My 6yo fractured her femur a month ago, but had the pins removed yesterday and can start putting weight on it in another couple of weeks. Today we're picking up a walker and making the long drive home from the hospital.
Two weeks, people. Two weeks is all you have to prepare for the coming onslaught of the little girl whose determination knows no bounds. Have walker, will travel!

I helped her do things like getting dressed and using the bathroom, but I didn't consider myself the entertainment committee. It took her maybe a week to figure out how to slide down off of the couch and scoot backward across the floor, transfer herself from the couch to her wheelchair, or hop across the room using furniture to steady herself.
Last week we went to the park and the first thing she wanted to do was go down the slide. We lifted her onto the bottom step of the 'staircase' (vs. the traditional ladder) and she hauled herself the rest of the way up and slid down. Ta-da!
Letting her do things herself -when she can- keeps her busy, she likes a challenge, and it counts as physical therapy!
Such a tease! Aaaaaand, now I REALLY want to know what that comment was...
