I posted the link to the voting thread in the coffee shop along with the morning coffee.

Not to be an asshat but I'd like to point out that chapters are not stories, they are parts of stories.
I'll double down on the asshattery and point out the people who only have one long unfinished series shouldn't be up for any type of "author award" FFS you've never finished a damned thing.

I thought Laurel said years ago she was no longer going to allow chapters?

Oh, right she just decided no one is allowed to say it in the actual thread.
Same thing.

It would make it difficult for us to vote for each other there. I'm just amazed that with all the last minute fiddling I did with my story that anyone noticed it. At the last minute I couldn't kill off the FMC... just couldn't do it. Major re-write for this and the parallel story We're a Wonderful wife... the nomination for this is kind of unique. the chapter that clinched the Novella nomination is the same story as the story that clamed the Horror nomination they're told from 2 different angles.

So, you wrote the same story from two different perspectives and both got nominated? That's very impressive!

A Krissmas Karol is a different take on A Christmas Carol, I tried to do something original (Hallmark movies pissed me off)

I missed the 2021 Winter Holiday date but I fell in love with the characters that I made for A Krissmas Karole so I just started noodling around on the keyboard until 2022 rolled around I started publishing the backstory as We're a Wonderful Wife. About 3 months before the start of the Winter Holiday contest I ended up doing a rewrite because there were parts of the story I just couldn't publish. In some ways they're both better after the re-write, and in some ways they miss that "pop" that makes a story stand out. So I'm shocked as hell to be able to talk like this with some great writers,

Very proud to say I received 3 nominations in the Special Categories section. And shockingly (for the moment) I’m the leading vote getter in all three against some talented competition including one semi-well known author who has 45,000+ more followers than I do! 🥳🥳🥳…and yes, I screen-shotted it.

Congratulations to all the nominees!

I do not think you are an asshat for that sentiment, and I got two nominations this year... for two chapters in the same series!

While I feel perfectly fine with Alistaire Chapter One being nominated in First Time, his finale, nodded in Erotic Coupling, in no way stands alone. It's good, I think, but it stands on a hundred thousand previous words.

My only consolation (aside from the fact that it will not win), is that it is the final chapter, which makes it really a nomination for the whole, completed series.

That said, your point stands.

I don't know if it's exactly a milestone, but this was nice.

Mary and Alvin Ch. 29 was published in 2019. As one might expect in a chapter that far along in a series, it got a very high score, but only about 6k views and just a handful of favorites.

But it had been on my mind recently. In the main plot line, a tropical storm hits the coast of Maine, as it did last week. Alvin and his 11 year old daughter, Bonita, go searching for a family lost at sea in the storm, and are caught up in it themselves. It's one of my personal favorites of all my writing, and, with family and friends still living in Maine, it's natural that I would be thinking of it.

Then, out of nowhere, after almost four years on the site, I started getting more favorites. I was puzzled as to why, and discovered that it was one of the "Related Story Previews" on the Romance Top List page.

It's a wonderful feeling to have even a few people discover a story you care about after so much time.

My favorite brag from a couple of months ago

This was a couple of months ago but I had the #1 and #8 of ALL stories until a few fours took me out. I don't care, I'm happy with the stories and I love every word I wrote, and I hope I turned a few Literotica readers on to the amazing Discworld of Terry Pratchett
