Time to spread some positive karma :D

What I'm after is a list of things that are guaranteed to get you excited or put a smile on your face. The idea is that when you put some time aside each day to think of the good things in life, it tends to put you in a much happier mood. Plus it would be nice to know what makes everyone tick in the AH.

Here's mine (in no particular order - and I may add more as time goes on)

1. Being the only person awake to watch the sunrise.
2. Haagen Dazs strawberry cheesecake ice cream.
3. Rachmaninov's Russian Vespers.
4. Travelling independently at my own leisure.
5. Sports cars.
6. Dogs - especially if they're real mutts with no breeding.
7. Women.
8. Listening to music by candlelight.
9. Thunderstorms.
10. Apple and blackcurrant flavoured squash (it's a drink you can only get in the UK)
11. Gazing up at the night sky.
12. Sleeping in my girlfriend's arms.
13. Abba.
14. Dusty Springfield.
15. Foreign (especially European) films.
16. Watching the underdog kick ass.

There we go! I feel better already! Who's next?

:)

I'm considering this and will respond better later!

Great thread!

You lot are worried that you laughed at the joke? I'm worried that I wrote it!

1. Sex.

Lou :p

P.S. I'll do this properly later, maybe. ;)

Glad you're finally taking it seriously.

I'll second CD's one about driving. Drove 6,000 miles on two-lane roads one Spring and never got bored.

had to say this today

quirky little romantic gifts from my boyfriend, for no reason at all when i"ve just had a bad day
:rose:
nymph

1- Books
2- My kids (even when I want to strangle them)
3- My husband
4- More books
5- Even more books
6- Somebody who brings me books as a gift
7- Having the time to read without being interrupted
8- Mountains and mountains of books

Hmm I think you got the picture...I'm a book rat

My dogs. I have 5. That's a lot (too many really.) But they always make me smile, even when they're driving me nuts.

My nephews and my brother. They're hilarious and I can totally be myself with them - loud, rude and obnoxious.

Being in the woods, especially alone or with my dog, and especially the woods behind the house I grew up in.

Hm, that's all I can think of right now.

Yeah, being in the woods is a good one.. Camping out in the woods is even better..

Nature hikes are great.

1) Clear calm water diving, both day and night.

2) Sitting on the beach in the dark.

3) Cool crisp sunny fall day, The Blue Ridge Parkway, Honda Goldwing and a full tank of gas.

4) Waking up early, just as the sunlight is shining through the window, and watching my wife peacefully sleeping.

5) Finishing a woodworking project.

6) Seeing responses to one of my stories, and knowing that somewhere out there some one enjoyed it.

I laughed at Earl's post, too, so I guess I'm in good company. ;)

my things (in no particular order):

1. The ocean....anytime, and any ocean. It always feels like home to me. Wintertime is good, you have it all to yourself, usually, and it's perfect to let your mind wander.

2. Feeling free. Some may not know what I'm talking about, but some do. I haven't felt that way in a long time. Free to be exactly who I am.

3. A bookstore with money in my pocket, nothing better.

4. An afternoon on a fast horse, with or without company, it doesn't matter.

5. Completing a story.

6. My children - especially when they're little and think I'm the most perfect woman in the world, but they can always remind me of why I'm here.

7. The love of a good man. Doesn't get any better.

Cloudy, I should have had numbers three and four on mine. (Damn I had forgotten how much fun it is to ride a horse. {Down Shang.})

It rocks, doesn't it? I've had a horse since I was 7, and I can't imagine life without them, now.

I'll play...

1) seeing a smile I know I created. even better if it is someone I care about, but even from a stranger I crave this...

2) the wind in my face

3) sincere "thank you's" (they let me know I've done something right)

4) eye contact

5) that little involuntary gasp when I've touched the right place at the right time.

6) reminders. things that bring memories back. could be a receipt, a ticket stub, a item of clothing or even a spoken phrase.

I'm giving this a bump, because there are a lot of people who promised to come back to it, and I don't want them to forget  I can be a bit terrier-like in that respect. But don't worry - I don't bite... hard.
