A funny thing occurs when I enter the BB here. I hear alot of smooching going on. Well, let me cut to the chase. Is it me or is there an epidemic of "ass kissing" going on in this website?
Now don't get me wrong. Laurel and Manu are great at what they do in Literotica and they deserve some momentary praises. But nearly every post/thread that I read, some of you guys worship Laurel as if she is the Literotica Nazi. Not that she don't deserve it, but give me a break. This is not the only erotica site online and Laurel is not the only person who chose to dedicate some of her life to run it. I am a member of another erotica site that has ONLY one person running the entire site. And like Literotica, it is a free site that posts stories within 24 hours of submission. Yet, if the thread is about one thing, all of a sudden it is bombarded to "praising Laurel" for one thing or another. A clear example, a thread was posted called "The Kingdom of Lit" and it was suggested that Laurel would be voted as the leader. (Pardon me as I barf) While Laurel does a great job with this website, running a website is not the same as directing a group of people and leading them to survival. But, I guess that's only one's opinion of whom would make a great leader, right?
Another thread was of "Story Plots" and of all of the posts, I counted about 8 posts out of about 15 that spoke of Laurel and how great a job she was doing. While this may be, it was not the subject at hand.
I would like to end this thread with one question to the Faternal Order of the Almighty Ass Kissers of Literotica (Raise your hands for you know who you are)........WHAT SHADE OF LIPSTICK WOULD YOU RECOMMEND FOR ASS KISSING? Because I am due for a raise at my job and I want to tell my boss how great a job they are doing when I ask for one.

I don't want to badmouth anyone on Lit, everyone has a valuable opinion, and deserves to talk. But, it does kind of get irriatating once in a while when everyone keeps kissing Laurel's ass all the time. It makes me wonder what people really think. Do they really think Laurel is all that great? Or do they just go with the crowd. While I myself give my hat off to Laurel for her accomplishments I am not going to give into the crowd just because a few people feel that way.
A while ago some people did that, just let it go, hoping nothing would happen. They let this one guy become an ultimate leader with some people, then abused his power.
You probably would have guess his name to be Adolf Hitler.
I, by all means don't want say that Laurel is a bad person, or a natzi, or anything like that, I am just trying to say that if this is really a tool for the first amendment, maybe we should use it for something a little bit better than ass kissing.

I would have to disagree Siren. It is an important analogy to my case. I am trying to prove that if one person doesn't stand up for himself, and his rights, then all is lost.

I also am a member (and author at) of Eroticstorie.com, and I'm impressed by the recent changes made there. I'm also aware that before Art made those changes in April, he was backlogged on story submissions as well.

Some facts that have some bearing on your complaint. Neither Laurel nor Manu are programmers. Art is.

Eroticstories.com receives about 15 or 20 submissions a day on average. It is apparent that Art does NOT read every story for compliance with his standards. I've seen several that meet his standards only by the most liberal interpretation possible. If I remember correctly, Laurel said she's averaging about 50 submissions a day, which is why the time lag has gone from about two weeks to five weeks since I started coming here. She also reads and manually processes every story, including the preservation of special formatting. (Which Eroticstories.com doesn't do.)

This site is nearing completion of an overhaul like that done to Eroticstories in April. Since the programming has to be hired out, it takes a bit longer than it did for Art to convert his site. Once the scripted version of literotica is in place, posting will be just as quick as Eroticstories with the added bonus of retaining italics and bold face in the submissions.

There is also a much larger selection of higher quality stories here. I choose to post here before Eroticstories.com, because I prefer to be associated with the generally higher level of literacy here.

Since you've pointed out that your stories are available elsewhere, what's the big deal about waiting for them to be posted here? It's not like you're going to get more feedback from here. That's one thing that eroticstories does better.

Both sites have their strong points and weaknesses, so I'll continue to check both on a daily basis. I will however continue to post my stories here first, because I like the formatting better here.

Good point,WH. In addition to Literotica and Erotic Stories, I have submitted stories to White Shadows Porn Stories, Richard Realm, and Love Encounters. Those sites, like Literotica, receive at least 50 stories daily. The only difference with them and ES is that White Shadows has posted my stories within a week. They, too, are free and ran by one or two individuals. The stories there, much like Literotica, are kept online for a much longer period of time. But my point is that I don't recall any shrines built for White Shadow, Richard's Realm, Art, or Steve (Love's Encounters). Nor are there, remotely, half the ass kissing there as here.

As I said before, Siren. I am all for them having praise, and congradulations should be in order for this site. It is very unique. I am just stressing, as is Guy, that sometimes it does go too far.
Laurel does a great job, as do you in discussing a point. I wish more people would argue what they really believe in a mature fasion. Instead of just going with the flow, as I have seen done too many times.
