Hello all,

I have been a "member" for almost a day now so I suppose that makes me a newbi and I've always felt like a misfit so your thread {?} hooked me. I admit I posted to the Ohio one first, sorry but I didn't see this one, and they are a decidedly chilly bunch.

I have no idea where to start, can't even remember what I put on the profile but I'm 27, female, divorced without children {unless we are including the furry/feathered ones who've adopted me over the years}, and I stumbled into this site a while back while looking up stories. I've ventured back often to read but until yesterday I never thought of becoming a member.

On the shy side until I get to know people, then I'll talk your ear off if you let me. I enjoy reading, learning, exploring and just trying to expand my world as much as possible. Love to laugh but can't tell a joke to save my life so if anyone is interested in talking/chatting I'm usually around and I'd enjoy the company.

Thanks,

Dee

:)

Welcome aboard, Dee. Nice to meet ya.

what Kind of feathered children ya got? I've hand-fed baby cockatiels before, and they're really sweet, but I'm looking to step up to a bigger, smarter bird.

Hope to see you posting frequently.

...Streaking the workplace is usually frowned upon...But sounds tempting. Would be a fun way to greet customers, though, in retail type jobs. Wonder if I'd have sold more cars that way, back in the day...

But anyhow, Welcome aboard!

Okay, I finally decided to write down where this thread is because I keep getting lost in personals and how to's!

I have 3 cockatiels, one I've raised since egghood. Living in an apartment growing up a pet bird was my real only choice in a pet, after goldfish, which just refused to learn any tricks or acknowledge my very existence. I don't think I could be without a pet bird, they are so much fun and have completely unique personalities.

Now that I'm a so-called grownup I have 3 dogs as well, all "unwanted" prior to coming to live with me. The first one, a Black Lab, I found on the side of the road on my way to work one night. She was only 6 months old, starving and dumped there. At the time I was living with my mother in a rented house but because I refused to get rid of the dog, I bought a house. Yes, I bought a house so I could keep a dog. Because I worked so much and the dog, which I dubbed Moose from the size of her paws, demanded so much attention, I went out and adopted a puppy from the local pound, a 6-week-old Border Collie mix I named Minnie.

Last year I once again stopped on a road to pick up another sick, abandoned animal, getting my purse stolen from my car in the process. I named him Hobo. With him I was able to trace his background and discovered he'd come from a breed rescue. Hobo is a purebred Australian Shepherd and despite all my talk of not having 3 dogs under foot, he is still here.

Moose as it turns out is a purebred Black Lab and now is all grown up at 100 pounds of muscle. How anyone could be frightened of her is beyond me yet most are. The dogs take up the bulk of my time but I also have 4 horses as well and I'm attempting to learn showjumping. I guess all little girls grow up loving horses and I'm just fortunate enough to get the opportunity to turn my dreams into reality.

Let's see, what else can I share about myself? I'm 27, female, besides the animals I enjoy music, movies and good friends. I don't always think before taking action. Last year I purchased a 71 Cuda convertible with the belief learning to drive a stick would be a piece of cake. It is at a family member's house because evidently I'm not coordinated enough to use both feet and hands simultaneously. Guess I probably can't walk and chew gum at the same time either although I've never tried it.

I also have a huge clumsy streak. Put me in a pair of modest heels and I'll fall on my face within minutes. Years of dance and ballet classes failed to help change the situation so I'm resigned to the fact I'll never be able to wear those sexy pumps guys like so much, unless I can remain seated and avoid walking.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better so I'll be sure to check in.

Dee

Fifty percent of the women in this country are not having orgasms. If that were true of the male population, it would be declared a national emergency.

A WHAT???

A 71 'CUDA CONVERTIBLE!!!...

A 71 'CUDA CONVERTIBLE!!!...

what motor and color combination?

When I was 15 I looked at a 71 Barracuda convertible with a slant 6 and a 3 speed manual on the floor. Vitamin C orange with a salt / pepper interior and white top. Original owner car, here in CA all its life, rust free. Simply needed a new top and drivers seat cover. $2000 was the asking price, and as I showed up, It's new owner was filling out the paperwork. I was heartbroken.

But I'll spare the rest of you a barrage of car talk-Defiantdee, check your PM box for more!

P.S. Check out the interior in the pic. I hog-ringed those factory-style covers on myself. I could have EASILY done the seat and top in that Barracuda...Oh well!

of our four dogs two we saved, two
Grace the Doberman was at the pound when I secured her freedom, she follows me everywhere and sleeps alwyas on the floor where ever I am.
and Shadow, who is a wild and fast little black beast, came up to my husband at a truck stop in Oklahoma and introced herself to him. He called me and woke me up to ask if he could bring this dog home...i said yeah sure...then he calls back asking me if it is normal for dogs to have purple tongues.......yeah sure I said.....anyways...she had been abandoned with a dog harness on her....which was when my husabnd rescued her was cutting deeply into her little body...he took great pains at slowly cutting it off of her....she is such a wonderful dog......
sleeping at my feet right now....
of the five cats that live in our home...Hooper was abandoned y our house which was way out in the desert..
Buttons...was found by my husband in West Virginia in a ware house district...she was so thin.and full of worms when she came to us...she has remained a very tiny cat....
Howard, Duncan and Saha..all litter mates were abandoned by their mother right after they were born.....so I dug a hole under a fence to rescue them....the gates were locked at this abondoned house......we all took turns bottle feeding them..oh my hands got so scratched up....and now they are quite the nice pride....Sasha lays with me during the day.

So I understand about caring for the little people..bunches

haven't stopped by for a few days, but there doesn't seem to be a theme today anyway. Al Lit seems hushed. Is this a long weekend thing? You mean some Lit people have real lives?
