from covid he lost that something to his appearances; it was more about all the changes that happened to coverage and inclusions of stupidity during the daytime where some of the more erudite evening people had been moved to and given faff to read. Brooke Baldwin left, Seemed all of a sudden the IQ of the entire place dropped, with the edginess gone, replaced by hallmarkesque content. Anyway, i now only pick up the odd news item from cnn online (text) but wouldn't bother watching it. In their 'search for a more neutral' outlet in order to woo more conservative viewers, warner has effectively pulled the plug on CNN as a valuable source of information.

Now they've dropped Brian Stelter and Reliable Sources, too. I can only imagine the creator of CNN is spinning in his grave.

Ted Turner founded CNN. He is still alive.

I turn on CNN at breakfast (which comes about noon for me) and lunchtime--mostly to check on what events are happening. I have my own interpretation of the events. It's a little irritating that the commercial strings last longer than the reporting segments and that some of the sponsors are pushing products that are a bit WalMarty. Also irritating is how hard they milk current crises even when there's nothing new to report on them.

In the very very early days of the BBC, if there was no news worth reporting, they played soothing classical music. Worth considering perhaps?

I don't think you can come back after being the propaganda arm of the DNC. CNN is done. They will need a rebrand and they will have to fire a lot more people before they gain any credibility as unbiased.

As people who have been trapped in airport terminals know, comedians Jim Acosta, Don Lemon and Jake Tapper are still with CNN. Many airports mercifully keep the volume set at barely audible levels.

CNN correspondent Sara Sidner recognized the Hunter Biden scandal in a Twitter thread on Sunday, arguing that investigating Biden’s business dealings "shouldn’t be a partisan issue."

The reporter stated that "legitimate questions" about President Joe Biden’s son, and the FBI’s investigation into him, "should be asked" even though the younger Biden is not an elected official.

The mere fact that Sidner mentioned the Hunter Biden scandal saga enraged many liberals on Twitter, who slammed her post and wondered if this was yet another sign that CNN had gone off the rails ever since new management proposed turning the network away from overt partisan bias.

People slammed them on Twitter???????

Holy shit, that never happens. Twitter is always such a warm meeting place of friendly discussion.

We’re brought up to believe there’s two different political parties with different points of view, and we don’t take sides in honest disagreements between them. But that’s not what we’re talking about. These are not honest disagreements. The Republican Party right now is led by a dishonest demagogue. Many, many Republicans are rallying behind his lies about the 2020 election, and other things as well.”
Harwood, the day before he announced his departure from CNN

So why does the new management at CNN seem so intent on pretending otherwise? The answer, of course, is because millions of Americans still support Trump and believe his obvious lies, and because CNN would like very much for some of these people to help boost the network’s flagging ratings. After the February departure of longtime network CEO Jeff Zucker, and the April merger of CNN’s parent company with Discovery, the network has been under a renewed mandate to build a stronger, more sustainable business in the cord-cutting era.
But in its haste to renew its appeal with the sorts of old cranks who will be last in line to cancel their cable subscriptions, the network risks damaging its credibility as a news organization that can be counted on to tell the truth even when its viewers do not want to hear it.

I'm heartened by the sign of continued good health for CNN as reflected in the panicked board Trumpettes' braying about its demise. :)

Don Lemon being moved to morning tv, out of his prime-time spot

Lemon will join CNN hosts Poppy Harlow and Kaitlain Collins on the "reimagined" morning show that will replace the long-struggling "New Day."
John Berman and Brianna Keilar will continue to anchor "New Day" until the new program premieres and will be given new roles at the network.
now maybe this will mean a better morning programme... i truly hope it won't mean Don Lemon subjecting himself to delivering pap. I always enjoyed his work, more than Cuomo's during his post-covid return, and it would be awful to see him delivering instant-oatmeal crud to viewers rather than his insightful, considered material.
