Confirmed Misfit now....went to PacBell Park last night to watch my first game of baseball....and most certainly my LAST! Wgat a boring game and evening that was...half the crowd weren't even watching...walking about eating...so I am a definate MIsfit..I don't like baseball!!

Golly, glad i'm not alone...i have posts on Author's Hangout, How To..., BDSM, GB (not in a long time), and PG...and so many of them go unnoticed, looked over, ignored, etc...it's hard to pour your heart into saying something and have it ignored...it's hard to want to go back, or come back whatever the case may be...i, too, have been the first to post something on a thread and then the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th person get comments galore and it's like i never existed

SpankableBelle, I understand what you're saying. It's hard when you post something that you think is valuable.. only to find that you're being ignored.

I guess that we're all guilty of that from time to time, especially on a busy thread, but we all like to be acknowledged also.

As a point of interest, since you posted the quote above, there have been a few posts to this thread that haven't been acknowledged.

What I'm trying to say, is.. it happens, please don't take it to heart, and just keep soldiering on. You'll soon make a few friends here, and then the rest will be history.

You are right, sometimes, we may skip someone, and it might not be intentional, i've done it not meaning to i'm sure.
Sometimes when you've got a few threads going, and other things going on, it's an easy mistake to make. However, when you're a first poster, and 15 mins go by, and a second post gets posted, and the second poster get a responce, you can't help but to think, well hey, why is it i just posted a whole paragraph about the subject, and this other person comes in and just says" i saw you had a thread, i had to come say hi to you", and that lil sentence gets answered. It's sometimes real discouraging to some, and i can see why some don't post or might feel negatively towards the boards. So in sum, i agree with what you said, sometimes it's not done intentionally, but it does happen.
Maybe i need to be a bit more attentive when posting..

I do think it's always cool to meet new people, i have met many wonderful people here in the past few months. I like coming here, i like meeting people, but i also am more of the observer..i like to "people watch"..i like to see how people interact with eachother..intresting stuff..LoL

Just adding my two cents worth to this......there are those on this very thread that haven't really been acknowleged at all....perhaps it might make one feel like an invisible misfit...We all make mistakes in posting, sometimes by not being clear on the intent or content...ignoring a potential friend....sometimes, by even being friendly to one not willing to make any responding effort.....Lord knows, I've tried to answer all posts and messages and I'm sure I've been guilty on all above counts...not intentionally though. I've responded to numerous pm's here only to have that person completely do a 360 when I did not answer the correct way in their thinking...Well, I'm trying to grow a thicker skin....but it's hard...I'm naturally a friendly person and just like in so called r/l, it hurts a bit....I wonder why no one can actually say that posting here is real life too? In a way, it is real.Oh well,I will end this ramble for now....but I wonder how many still feel like a misfit, or misplaced soul even here.

And AA, thank you hon!! Such a sweetie!!

I think any misfitness I ever felt, I was at least 50% responsible for. It does take two, and I have been quite guilty in the past of making little or no effort.

My son just changed schools - and states - this summer. He's started back already, and has made some friends (he's a soph, and they are jr girls). He's much more gregarious than I ever was at that age, and making the effort is no big deal to him. People like him.

I just try to give new people a chance - not everyone, but most....it works better this way.
