Just hit 100 followers. I know some of you folks are legends in your own lunch time but it feels special to me, considering my stories are pretty niche and I'm certainly less than prolific.
It seems I've been at 108 for a very long time. I have had new people follow (some in the past week), but it hasn't changed in forever. It seems I get a new one and lose an old follower at the same time.

39 of 40 red H’s. No sweep is going to repair the one miss. I blame Duleigh for convincing me to write a 750 word tale (or was it tail?) 🤣. Luckily it was received so poorly if I take it down, no one will notice…

My 750 word stories never crack a Red H either.

Still, I consider a 4 or higher a great score.

If you remove the story, you've ruined your milestone. No one is perfect, and their scores should reflect that they aren't perfect. Do you know what happens if you are perfect? You die! Because there is nothing left for you to learn or learning to be gained from you. And besides that, people like to kill perfection. Ask Christ about that.

I wouldn’t seriously consider taking down my 750-worder. Someone on the AH wrote a few years ago that it’s actually cathartic when you no longer have an unblemished red H streak. At the time I thought it was justification for that author’s circumstance, but I’ve since come to agree. It may even provide the impetus for me to finally publish in LW. We’ll see…

I think that's true. Once you have a story fall short of the mark, you stop worrying so much about it.

I posted my first story here 21 years ago, a month before the wondrous Ogg joined Lit (under that name, he used to read anonymously, as I did, before that). I had exactly one grey pube then.

My "Cindy Heller" humor and satire story topped the toplist for six months, and I got 'E's for that, and three other stories.

I really think you have to tell us how many grey pubes you have now. It's a Chekhov's Revolver kind of thing.

A little ditty from the old west bandit, Black Bart the Gentleman Bandit

Here I lay me down to sleep
To wait the coming morrow,
Perhaps success, perhaps defeat,
And everlasting sorrow.
Let come what will, I’ll try it on,

My condition can’t be worse;
And if there’s money in that box
‘Tis munny in my purse.
-Black Bart

Over 500 Favourites.
Not that they necessarily mean much - often just a bookmark, and someone recently managed to fave two chapters three times each in a day - but it's something above total indifference.

42 out of 57 Hs, another five have had or would if they had more votes. The rest include stories that are more experimental or straddle categories, not giving readers what they might expect, and the 750 word ones.

Onward with the next story (or four, that I'm in the middle of...)
